Leeds United manager Phil Walker has added Andy Goram and David Geddis to his backroom staff this afternoon.

Phil Walker has appointed ex-Scotland goalkeeper Andy Goram as his goalkeeping coach, on a deal until June 2015, worth £450 per week. Goram, 48, was born in Bury in England, but chose to play for Scotland rather than England when it came to international football, and went on to earn 43 caps for The Tartan Army. The ex-Rangers keeper had a very successful playing career, winning a number of medals, including six league winners medals while at Ibrox.

One man who is familiar to the surroundings at Leeds United is David Geddis, who has made a return to Elland Road this afternoon. Geddis, 54, has been out of football since 2006, after leaving Elland Road when Dennis Wise and Gustavo Poyet arrived, but has returned to Leeds United as a scout, signing a deal like Goram until 2015.

Leicester come from behind to clinch a point.

Leicester City were lucky to gain a point tonight at home to Leeds United, with the game finishing 1-1.

The Foxes came into the clash tonight on the back of a 1-1 draw at Birmingham City, and Nigel Pearson, who was celebrating his 49th birthday today, made four changes from the weekend, dropped from the starting line-up were Wes Morgan, Paul Konchesky, Matt James and Anthony Knockeart, to be replaced by Tommy Spurr, Richard Wood, Paul Gallagher and Andy King.

The Whites made the same amount of changes from their 2-1 win over Ipswich Town, in came Patrick Kisnorbo, Zac Thompson, Aidan White and Michael Brown, with Adam Drury, Sam Byram, Danny Pugh and Rodolph Austin all being dropped from the starting line-up.

It was the visitors who created the first real chance of the game, and opened the scoring on 13 minutes, with Paul Green grabbing his first competitive goal in a Leeds shirt. The assist went to fellow midfielder Michael Brown, he picked the ball up from a Ross McCormack pass, before slotting the ball in perfectly for Green, who fired home his shot past ex-Leeds keeper Kasper Schmeichel, to make it 1-0 to the visitors.

The first real chance for the home team came just nine minutes later, with ex-Leeds United striker Jermaine Beckford having the chance. The Leicester City number 20 picked up the ball from a Lloyd Dyer pass, and he took one touch and fired in a low shot, but ex-Leicester City defender Lee Peltier blocked the shot.

The next chance of the game fell to the visiting team, and Kasper Schmeichel was forced into a fine save. The chance came from a free-kick on the edge of the penalty box, Aidan White had cut inside before being brought down by Neil Danns, Ross McCormack stepped up and took the free-kick, and Schmeichel was sent scurrying across his line, before tipping the shot round the post.

The home fans were given something to cheer about on 38 minutes, after David Nugent fired them onto level terms. The goal came after Jason Pearce, starting the game at left-back, made a poor clearance straight to Paul Gallagher, the Leicester man then slipped the ball into Nugent, who had wriggled away from Patrick Kisnorbo, to fire home a shot past Paddy Kenny in the Leeds goal.

The hosts had a great chance just two minutes into the second half, but Paddy Kenny made a fine save. The chance fell to Leicester midfielder Andy King, after the ball was played into him by right-back Ritchie De Laet, King then took a touch to set himself up, and fired in a low shot, but Kenny got down well to tip the shot wide.

The visitors had the final chance of the match on 85 minutes, with substitute Rodolph Austin going close. The ball came to the Jamaican midfielder after a poor clearance from Tommy Spurr, and he sent a driving shot which was rising into the roof of the net, until Kasper Schmeichel pushed the shot over the crossbar.

Full time here at the King Power Stadium, and it has ended all square between these two sides, Leeds took the lead thanks to a Paul Green strike, but David Nugent equalised with seven minutes remaining in the first half.

Leicester City manager, Nigel Pearson, on the draw. "Of course it was disappointing not to get our first win of the season tonight, but Leeds have looked a good team under new manager Phil Walker, so a point is not bad."

Leeds United manager, Phil Walker, on drawing tonight. "Well we were definitely the better side out there tonight, so of course it is disappointing that we have not won, but before the match I would have took a point from this game."

Leicester City starting line-up (4-4-2). Schmeichel, De Laet, Moore, Wood, Spurr, Gallagher, King (c), Danns (Knockeart 81), Dyer (James 75), Nugent, Beckford (Waghorn 47).
Subs not used. Collin (gk), Vardy, Schlupp, Drinkwater.
Goal. Nugent 38.
Booked. Danns, King, Nugent, James.

Leeds United starting line-up (4-4-2). Kenny, Thompson, Peltier (c), Kisnorbo, Pearce (Varney 60), Green, Brown (Austin 45), Norris, White, McCormack, Becchio (Gray 72).
Subs not used. Ashdown (gk), Pugh, Poleon, Nunez.
Goal. Green 13.
Booked. Norris.

Attendance. 23,868.
Referee. Keith Stroud.
Man of the Match. David Nugent (Leicester City), rated at 7.7 over 90 minutes. The Foxes striker did well up front tonight, and he is the reason the home side avoided defeat, against a good Leeds United team.

Leeds United manager Phil Walker has today hit out at his sides fixture congestion.

The Whites play Brighton and Hove Albion tonight at Elland Road, and this is their fourth game of the season in all competitions, with their last fixture being played on Tuesday night, which ended 1-1 at Leicester City. They face another two games in the next eight days, with Birmingham City away in the Capital One Cup this coming Tuesday, and then Crystal Palace at Elland Road a week tomorrow, which will make it six games played in just over a fortnight.

Phil Walker on the fixture congestion. "To say we have a fixture congestion is an understatement, we have only had an hours training session since Tuesday night, and that was this morning ahead of the match tonight, so in my view it is not great preparation for the match tonight, I mean this is our fourth game of the season, and it is only ten days old."

Leeds United returned to winning ways in the league tonight at home to Brighton and Hove Albion, with Ross McCormack bagging a hat-trick in the 3-1 win.

The Whites made a total of three changes from the 1-1 draw at Leicester on Tuesday night, out went Patrick Kisnorbo, Michael Brown and Luciano Becchio, with Danny Pugh, Rodolph Austin and El-Hadji Diouf replacing them.

Brighton and Hove Albion came to Elland Road with just the one change from the 3-3 draw with Birmingham City on Tuesday night, Dean Hammond made way to be replaced by Andrea Orlandi in midfield.

The game was a quiet affair until seven minutes before half time, when Andrea Orlandi went close for the visitors. The Brighton midfielder was found by a pass from right-back Bruno, he managed to spin away from Jason Pearce, before hitting a low shot at goal, which flashed just past the post and wide, with Paddy Kenny beaten.

Leeds United opened the scoring just three minutes after that chance for Brighton, and it was Ross McCormack who got the goal. The goal came after a clearance by Leeds keeper Paddy Kenny, was poorly headed back to Tomasz Kuszczak by Gordon Greer, which allowed Scottish striker McCormack to nip in, he then rounded the keeper and slotted home for 1-0.

It was 2-0 to The Whites just two minutes after that goal, and this time the goal came from the penalty spot, but again it was Ross McCormack with the strike. The penalty was won by debutant El-Hadji Diouf, he skipped away from Adam El-Abd but was caught by the defender, and McCormack picked the ball up and smashed it home into the roof of the net.

Brighton punished Leeds for their sloppy start to the second half, with Vicente scoring in the opening five minutes. The Seagulls began the second half the brighter side, and when the ball fell to Andrew Crofts in the Leeds half, he played a great ball into Vicente, and the Spaniard fired home past Paddy Kenny, to give Brighton fans hope of a comeback.

Nothing much happened for the next 22 minutes of the second half, but Ross McCormack wrapped up his hat-trick on 72 minutes. The goal came after a mistake from Brighton right-back Bruno, he made a poor clearance across the pitch which Paul Green intercepted, he had both El-Hadji Diouf and Ross McCormack to choose from, the number 44 was picked and McCormack fired home first time to make it 3-1.

The visitors had the final good chance of the match, with Craig Mackail-Smith going close. The chance fell to the Scottish striker in the first minute of injury time, he was found by a Romain Vincelot flick on, and Mackail-Smith fired in a low shot, but Paddy Kenny got down well and saved the shot.

At the final whistle it is Leeds United who have took victory tonight, beating Brighton and Hove Albion 3-1 here at Elland Road, thanks to a hat-trick from striker Ross McCormack, the Brighton goal did come from Vicente, but that was not enough for The Seagulls. This victory for The Whites does send them to the top of the npower Championship tonight, but they could be knocked off tomorrow evening, if results go against them.

Leeds United manager, Phil Walker, on winning tonight. "Well this was a good win tonight for us, especially with Ross (McCormack) hitting three goals tonight, but yet again we had less than half of the possession in the game, and this is something we will have to work on."

Brighton and Hove Albion manager, Gustavo Poyet, on the defeat. "Well all I can say tonight is that we was not good enough, ok we had more of the possession, but if we do not get any points from the game, then what is the point."

Leeds United starting line-up (4-4-2). Kenny, Thompson, Peltier (c), Pearce, Pugh, Green, Austin, Norris (Brown 60), White (Varney 60), McCormack, Diouf.
Subs not used. Ashdown (gk), Drury, Kisnorbo, Byram, Becchio.
Goals. McCormack 41, pen 43, 72.
Booked. Austin, McCormack.

Brighton and Hove Albion starting line-up (4-3-3). Kuszczak, Bruno, El-Abd, Greer (c), Bridge, Orlandi (Vincelot 85), Bridcutt, Crofts, Lopez (Mackail-Smith 72), Vicente, Barnes.
Subs not used. Ankergren (gk), Dunk, Calderon, LuaLua, Painter.
Goal. Vicente 50.
Booked. Vicente, Bridcutt.

Attendance. 22,186.
Referee. Kevin Friend.
Man of the Match. Ross McCormack (Leeds United), rated at 9.4 over 90 minutes. The Scottish striker basically won the game for The Whites tonight, and his hat-trick has sent The Whites to the top of the table.

Paul Rachubka has completed a move away from Elland Road, joining Rotherham United until the end of the season.

The American born keeper, 31, is out of favour with Leeds United under new manager Phil Walker, with Paddy Kenny and Jamie Ashdown ahead of him, in the pecking order, for the number one spot in the first team, and with him being out of contract at the end of the season, it is expected he will be released at the end of his current deal.

In terms of the deal between the two clubs involving the goalkeeper, Rotherham United will pay £900 of his weekly wage, it is expected he will be first choice at the New York Stadium, but he will not be able to play in the cup competitions, and Leeds United will not be able to recall him from South Yorkshire.

Rachubka has been handed the number 31 jersey and could make his debut later today, with The Millers taking on Chesterfield at home.

Birmingham City had to come from behind to beat Leeds United 2-1 at St. Andrews in the Capital One Cup tonight.

Birmingham City came into this clash tonight, after a 2-0 home win over Peterborough United on Saturday, out went Paul Robinson, Hayden Mullins, Wade Elliott and Morgaro Gomis, to be replaced by Jonathan Spector, Nathan Redmond, Keith Fahey and Ravel Morrison.

Leeds United came here on the back of a 3-1 victory against Brighton and Hove Albion, and there was only Jason Pearce and Paul Green left from that victory, with Phil Walker making nine changes in total.

Leeds United had the first chance of the game on four minutes, and opened the scoring with it, with Luke Varney finding the net. The assist for the goal went to Dominic Poleon, the picked the ball up from a Luciano Becchio flick on, before slotting the ball into Varney, who fired home a shot past Jack Butland and into the net.

It was Dominic Poleon who had the next best chance of the game, with him forcing a good save from Jack Butland on 16 minutes. The young striker picked the ball up from a Ramon Nunez pass, before skipping past the tackle from Curtis Davies, and then hitting a curling shot towards goal, which Jack Butland had to save well.

The Leeds United defence seemed to switch off on 22 minutes, and Birmingham City centre-back Curtis Davies punished them for it. The move started when David Murphy passed the ball into Keith Fahey from a free kick, the Irishman then whipped the ball into the far post and found Davies, who then brought the ball down on his chest, before slotting home past Jamie Ashdown to equalise.

The home side then took the lead just 14 minutes later, with another centre-back scoring for City, and this time it was Tal Ben-Haim with the goal. The goal for the hosts came from yet another free kick, the ball was whipped into the far post by Keith Fahey, and that found Nikola Zigic who produced a bullet header at goal, which Jamie Ashdown could only parry away into the path of Ben-Haim, and he slotted home into the net.

The next chance did not come until the 61st minute, with Jonathan Spector going close. The American defensive player was found by a Nathan Redmond cross, and headed the ball towards the roof of the net, and Jamie Ashdown pushed the ball onto the top of the crossbar, before seeing the ball go behind for a corner.

The visitors had the ball in the back of the net just two minutes after that Birmingham chance, but the strike from Davide Somma was disallowed for offside. The striker who was not given a squad number in the summer, was handed the number 24 shirt ahead of the match tonight, and he was found by a Ramon Nunez through ball, and the South African striker fired home into the bottom of the net, but was unhappy to see the offside flag.

Birmingham City midfielder Morgaro Gomis had the final chance of the match, but Jamie Ashdown produced another good save to deny him. The midfielder was found after The Whites failed to clear the ball properly, and Gomis picked the ball up on the edge of the area, before firing in a low drive which Ashdown pushed around the post.

Full time here at St. Andrews in this Capital One Cup clash, and Birmingham City have knocked Leeds United out tonight, thanks to goals from Curtis Davies and Tal Ben-Haim, but that was after Luke Varney had given the visitors the lead, on the fourth minute.

Birmingham City manager, Lee Clark, on the win. "A good win for us to book our place in the third round draw on Friday, and it could have been more than a 2-1 win, but their keeper (Jamie Ashdown) was in superb form tonight."

Leeds United manager, Phil Walker, on exiting the cup competition. "A disappointing result for us tonight to be exiting the competition at an early stage, as I would of loved a home tie against one of the big teams in the Premier League, but this now gives us the chance to focus on our league campaign."

Birmingham City starting line-up (4-4-2). Butland, Caddis, Ben-Haim (c) (Gordon 89), Davies, Murphy, Morrison (Caldwell (c) 45), Spector (Gomis 76), Fahey, Redmond, Zigic , King.
Subs not used. Doyle (gk), Ibanez, Jervis, Ambrose.
Goals. Davies 22, Ben-Haim 36.
Booked. Ben-Haim.

Leeds United starting line-up (4-4-2). Ashdown, Byram, Kisnorbo (c), Pearce, Drury, Green, Brown (Norris 71), Nunez, Varney (White 60), Poleon, Becchio (Somma 60).
Subs not used. Kenny (gk), Thompson, Pugh, Austin.
Goal. Varney 4.

Attendance. 12,989.
Referee. Jay Spong.
Man of the Match. Jamie Ashdown (Leeds United), rated at 8.4 over 90 minutes. The goalkeeper was playing in only his second game for United, but again picked up the man of the match award, for a number of good saves.

Three youngsters leave on loan.

http://i50.tinypic.com/2vbl8h2.jpg

We can confirm that three of our youngsters have departed the club on loan today.

The three players that have left the club on loan are Sanchez Payne, Joe McCann and Charlie Taylor. Midfielder Payne has joined AFC Wimbledon until January, fellow midfielder McCann has also left until January to join Bradford, while left-back Charlie Taylor has also left until January to join Accrington Stanley.

It is thought that all three players can be recalled if needed, but Phil Walker will look to keep them out on loan, so they can pick up regular first team football.

Leeds defeated by a single Crystal Palace goal.

Crystal Palace ran out 1-0 winners today against Leeds United at Elland Road, thanks to a Shane Ferguson strike.

Leeds United came into the game this afternoon on the back of a midweek defeat at Birmingham City, and manager Phil Walker made nine changes to the team, with only Sam Byram and Jason Pearce remaining from that team.

Crystal Palace also lost in the Capital One Cup in midweek, to Fulham, made two changes from that side, out went Paddy McCarthy and Jon Williams, to be replaced by Danny Gabbidon and Shane Ferguson.

It was the home side who had the first real opportunity of the match, and it fell to midfielder Sam Byram, who forced a good save from Julian Speroni. The chance was created by a Danny Pugh free kick out on the left, the ball was crossed into the far post to find Byram, and he sent a looping header towards goal, which Speroni did well to tip over.

The next chance of the match again fell to The Whites, and this time it was David Norris with the chance. The Whites number 19 was found by a square ball from Rodolph Austin, and he took a touch before curling a shot at goal, which Julian Speroni did well to push round the post.

The away side took the lead on 35 minutes, thanks to a strike from debutant Shane Ferguson, who had joined from Newcastle United on loan yesterday. The goal was created by Andre Moritz, he pulled the ball back to the edge of the area from a corner, the pass found Ferguson, who fired home a low drive past Paddy Kenny, and into the United net.

It was Leeds United who had the first chance of the second half, with Ross McCormack going close from a free kick. The free kick was won when El-Hadji Diouf was brought down on the edge of the area, and up stepped McCormack to curl a shot towards goal, which Julian Speroni had to push wide.

The final decent chance of match came with 23 minutes remaining, when Rodolph Austin went close with a low shot. The ball fell to the Jamaican international after good creative work by The Whites, it was Davide Somma who knocked the ball back for Austin, and he sent in a rising shot, which Julian Speroni pushed over the crossbar.

Full time and a real shock result here at Elland Road today, despite all their chances Leeds United have lost the game, to a single Crystal Palace strike, which came from midfielder Shane Ferguson, in the first half. The visitors do move above Leeds in the table to third, while Leeds remain in fourth place in the table.

Leeds United manager, Phil Walker, on the defeat this afternoon. "All I can say on the game today is that if we had converted our chances, which there were a lot of, we would have won the game, but their keeper (Julian Speroni) had a terrific game. It is pleasing we now have a break, as I feel the fixture congestion had an effect on the past two games, both which we lost."

Crystal Palace manager, Dougie Freedman, on the win. "A great result for us this afternoon here at Elland Road, it is always a difficult ground to visit, and we have done brilliantly to come away with all three points."

Leeds United starting line-up (4-4-2). Kenny, Thompson, Peltier (c), Pearce, Pugh (Varney 75), Byram (Somma 59), Austin, Norris, White, McCormack, Diouf.
Subs not used. Ashdown (gk), Green, Kisnorbo, Brown, Poleon.
Booked. Diouf.

Crystal Palace starting line-up (4-3-3). Speroni (c), Blake, Ramage, Gabbidon (McCarthy 74), Parr, Clingan, Jedinak, Ferguson (Moxey 80), Zaha, Murray, Moritz.
Subs not used. Lee-Barrett (gk), Martin, Garvan, Goodwillie, Ward.
Goal. Ferguson 35.
Booked. Ferguson, Jedinak.

Attendance. 28,187.
Referee. Neil Swarbrick.
Man of the Match. Julian Speroni (Crystal Palace), rated at 9.0 over 90 minutes. The Argentinian goalkeeper somehow managed to keep Leeds United at bay, making a number of match winning saves, which could prove vital come the end of the season.

I know but Birmingham away was always going to be tough, and Palace was one of those games, we had loads of chances but did not score, they had very few and did score, but international break coming up so that will give players time to rest, then we travel to Peterborough in the league.

Walker denies rift between him and Diouf.

Everything fine between manager and attacker.

Leeds United manager Phil Walker has media rumours, that him and attacker El-Hadji Diouf have fallen out.

There were reports saying that Diouf, 31, had fallen out with manager Phil Walker after a training session, at Thorp Arch, with Diouf apparently unhappy at the moment, after featuring just twice in six games this season, after joining in the summer, as a free agent.

Meanwhile defender Tom Lees could feature on Saturday at Peterborough United, he has been out injured with a dislocated shoulder since July, but will be back in training on Friday, and could feature at London Road.

Phil Walker on the rumours of his relationship with El-Hadji Diouf. "I do not get where the media are getting these stories from, there is absolutely no rift between me and Dioufy, so this story is completely incorrect."

Leeds United got back to winning ways after two defeats in a row, with El-Hadji Diouf scoring both of their goals.

Peterborough United manager Darren Ferguson, stuck with the same team which lost 2-0 at the KC Stadium to Hull City, a fortnight ago.

Leeds United came into this game on the back of two defeats, and Leeds made just the three changes to that team, out went Zac Thompson, Danny Pugh and Rodolph Austin, to be replaced by Paul Green, Adam Drury and Michael Brown.

It was the visitors Leeds United who had the first chance of the game, with Ross McCormack flashing a shot just wide. The ball fell to the Scottish striker, after a long ball over the top from Jason Pearce, the Leeds number 44 brought the ball down, before hitting a shot across the face of goal, which went just wide of the far post.

It was the home side who had the next chance of the game, with skipper Gabriel Zakuani going close. The Posh centre-back was found by a Tommy Rowe corner from the left, and Zakuani rose the highest in the box and got a good header towards goal, but Paddy Kenny saved comfortably.

The deadlock was broke just three minutes after that Peterborough chance, with El-Hadji Diouf finding the net, for the first time in a Leeds shirt. The assist went to midfielder Michael Brown, he won the ball from Danny Swanson in a tackle, before slotting it through to Diouf, who then curled home the shot for 1-0.

It was 2-0 to the visitors in first half injury time, and yet again it was Diouf who got the goal. The Leeds attacker was played in the clear by midfielder David Norris, and despite Diouf seeing his initial shot pushed away by Bobby Olejnik, The Whites number 21 slotted home the rebound, to send Leeds in at half time 2-0 up.

The game was rather a quiet affair in the second half until after the hour, when Tyrone Barnett went close for the home side. The Posh number nine was found by a Craig Alcock ball over the top, and he brought the ball down brilliantly, before hitting the ball on the bounce, and Paddy Kenny had to tip the shot over the crossbar.

The last real chance of the game came for Peterborough United number 10 George Boyd, but he fired wide when he should have really scored. The ball came to Boyd after a slip by United centre-back Jason Pearce, he only had to deal with a simple pass from Aidan White, but his slip allowed Boyd to slip in, but he fired wide when clear on goal, and with just Paddy Kenny to beat.

Full time here at London Road and it is Leeds United who have won here today, thanks to a double from attacker El-Hadji Diouf, this win means they are back to winning ways, but they have picked up their first clean sheet in the league this season, and their first in five games. This defeat though for Peterborough United this afternoon, means they remain in the relegation zone.

Peterborough United manager, Darren Ferguson, on another defeat. "Yet again I feel like it is deja vu for me, another defeat is not acceptable, and if we carry on like this we will be relegated."

Leeds United skipper, Lee Peltier, on getting the three points. "A good win for us this afternoon, okay Peterborough are struggling this season, but this is a tough ground to come to, especially on the back of two defeats, but it is also nice to pick up a clean sheet for a change."

Leeds United had to come from behind tonight at Bolton Wanderers to rescue a point, with both goals coming in the first half.

Bolton Wanderers made just the two changes from the 1-1 draw with Cardiff City on Friday night, out went Zat Knight and Mark Davies, with Matt Mills and Jay Spearing replacing them, in the starting line-up.

The away side made three changes to the side that won 2-0 at Peterborough United, out went Adam Drury, Sam Byram and Aidan White, with Danny Pugh, Rodolph Austin and Luke Varney replacing them.

It was The Trotters who had the first chance of the match, and put the ball in the back of the net, with Tom Hateley scoring directly from the free kick. The free kick was won by midfielder Keith Andrews, who was clattered into by Leeds midfielder Rodolph Austin, and defender Hateley fired home a dipping free kick, which beat Paddy Kenny, who thought it was going over, until it dipped into the goal.

The home side should have made it two on 19 minutes, this time the chance fell to striker David Ngog. The French born striker was found by a pin point pass from Martin Petrov, and he took a touch to beat Lee Peltier, before going up against Paddy Kenny in the Leeds goal, but Ngog could only flash his shot wide of the goal.

The visitors equalised on 28 minutes, with Ross McCormack grabbing his fifth league goal of the campaign. The move actually started from a goal kick for the visitors, the long ball found Rodolph Austin, he then flicked the ball into the path of Luke Varney, who slipped it into former Bolton man El-Hadji Diouf, and he then played in Ross McCormack, who then slotted home past Adam Bogdan for 1-1.

Leeds United received a huge blow in first half injury time, when Rodolph Austin was sent off for a second booking. The Jamaican international, 27, had picked up a yellow card early in the game, and after the midfielder clattered into Jay Spearing, the referee produced a second yellow card, and sent Austin off.

It was Bolton who had the first chance of the second half, with Kevin Davies forcing a good stop from Paddy Kenny. The chance for the Bolton number 14 was created by Lee Chung-Yong, he slipped the ball into Davies, and the one-time England striker fired in a low drive, which Kenny did well to get down and stop the shot.

The next chance in the game fell to Keith Andrews, who hit the crossbar for The Trotters. The chance came with just 12 minutes left of normal time, after the visitors poorly cleared a corner into the penalty area, the ball then came to Andrews who chested it down, before hitting the ball after it had bounced, and luckily for Leeds it struck the crossbar, before Jason Pearce cleared the ball.

The visitors had a great chance to win the game with just five minutes left, but Dominic Poleon did not take the chance and make it 2-1. The chance for Poleon came after great build-up play from the visitors, which saw Aidan White, slip a pass into the United number 26, but Poleon fired his shot over the top, with just Adam Bogdan to beat.

Full time here at the Reebok Stadium and it has ended 1-1 tonight, the home side took the lead through a Tom Hateley free kick, but Ross McCormack found an equaliser just 19 minutes later, but United lost Rodolph Austin in the first half to a red card, while Ross McCormack limped off at the start of the second half.

Bolton Wanderers manager, Owen Coyle, on the point. "A point tonight but I feel we could have won the game tonight, we had the chances to win the game, but did not finish those chances, but we are still in the top six, so I hope we can build on that."

Leeds United manager, Phil Walker, on getting a draw. "A good point for us tonight, as most of the Bolton side had played in the Premier League last season, but it is disappointing to lose Rodolph (Austin) to a red card, and Ross (McCormack) to injury."

Bolton Wanderers starting line-up (4-4-2). Bogdan, Hateley, Ream, Mills (Wylde 70), Ricketts, Chung-Yong, Spearing, Andrews, Petrov (Mears 77), K. Davies (c), Ngog (Sordell 77).
Subs not used. Lonergan (gk), Odelusi, Pratley, Eagles.
Goal. Hateley 9.

Leeds United starting line-up (4-4-2). Kenny, Green, Peltier (c), Pearce, Pugh, Norris, Austin, Brown, Varney (White 68), McCormack (Poleon 50), Diouf.
Subs not used. Ashdown (gk), Thompson, Kisnorbo, Nunez, Somma.
Goal. McCormack 28.
Booked. Diouf, Austin.
Sent off. Austin.

Attendance. 22,938.
Referee. Richard Townsend.
Man of the Match. Ross McCormack (Leeds United), rated at 7.3 over 50 minutes. I feel if the striker did not limp off on 50 minutes, the visitors could have won the game tonight, and despite only playing 50 minutes, he was the best player out there tonight.

Huddersfield Town will hope to quickly forget their trip to Elland Road tonight, as Leeds United ran out 3-0 winners, to move third in the table.

Leeds United made a total of three changes from the 1-1 draw at Bolton Wanderers, out went Luke Varney, Rodolph Austin and Ross McCormack, with Aidan White, Sam Byram and Luciano Becchio replacing them.

Huddersfield Town visited Elland Road on the back of a 5-1 defeat against Birmingham City, and manager Simon Grayson made just two changes to that team, out went Jack Hunt and Lee Novak, to be replaced by David Wotherspoon and Scott Arfield.

The West Yorkshire derby was a quiet affair until the 17th minute, when the home side won and scored a penalty. The penalty was won for Leeds United by El-Hadji Diouf, he was found in the box by a Paul Green pass, and as Diouf turned, he was clipped by Huddersfield left-back Paul Dixon, who was unhappy as Diouf acted like he had been shot, and up stepped Luciano Becchio, who smashed home the penalty for 1-0.

It was 2-0 to The Whites just nine minutes after that opening goal, and this time it was David Norris who found the net. The goal came after great work by the home side which saw them pass their way around the pitch, and when Michael Brown fed the ball into midfield partner David Norris, he doubled the lead with a curling strike, from 22 yards out.

The visiting side had a good chance on 37 minutes, and it was Adam Hammill who brought a fine save out of Paddy Kenny, in the Leeds United goal. The chance was created by Adam Clayton, who was returning to Elland Road for the first time, since his departure in the summer, and the Huddersfield midfield man played the ball out to Hammill, who cut inside and fired in a low shot, which Kenny did well to save.

Leeds United wrapped up all three points on 56 minutes, with Michael Brown grabbing the winning goal, with a stunning volley from distance. The goal was created by The Whites left-sided player Aidan White, he picked the ball up after a poor thrown in from David Wotherspoon, which bounced off Scott Arfield, before White knicked the ball and crossed it into the middle of the pitch, to find Brown who ran onto the ball, and then fired home the volley which went in off the post, to wrap up all three points for the hosts.

The final good chance of the match fell to Huddersfield Town midfielder Adam Clayton, but the midfield man fired his chance well over the crossbar, on his return to Elland Road. The Terriers midfielder was found by a pass inside from David Wotherspoon, and Clayton took a good touch before hitting a rising shot, which went just over the crossbar.

Full time here at Elland Road, and Leeds United have cruised to victory over their West Yorkshire rivals Huddersfield Town, thanks to goals from Luciano Becchio, David Norris and Michael Brown, with the goal from Brown looking like a goal of the season contender, with a volley from distance.

Leeds United manager, Phil Walker, on the victory. "A great win for us tonight, Huddersfield came here to play defensive football with a 4-5-1 formation, but we broke them down and hit three good goals, including a great strike from Michael (Brown), and Luciano (Becchio) got his first of the season."

Huddersfield Town manager, Simon Grayson, on the defeat. "Well all I have to say is that we was not good enough tonight, I came here with a team picked to frustrate Leeds United, but they found it easy to win tonight, and at times too easy to win the game, but we now have to pick ourselves up, and bounce back when we face Hull at home on Saturday."

Leeds United starting line-up (4-4-2). Kenny, Green, Peltier (c), Pearce, Pugh, Byram (Thompson 80), Brown (Drury 80), Norris (Varney 80), White, Becchio, Diouf.
Subs not used. Ashdown (gk), Somma, Nunez, Kisnorbo.
Goals. Becchio pen 17, Norris 26, Brown 56.
Booked. Pugh, Brown.

Huddersfield Town starting line-up (4-5-1). Smithies, Wotherspoon, Gerrard, Fontaine, Dixon, Henry (Novak 45), Arfield (Hunt 62), Southern (c), Clayton, Hammill (Ward 68), Vaughan.
Subs not used. Bennett (gk), Lynch, Woods, Wallace.
Booked. Wotherspoon.

Attendance. 28,946.
Referee. Lee Mason.
Man of the Match. Michael Brown (Leeds United), rated at 8.4 over 80 minutes. The Leeds United midfield man put in a great shift for The Whites, not only did he get an assist and score a spectacular volley, but he controlled the game from the middle of the park.

Luciano Becchio fired home a hat-trick at Ashton Gate this afternoon, as Leeds United ran out 4-1 winners at Bristol City.

Bristol City made two changes from the side that won 2-1 at Birmingham City last Saturday, out went Greg Cunningham and Paul Anderson, with Richard Foster and Albert Adomah replacing them.

Leeds United came to Ashton Gate on the back of a 3-0 victory over Huddersfield Town on Monday night, and Phil Walker made three changes to that starting line-up, out went Sam Byram, Aidan White and Michael Brown, with Ross McCormack, Luke Varney and Rodolph Austin replacing them.

The visitors took only 15 minutes to find the back of the net, and it was Luciano Becchio who opened the scoring. The Argentinian striker, who had not scored all season until Monday night, found the ball at his feet from a Ross McCormack pass, and Becchio took one touch, before firing home to give the visitors the lead.

Leeds United doubled the lead just 17 minutes later, when Luke Varney headed home his first league goal for the club. The visitors will be thanking referee Lee Probert for the goal, he carried the game on after El-Hadji Diouf was brought down on the right flank, the ball then broke to Paul Green, who then whipped the ball into the far post, to find Varney who headed across the face of Tom Heaton, into the far corner for 2-0.

The two goal advantage only lasted three minutes for Leeds, as Bristol City striker Sam Baldock pulled one back for the home side. The goal for The Robins came after Cole Skuse won the ball from David Norris, he then played the ball behind the Leeds defence, and Sam Baldock latched onto the pass, before slotting through the legs of Paddy Kenny, to half the Leeds United lead.

The game was a quiet affair until the 66th minute, when Marvin Elliott rattled the crossbar for Bristol City. The chance came after the visitors failed to deal with a Bristol City corner properly, with Rodolph Austin only heading the ball as far as the edge of the area, and the ball fell to Elliott, who fired in a drive which rattled the crossbar, before Jason Pearce cleared the ball to safety.

Just eight minutes after Bristol City hit the Leeds United crossbar, the visitors made it 3-1, with Luciano Becchio finding the net. The goal this time was created by Luke Varney, who went from goalscorer to goal creator, as he received the pass from Ramon Nunez, before cutting inside and releasing Becchio, and the Argentinian allowed the ball to run, before smashing the ball home with his first touch.

The game was wrapped up on 89 minutes, with Luciano Becchio wrapping up his hat-trick, and the win for The Whites. The goal came after Rodolph Austin won the ball from Jody Morris in a tackle, and the ball broke loose to Davide Somma, he fired in a low shot which Tom Heaton could only push away, and the loose ball fell to Becchio, who fired home to make it 4-1 to Leeds.

Full time here at Ashton Gate and Leeds United have cruised to a 4-1 victory, with Luciano Becchio who has not been in the greatest of form this season, grabbing a hat-trick, as Leeds United keep their place in the top six, and their fans will be pleased to see Tom Lees featuring at the back for the first time this season, after being brought on after 68 minutes. Bristol City however remain at the wrong end of the table, down in 19th place, with the joint second worse defence in the league, fans will be hoping results pick up in the coming weeks.

Bristol City manager, Derek McInnes, on the defeat. "That was a very disappointing performance this afternoon, and it is not good enough for this club, the fans or the board, so things are going to have to change and soon, or else we will be in the relegation places."

Leeds United manager, Phil Walker, on the victory. "A great win for us this afternoon down here, to keep our great start to the league season going, but we now there is still a long way to go, so we will have to work hard to keep it up. It is also great to see Luciano (Becchio) has found his goalscoring boots, he had not scored under me before Monday night, and now he has fired home two in four games."

Bristol City starting line-up (4-4-2). Heaton, M. Wilson, Carey (c), Basham (J. Wilson 54), Foster, Adomah (Morris 72), Skuse, Elliott, Pearson (Woolford 70), Stead, Baldock.
Subs not used. Gerken (gk), McGregor, Pitman, Kilkenny.
Goal. Baldock 35.
Booked. Skuse.

Leeds United starting line-up (4-4-2). Kenny, Green, Peltier (c) (Lees 68), Pearce (c), Pugh, Diouf (Nunez 45), Austin, Norris, Varney (Somma 73), McCormack, Becchio.
Subs not used. Ashdown (gk), Drury, White, Byram.
Goals. Becchio 15, 72, 89, Varney 32.
Booked. Diouf.

Attendance. 13,641.
Referee. Lee Probert.
Man of the Match. Luciano Becchio (Leeds United), rated at 9.6 over 90 minutes. The Leeds United striker hit a hat-trick this afternoon, and gave the Bristol City defence problems all afternoon, as Leeds romped home to a 4-1 victory.
