Hello I am trying this tactic, although it seems to be going quite well so far I am having problems with conceding too many goals. Can you help?

Having defenders with good pace, jumping and heading attributes will help. Try switching your Ball winning midfielder to a box to box midfielder whilst playing away and also switch the philosophy to counter and fluid whilst playing away.

Which team are you trying the tactic with?

Thanks for the help will try it, ive just lost 3 in a row after some good form so could do with a few tweaks. I am currently SV Grodig in Austrian first division but have Adryan and a couple of other decent players.

Main objective of this tactic is if you have players with a decent amount of strength stats as it makes up for the lack of pace in teams without world class players.
With your current team unless your wingbacks have at least 14 in pace and acceleration, you could switch them to fullbacks instead of wingbacks and have them on automatic mentality, this will make up for the defensive side and switching to box to box midfielder like i suggested will also make sure defense is covered on a more regular basis. with a box to box though he should have decent enough stats in stamina and at least 10 in the pace and acceleration stats for your quality of league.

hope this helps and if you need more assistance just ask and i will try to help.

Aye, I'm in agreement with ya there, thats why I have put a couple of tactics up on this site as I like to switch between them so that the match engine AI dosent get used to one tactic

I don't seem to thump teams with this tactic. Only seem to get a 2-0 win.

Does this tactic work away against the likes of Man City and Spurs? Winning away is my hardest fault.

Won 2-0 in that.

a 2-0 win is nothing to be ashamed of lol. its 2 goals and a clean sheet. The match engine is very fickle this year and its really hard to get a win especially with the new patches that have been released.

I created this tactic during the beta release of fm13 and i am proud that it is still standing up today where other tactics have failed.

The picture you uploaded suggests that you are having a lot of shots but only scoring two of them. I suggest changing the training of your poacher to focus on being a poacher. At Man Utd I would play van persie in the poacher role and rooney in the triquartista. Maybe change triquartista to an inside forward role.

While playing away you may get better results if you switch the philosophy to counter.

Thanks for trying the tactic and remember you need to get the tactic fluid and try not to change your tactics that often.

Aha, I'm in 2030! I won the league and the FA Cup, so this tactic is perfect. I've downloaded another tactic that I switch each season. 7 games into Premier League, won all 7, conceded 4, scored 28. Thanks!

I think this shows how good this tactic is. I've got to use another tactic for the new season, which is unfortunate.

Vital end of season form to secure the title, which was won by a landslide! That's how you do it in real life, Man United!

By the way, in the cups, I used another tactic to try and make the AI not wise up to this one for next season.

Is it really necessary to use the "starts" shout at the beginning of the match? When to use and not to use?

When you use the "defend" shout?

testing...

first game in Brazil:

Flamengo (first division) 9 x 1 Bangu (fourth division)

great result. but need to test against teams higher.

Sorry my bad english.

Tks!

As a Leeds fan I really don't recommend this tactic for Man Utd, it will help them win lol.

Great results and you are right about mixing your tactics up through the season, really stops the AI getting used to your tactics, thats why I uploaded my other tactic which can be used in conjunction.

Why would you need to use a new tactic for the new season? I never have, as long as you mix it up well you will be good to go.

@Lci - I use the defend shouts when playing away. The shouts aren't absolutely necessary, you should still get good results with a decent team. I was using Leeds United and Monaco with this tactic so I was playing a lot of bigger teams and the shouts seemed to help. thanks for trying the tactic.

Second match, Flamengo (first division) 2x2 Friburguense (4ยบ division). Winning of 2-0 at halftime, suffered the tie near the end. Many players complacent. Reputation amateur... very suck. Players become poor. Performance was a little weak in this game.

I have a team with wingers fast. Better to use the tactic without the shout, right?

Yeah you can try it without the shouts, see how it goes. You are the dominant team so I imagine the shouts aren't necessary.

Also team talks are very important this year, there are many threads on how best to go about team talks. they mean a lot and are often the difference in winning or losing or throwing a match away. If your players are complacent you need to give them a jolt to motivate them.

http://www.footballmanagerstory.com/2012/12/fm-2013-guide-team-talks-how-to-get-the-right-reaction/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=fm-2013-guide-team-talks-how-to-get-the-right-reaction

Try this link for effective team talks.

Also, some tactics just aren't effective against some others that the AI uses. No tactic is just plug and play this year. If you look like your struggling with possession try switching the philosophy to counter during the match. if this is still not effective just switch the tactic altogether until you feel the balance is right.

I have noticed that a lot of brazilian teams like to play the 4-2-2-2 formation. maybe this counters my tactic. will investigate more into specific threats for you.

Yes.
IA uses 4-2-2-2, very difficult to break. Need good wingers and fullbacks/wingbacks.

I think the problem is the same motivational because my reputation is amateur in a very big club. Players do not self-motivating even with the correct team talks. They do not react, do not pay attention.

Third match. Brazil Cup. Vila Nova (third division) 0 x 1 Flamengo. Missed some goals.

Many crosses. However, my poacher (Eduardo of Shakhtar) is small, not very fast, but very technical and good without the ball (mental high). strength 9. Replace your role?

Finally, thanks for the link.

yeah switch eduardo to an advanced forward. or retrain and play him in the triquartista role due to his technical ability.

Much easier to be motivational when your reputation is higher. if you have a decent assistant manager with good motivation stats you can get him to take the team talks until your reputation gets higher

actually I already have good trequartistas. I need striker Eduardo playing because my strikers are fast, but they are not good at finishing and other attributes important to the function.

What I can do is put the trequartista striker Eduardo, getting well, with two trequartistas field.

Or even better would be to use it as advanced forward? Or Deep lying forward?

P. S. My assistant manager has motivation 19. But that still does not work. It has no outlet.

Because of 4-2-2-2, my team ends up playing down the flanks, with many crosses, but few goals (players low in height).

Until now there were 6 games against smaller teams, with
8x1
2x2
3x0
1x0 (cup)
4x1
1x1 (cup)
0x1

I've been dominating the small teams. Have not played against a great team with their tactics. Coming soon, play two decisive derbys.

TKS!

Hey,
I saw you said you were a leeds fan (me too MOT!) I was just wondering how you did with leeds using this tactic? and if there is any extra advice you could give so i could apply it to my squad?

My other tactic I have uploaded on here called Beta Destroyer is much more effective with the Leeds squad as this tactic is for more fast paced teams. Leeds are a bit of a slow build up team and in my opinion one of the hardest teams to manage in the game.
This tactic will do the job so long as you get the right players to fill the roles which, again is a bit difficult with the Leeds budget etc, so I suggest checking out the Beta Destroyer tactic and using this tactic as an alternate so the AI don't get used to just one tactic.

Of the two, which is better for teams very defensive? And for teams that play forward?

I saw that the other tactic has enabled counterattack switch and was in doubt. For match away?

This tactic is very fast paced and will break down stubborn defences quite easily. My other tactic is good against stronger teams that want to wear you down if you set the philosophy to counter.
