Stuck on English (US) with "Head Coach" and American spellings

I've been playing Football Manager / Champo since the early 90s. It's taken me a while to get round to FM2014, and I tried to start playing today but my game is stuck on English (US).

I'm very picky and basically will not play the game with these American spellings and phrases, it completely destroys the immersion.

However, I've tried to change the language in preferences and the standard UK "English" option is not showing up. I can see that the english.itc file is there in the folder, but in the game it is not available. What gives?

I am a bit angry about this. I bought the game on Steam ages ago. Any solutions?
