Firstly Diego Poyet, recently signed from Charlton looks very well rounded and he has potential to become a solid player for the club. Secondly the maverick of Ravel Morrison is a player who can become great if he concentrates on his game, already being on abysmal morale worries me a bit, but he should improve after pre season.
Onto the current Andy Carroll will be our go to man for goals and assists this season, a pure target man who will win anything crossed in from the wings, and if he suffers a injury like he did last year we now have the talents of Zarate and Valencia to step in, instead of Maiga and Carlton Cole. Finally Winston Reid will be key in the centre of defence and he will hold the back line together and put in some solid performances across the season.

In the way of signings I bought in two players to improve the defence, Fernandez of Napoli and Gabre Selassie of Werder Bremen. As well as this I tied down Winston Reid, Mark Noble, Momo Diame and Dan Potts on new deals, and got rid of Diame's release clause. A few youngsters left on loan and Maiga was loaned out to ease the wage budget

Finally I made an overhaul of the backroom staff as I felt many of them were inadequate and there were better options out there

Overall we have beaten most teams that we have been expected to beat and this has resulted in us sitting 13th in the table. We have attained to credible draws against Manchester City and Chelsea recently due to a more defensive formation and changes within the line up. Despite these two good results, we have suffered some strange and frustrating defeats, these include a 1-0 loss to Leicester where we did just not turn up, a 6-2 loss to Manchester United in which we were totally outclassed and finally a 14-13 defeat on penalties to Everton in the league cup quarters, which was lost due to Enner Valencia adding to a poor season by missing two penalties in the shoot out.
As well as Enner Valencia playing particularly poorly and being labelled a flop, Gebre Selassie has been an awful signing for the club, he has repeatedly gotten injured, and when not injured has played poorly so he has been dropped as a result of this. However there have been some stand out performers and some surprises. Andy Carroll has by far been our most influential player grabbing 11 goals and 4 assists in 22 games. As well as this Ravel Morrison, though only playing 12 games has been solid in all of then, meaning he has had an average rating of 7.15, the highest in the squad. Another youngster creating a selection dilemma is the young Dan Potts. He has only played 5 games, and has been impressive when given a chance. However Cresswell adds a attacking prowess you do not get with Potts so he has nailed down a space in the starting XI.
The table currently looks like this:
No extra funds have been made available as of yet so I feel there will be no more additions to the squad by the end of January.
