I wanted to do a save with a relegation candidate from England so I chose Sunderland because for me as a German they are a "random" side. With Hull and Swansea e.g. I can associate something, with Sunderland only that in their stadium United won when City won their first title since X years.
First of all I thought I could create a 5-year agenda for winning the Champions League but as I saw the team... Oh man, that's horrendous. There are only 5 or 6 players where the Assistant says that their are good enough for the Prem. And I only have 13M to spend... So you'll see on my signings how desperate I was at all.

As said before, in my opinion, the squad is horrendous (for a Premier League Team) and for a big rebuild this players don't bring enough money. So I hope that with the TV-Money I can rebuild completely next summer. This year the transfers are admittedly a little bit "strange". I can't say more about this signings... But I regret it a little bit signing players like this in a save I'm posting here.
This squad isn't good enough for the Premier League in my opinion. Also three of our best players are on loan. At least I could extend the loan of Denayer until 2018 but it's absolutely necessary to do a complete rebuild when I want to go for bigger targets with Sunderland, as I said before.
At least the friendlies were pretty good. Against Hertha we were the better team and the win over Europa League participants Sassuolo wasn't that bad I think.

Sunderland AFC - August 2016
The season starts with a trip to Burnley, which is a vital game to see if this team and tactics are able to hold us in the league. Especially because it's followed by two matches against Arsenal and Chelsea at Stadium Of Light. Between this two clashes with giants, there will be our EFL Cup 2nd Round Tie vs. Northampton.
The month was solid in my opinion. We had a good start in Burnley, where we should've been like 4:0 up after 20 minutes, then they made the 2:1 with a lucky goal from around 25meters and it would have been typical if we conceded the equalizer. But in the end it was a good start to the season. With a glimmer of hope I went into the game with Arsenal, which was killed after a few minutes when they were already 2:0 up.
After Januzajs goal for 1:2 we had a good phase but weren't able to score the important 2:2. After halftime Arsenal killed us with an early goal and after Rodwells red card and a 4th goal the only thing I was caring about was to don't get a total battering. The game against Northampton was bad, I played a heavily rotated side and they showed me that they are as bad as my Assistant tells me. We won through an O'Shea header. The loss against Chelsea looks pretty clear, but it wasn't. Defoe scored an equalizer after Hazard brought the Chelsea lead with a penalty. You could say we were the better team but in the end the individual class of the Blues brought them two more Goals and a win at Stadium Of Light.
Unfortunately I missed to make a screen of the table but with 3 points out of 3 games we are lying on 14th place. The EFL Cup draw brought us a trip to Bournemouth.
