The Big Leagues

How does it work?
First of all, I will be using claassen's League Megapack to give me as many nations as possible to manage in. Although this has been inspired by Dan and Shedender's careers, I will only try to win the top division from every country due to the sheer amount of playable nations now available. Lower leagues and cups aren't going to be my main priority and aren't required to complete this, although I may still attempt to win them if i'm in them.

Division Titles
The complete list of nations that are enabled with the added megapack means that there are now 119 countries to manage in, gulp...

Titles that have been won will be highlighted in bold red and my current location will be in bold blue.

First Job
For the first section of this journey, I have decided to start with these nations playable with the game starting in December 2013.

Once loaded, I headed straight for the job vacancies list. As you can see, there are three top division clubs in need of a manager. Despite that, I applied for all of the jobs available just incase I struggled to get a top job.

Luckily for me, Finnish Premier Division side Honka offered me the chance to begin my career by being their manager. Needless to say, I accepted it!

They haven't won too much in their history and their arch rivals are the biggest club in Finland, HJK. The facilities are much better than I expected though and that will be a big helping hand with the clubs lack of money. This should enable me to bring through youngsters rather than having to splash out on bringing players in.

My first competitive match was against our fiercest rivals HJK in the Finnish League Cup. The league cup in Finland is split up into four groups of three teams with each team in the group playing each other twice. The top two the proceed to the next round where it becomes a normal knockout competition all the way to the final.

They were the favourites for the win, but our spirited defence shut them out and newly signed Viljanen came off the bench to score what turned out to be the winner! Perfect start to my reign as manager, even if it wasn't a league game.

The second game was more even, although i'd say we may have edged it. Sadly though, it was our first loss despite a late rally.

The third game saw us visit rivals HJK who were eager for revenge. It looked like they were going to get it, but we never gave up and snatched a 2-2 draw. I did shit my pants when they hit the bar and then had a goal ruled out in the 89th minute though...

The final game in the group was the most important. HJK had one win, two draws, one defeat with five goals scored and conceded. Should this match finish 1-1, then both us and FC Lahti would have ended up with the exact same record. It looked like Lahti would win this one easily though as they were much the better team for most of the first half. They had only scored one goal though which allowed us the chance to get back into it, which we did. Then in the second half we took the lead and held it until full time to win the game and the group!

The quarter final is where our league cup ended. Two penalties for Tim Lahti of VPS was enough to beat us and send them into the semi. No big deal, this wasn't a competition I was hoping to win. I just wanted to test my squad in a competitive environment and this was a good way to do it.

Our predicted finish isn't too great, although it highlights how good we were in the league cup with our victories coming over the predicted champions and fourth placed finishers. It could be worse though, we could be MYPA...

There are a few friendlies to do now that the league cup is finished, after that the league will get underway.

The friendlies have been completed and now the start of the league season has arrived. Our opening fixture is away at newly promoted SJK, but despite us being last seasons runners-up in the league, we went into this game as underdogs. Things appeared to be following the media prediction when Hetemaj gave the hosts the lead on 14 minutes, but as we've seen in the league cup earlier, we are a team that doesn't go away. Otaru equalised half way through the first half and thats how it stayed. A good result for us on the opening day

Thanks Shedender, i'll need as much luck as possible!

It seems the Premier League teams enter the Finnish FA Cup at the fifth round. We were drawn against lower league FC Espoo and I expected a comfortable win. We did indeed win, but only through a late goal from a center back. Not that pleasing, especially when they were down to ten men, but a win is a win I guess.

As a result of the previous game, our next league match was postponed for the next round of the FA Cup. The sixth round game would see us face FC Lahti once again, although this time they wouldn't be as tough as they were previously. We dominated from start to finish as they rarely threatened our goal and their job was made twice as hard as it already was when they had a man stupidly sent off in the first half. A comfortable win in the end and we are now awaiting the quarter final draw.

Now with the FA Cup matches played, it was back to the league and an away trip to FC Inter. We gave it a good go, but unfortunatly we couldn't get the win. Frustratingly, we had golden chances to score either side of their goal, but neither were taken. Despite the stats favouring them, we were probably just as good as they were, even their manager said they were lucky to get the late winner.

Our next game was against 5000-1 to win the league MYPA. This really should be a game we are winning with ease and Albert Kuqi gave us the lead with a turn and shot in off the post after 21 minutes. From there MYPA rallied and eventually took the lead. Otaru scored a penalty to equalise for us but MYPA managed to hold us out and took the single point home. Not a great game, need to improve on that quickly!

The next league game was yet another game against FC Lahti. This will be the fourth time we've played them this season already. Thankfully it turned out to be just as easy as last time as we ran out 3-0 winners. Lahti offered little resistance, despite the stats suggesting otherwise, and that means we have finally got our first league win of the season.

Next up for us was the team that knocked us out of the League Cup earlier in the season, VPS. Since that game I have made a few tactical adjustments to the team and I felt a bit more confident about our chances of victory this time. I was right to be confident, we totally dominated the game from start to finish and gained revenge for the earlier loss by this time beating them 2-0. Three games unbeaten in the league now, going to need to carry that on for sure!

The first league derby of the season against HJK came at a good time for us after our two previous performances. But as usual, the form counted for nothing as we put in a below par performance and got punished as a result. We had more of the ball and more shots, but we never really seriously threatened their goal. Got to move on quickly from that one.

Should've won this game by at least 2 goals, need to be more clinical in the future! We hit the post in injury time which made it even more frustrating.

Terrible, just terrible. To throw away a 2-0 lead like that is ridiculous. Good job it was only the cup and not a league game.

Couldn't believe what I was seeing when we went 3-1 down. They had three shots on target and all of them went in, but we should've been out of sight by then. Luckily for us they had a player sent off and that allowed us to fight back for a draw with Kuqi equalising in the 91st minute.

Thats more like it, we dominated and actually finished our chances off for once. We did miss a penalty but in the end it really didn't matter. They had more yellow cards than shots on target so our defence did their job too.

Top tip, don't boast before a game how many clean sheets your keeper has kept. Also don't have a stab at your opposition and claim they are getting lucky with their wins. That is what the manager of RoPS did and that motivated me and my players even more to try and win. We raced into a 3-0 lead before they got two back but then the second half turned into a kickboxing match. How there was only one yellow card is beyond me, but thankfully Kuqi still had enough legs to finish off one last chance and send RoPS home with zero points.

Fuck you Juha.

The good form continues! This time we destroyed SJK and it could've been more than just the four goals we got as we hit the post/bar numerous times. This victory extends our unbeaten run to five games and has also put us top of the league abouve rivals HJK!

We weren't at our best in this game, but that combined with the fact we still won is a good feeling. Good teams always have the ability to play poorly and win.

All good things must come to an end, and this time we lost. That means FC inter Turku have beaten us both times we've faced them in the league this season and are now level on points with us. In fact the top six are now separated by just three points, although we are still top due to our superior goal difference. Hopefully we haven't lost too much momentum and bounce back with a win next time.

Well this game was a lot harder than it should've been. Not because the opposition were good but because we struggled to put the ball in the back of the net. Thankfully FC Lahti were utter dog balls and just the one goal from Mombilo was enough to get the win for us.

Honka were the runners up in the league last season, so that means we have a spot in the first qualifying round of the Euro Cup. We have been drawn against the current leaders of the Icelandic Premier League, Stjarnan.

Should we beat Stjarnan, then we would be facing either Estonian lower league side Tartu Santos or Shakhter Karagandy of Kazakhstan in the second qualifying round.

Next up was the second HJK league derby of the season. They had won the first meeting earlier in the season so we were desperate for the win this time. Unfortunatly it wasn't to be as the away side ran out 1-0 winners and moved top of the league in our place. We are down to third but are only two points off of HJK so the loss hasn't done too much damage.

Obviously we would've wanted to bounce back from the derby defeat with a win, but a draw is better than a loss and its important not to lose consecutive games if we are to challenge for the title. We should've easily won the game though, but as I said, not losing is the important thing here.
