As many of these ideas end up being 'pie in the sky', I decided the best thing would be to get much of the groundwork done before announcing it, hell, I've even tried to do it in the past with limited success. However, with work well underway, the league structure in place, several squads already complete and many periods of verification/testing, I'm now in a position where I can confidently announce and discuss the project.

The 1992/93 season saw the inauguration of the FA Premier League, and this is what I am currently replicating, with a full divisional structure from the FA Premier League itself, down to the GM Vauxhall Conference, as outlined in the structure below.

FA Premier League - 22 Teams
Football League Division One - 24 Teams
Football League Division Two - 24 Teams
Football League Division Three - 22 Teams
GM Vauxhall Conference - 22 Teams

Although this structure represents 114 teams, the core database will concentrate on the 22 Premier League clubs, with selected key players and staff from the other clubs and in excess of 350 key foreign players that were active in the period. The update will also feature a complete facepack, along with competition & team logos and kits for the era.

In order to make the process faster, and in order to have a release available within the timeframe of FM2015, i've been meticulously planning this update for several months now, and devised a phased structure to work with in order to create the player database. Phase 1 is as follows:

* Full league structure implemented with the correct 114 clubs in their relevant division. In the case of the FA Premier League, all 22 clubs are a clone of their original to prevent crossover with logo and kit packs you may already have installed.

* Players are not created from the ground up, but cloned from a suitable and similar present day player. Basic information is edited in this first phase and includes Name, Ethnicity, Skin Tone, DOB, Birthplace, Nation, International Caps, Club Contract, CA, PA, Reputation, Height, Weight, Position. This cloning process means that as above, the facepack can be implemented without fear of crossover, and all players have an individual identity. Further key tweaks to the players can be made in a future phase, this will feature attribute changes, career history and relationships.

* Staff are created in a similar manner, with the same cloning process and basic details implemented. Again, tweaks will be made in a future phase.

* Club details will be modified for the first phase. This will include a financial model for each club to replicate the financial state at the time, with inflation adjustments made to allow the club to operate within the constraints of today's market. Period ownership will also be added, along with the stadia for the period, including pitch size, condition and capacity, also taking into account the building/expansion work that was undertaken in the period due to the Taylor Report.

* For clubs in the structure below the FA Premier League, these will not see as much detailed work. However, key players and staff will be added along with the relevant financial and stadia details as outlined above.

* In excess of 350 foreign players will be included, all active at the time of the database and again cloned using the methods outlined above. Think players such as Costacurta, Gullit and Van Basten. Koeman, Taffarel and Caniggia. Knoop, Buchwald and Lacatus. All foreign players will also have a dedicated image as part of the facepack.

The plan is to complete Phase 1 and release it for public consumption. This phase will be in no means a beta, it will be a fully functional structure which allows the user to replicate a management career in the period. I can then collate feedback and proceed to Phase 2, where further in depth adjustments can be implemented to streamline the experience and add further realism.

Although I plan to do the whole update alone, and have completed a fair amount of the first phase already, I am going to have to request input from the community, as there are many fine details which appear not to be available through general research, or they are just very hard to find. Can anyone help with the following?

* 1992 Premier League ground capacity, along with any works ongoing that would have been completed within 2 years.

* 1992/93 Premier League backroom staff.

* 1992/93 financial state for all 114 member clubs from the FA Premier League to the GM Vauxhall Conference.

* Suggestions for a formula to translate financial information from the 1992/93 season that works within the constraints of the current game. Whether this be club finances, transfer budgets, competition prize money.

* 1992/93 Kits? Not a general request for someone to do them as such, but it's not beyond the realms of possibility that someone, somewhere has them already lying around, or maybe certain people did their favourite club?
