There's been a lot of talk about the recently revealed FIFA World XI containing no Premier League players - so, to flip that on it's head, if you could pick a team of eleven with seven subs made up only of players who play in the Premier League, who would you choose? What formation would you play? It doesn't necessarily have to based on form or this season's best team.

Petr Čech (Chelsea)

Branislav Ivanović (Chelsea) - Vincent Kompany (Man City) - Thomas Vermaelen (Arsenal) - Leighton Baines (Everton)

Yaya Touré (Manchester City) - Marouane Fellaini (Everton)

Juan Mata (Chelsea) - Santi Cazorla (Arsenal) - Gareth Bale (Tottenham Hotspur)

Robin van Persie (Manchester United)

Joe Hart (Manchester City)
Nemanja Vidic (Manchester United)
Jan Vertonghen (Tottenham Hotspur)
Jack Wilshere (Arsenal)
Eden Hazard (Chelsea)
Wayne Rooney (Manchester United)
Luis Suarez (Liverpool)

Yeah, bit of bias there. I was thinking of someone like Shawcross or Jagielka, but my Arsenal brain got the best of me and I went for Vermaelen. Vidic would be right in alongside Kompany if he hadn't been injured for so long.

I don't really understand the concept of the selection. If you're not basing it on this season or form then it's effectively is a best Premier League XI, is it not? Which if so, majority of those players wouldn't get a look in.

If you're given an unlimited amount of money to build your own fantasy side, who would you buy? It's up to you if you wanted to base your team around recent form, in which case you might, for example, want to bring in Bassong over Vidic, but it's down to personal preference.

That makes things a little clearer. OP is a little misleading as to the basis of selection.

I think he means best current XI, but not based on form, based on how good players are.

GK - Joe Hart

RB? - Mathieu Debuchy
LB - Ashley Cole
CB - Vincent Kompany
CB - Fabricio Coloccini

CM - Marouane Fellaini
CM - Yaya Toure

AMR - Luis Suarez
AMC - Juan Mata
AML - Gareth Bale

FC - Robin van Persie

Still think Joe Hart is one of the best in the world, needs to start acting like it though. I don't think there is an exceptional RB in the league, Glen Johnson, Rafael and Kyle Walker are all good, but I couldn't really decide between them. Kompany and Coloccini should be the best partnership, but Colo has been nowhere near the quality this season. The rest of the team picks itself, imo, maybe someone in ahead of Fellaini considering he doesn't really play CM anymore, maybe Cabaye. And I think Silva should be in there somewhere, but I prefer Mata.

Yeah, I nearly went for Cabaye but the thought of a Fellaini-Toure partnership gave me wood.

Or why they're playing Fellaini as a defensive midfielder when he is so clearly much much better at playing just behind a striker.
