Started from the bottom now we're...somewhere nearer the top...
I've seen a couple of careers around lately on this forum and others, taking lower league teams from outside the original database to greater heights. Now is my turn to give it a go. Its my last attempt at making a proper go at a career on FM16 before the release of the new game in four months time or so.
I've downloaded possibly the biggest, craziest database I've ever seen, which can be found here. Its an English lower league database spanning down to level 23, not fully complete, only down to level 23 for the Sussex league. And that is where I shall be starting. A team called 'Galacticos' took my fancy and so they are the side I am aiming to take to the top, or at least reasonably nearer than they are now.

As you can see, its a nice, small league to begin things with just ten teams in the Susses Sunday football league and with any luck it won't be too hard for us to get out of the division. Top two teams win promotion to the next step on the ladder. As you can see, there isn't much to go on for the Galacticos club news. Amateur club, obscure reputation, okay finances, valued at ten thousand pounds. We play our trade at Waterhall, pitch 5 which has a 250 capacity and have poor training and basic youth facilities.
And as usual for my LLM saves, its 'Dan' who will take on the mammouth task I've laid ahead, I'd like to make some progress early, after each step is completed I'll remove that league, hopefully speed the game up along the way. No past playing history and no coaching badges as we go from a complete nobody to somebody.

Pre season and squad round up - August 2016
Pre season has come and gone, very quickly as expected, even with all these extra leagues in. We're not in the FA Cup at this level of football so its helping processing speeds early on. We haven't made much of a change early on, a couple of staff are in to boost our backroom, a couple new faces to improve the squad and pre season round up on the pitch all here.
This is the best I can get in the staff room so far, it'll be an on going, building process that'll span over many of years, but I'll be sure to continue to improve it and over time, get the perfect staff room to fit the squad. Not a single member of the staff room has a coaching qualification, what could possibly go wrong!?
As always at these levels, don't look too much into the star ratings given at all, they are simply put rubbish. Hopefully we have a good enough squad to press on and challenge for one of the top two spots this season, the board and media are expecting a mid table finish. In a league of just ten teams and eighteen matches, I'm gunning for promotion.
A mixed pre season on the pitch, with form up and down, hopefully just getting use to playing with each other and the new formations I've got in place. Three attacking styles I aim to keep with throughout the lower leagues for sure. We ended pre season with four wins, two draws and two defeats, picking up four clean sheets and three of those in a row to end pre season.

First half season round up - December 2016
The season will be short here, not much to do and only a handful of games, however processing speeds arent the fastest, but thats understandable with such a big add on to the game. We've played half our league games this season already at the start of December so now its time to update you with how things are going here at Galacticos, remember, we were expected to finish mid table this year, are we on track...
Form proved to be very good for us, perhaps overachieving as you see it. There has only been three games which we've not won in our opening nine games. Defensively we've not been great, picking up just two clean sheets in nine matches however the six wins from nine have helped us sit in a good position in the league. Two games we lost we deserved to lose, we bounced back well.
We go into the second half of the season (nine league games) sitting top of the pile, one point clear. Our goal difference is the joint best in the league so hopefully we can now press on and expand that to help us with the margin at the top of the table.
We were expected to make the Quarter Finals, went out on penalties against fellow league side Bison Beer on penalties. Annoying as we came back from one nil down, however cup competitions aren't important at this stage of the career its all about progressing through the leagues quickly.
We're still in one of the two cups this season though, the Ron Pavey Sunday Bowl sees us progress into the Quarter Finals where we'll face Preston Dynamos. We've been good so far, realistically a competition we're in with a shout of winning.

End of season 1 round up - July 2016
Season one is done and dusted and its not been too bad, the annoying thing about a league like this with such low numbers in the competition is the length of time between matches often, but we've managed to cope and push on to the end of the first season in charge which I've survived at the helm of Galacticos. Having been predicted mid table finish, we went into the second half of the season sitting top of the pile, could we continue that form...
Our league form stayed very good throughout the remainder of the season, despite a couple of heavier loses towarrds the tail end of the season. Five wins one draw and three defeats were on the agenda for our final nine league games. We kept just two clean sheets in the nine games and two big four one defeats in our final three games could go on to cost us...
And unfortunately it did, we were nowhere near as good as Railway United for the second half of the season as they went on to be crowned champions. They picked up 24 points from a possible 27 in the final nine league games so deservedly were crowned champions. We're still going up though as we win promotion from finishing second place and the first step off the ladder.
No cup success for us though, we made it through to the Ron Pavey Sunday Bowl Semi Finals where we were eventually dumped out by The View, a side two divisions above us so nothing to be ashamed of. We had a very good run and no disappointments in bowing out where we did.
My first coaching qualification is on its way.
