India's a pretty big country. 7th largest by land, 2nd largest by population. We have a long, great history, rich culture and large metropollitan cities.

We also have one of the most vibrant sporting scenes in the world. We have one of, if not, the best cricket teams in the world. We have played host to World No.1 badminton players. We have the most successful Olympic hockey team in history. We have produced one of the best doubles and mixed doubles players of all time.

But how about the most popular sport on the planet? Well, that's where we kinda fall apart. The country is ranked 97th in FIFA's world rankings, and has rarely challenged in qualification for the World Cup, barring the 1958 tournament. The country has never won the AFC Cup, never produced a player to play at a high standard in one of Europe's top 5 leagues, never produced a top class manager of any kind. India have never really entered the conversation for "best ...." for most things football.

This is where it changes.

I give myself a lifetime. To fulfil the dream of every Indian football fan. To have my name uttered with pride by the people of the subcontinent. To act as a bastion for this sport to a nation.

I am Raghav. And this is my story.

Lets give a little bit of background to our guy.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/3vWuK35LtlNIzWyeNCRJOC0NeFKz5hZ8DymsQIZr.png

Born in Chennai, Raghav has had a rather quiet life so far. He lived the first few years of his life in India, before moving to Singapore. He started his NS age 18 and finished when he was 20. Along the way, he also took up a preliminary degree in Fitness and Physical Health from the Singapore University of Social Sciences. He has now moved to Hong Kong to get a further degree. And along the way, might get into the football scene there as well.

The first job he gets, you ask?

Kui Tan Sports Club. An amateur side playing in the 4th tier of Hong Kong football. Looks like a proper challenge.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/97ihc8RXdwefbeoSyj8G6CHkglh6HOHwY8SZBHJf.png

A little bit more about the club.

No point in showing squads or squad reports cause there's no staff at the club, will make sure to do that later.

The season preview. Expected to finish in the lower half. Hoping we can challenge for mid-table or top half finish.

With the first game of the season coming up , I thought it might be a good time to look at the squad.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/czYlqq1n33vQN5miYnYiOwcN2uQpjjnIZnQr2QHb.png

Lots of good players, lots of average ones, lots of talent. This is an interesting squad. Could be quite good if used well.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/EjZRKzcQQduzN3fqMBbZQG8UGg6whwHIUE1X2Z8G.png

The tactic I will be using. A bit weird, but makes full use of our midfield strength.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/K02Z1xl57cRg0U32OyZZSM4Y88mEisTuv52G4N3B.png

From 9th to 5th in pre-season expectation. We have gone from relegation strugglers to promotion dark horses. Not bad transfer business if you ask me

Let's get into the fixtures.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/yO5AzX9fUSiMzElfrGiXoKKCRUbAlmAbnzVXXCxF.jpg

Bore draw. Nothing really happened. This is one of the better teams in the competition, so I'll take it.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/rR6LTnxYxVg2RmxvxXUy2qixg1LpCwTvaScceIzr.png

Did we lose? Yeah. Do I care? Not really. This is the top team in the country, with access to one of the better senior squads in the country. They are expected to win the league. For us to lose 3-2 is not too bad, although I would like to sharpen up the defense.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/2naHw8uaQeccORtlcofDfABg96lUCmLkN3DeArK9.png

The league table. Doesn't really matter at the current point in time.

October's fixtures.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/LStKLARtgM3u0npMwDvRCjPbSuSVdK5jgS8P1UdO.png

A solid win, and first of the season. Lung Moon are one of the worse teams in the division, so the victory was expected. A brace from new signing Lai Kak Yi was excellent to see. Hopefully the first of many more.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/PiZNy4MPVVtMdnExr7Kxlfm9K7OFiUJrbBiaNSj2.png

Another solid victory. We didn't dominate, but definitely created great chances and converted well. A clean sheet, coupled with a penalty from right-back Wong Kin Tong and another goal to Lai Kak Yi gave us the victory. This was also the first game we used the new formation, as I was looking to shift to something more conventional and easy to manage.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/N2ZVNrxxtEpYBas2korcG6oOPuqEyZznNXFLe4OG.png

The new formation, a conventional 4-5-1. A more reliable presence than the 3-at-the-back that we were playing earlier to me. So far signs are looking good, will have to see how this develops.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/KaL1p2L2qhIApLVFbj9PPgUgMTRfNipRKC2w2nbD.png

Third win on the trot. Contrary to the last game, we dominated, though weren't able to stay as solid defensively. The game was tied when youngster Lam Ngai Yueng scored the winner after coming off the bench. Good to see.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/LTrMFAjBSy9OqiEJqJxz04b0mNIpRSPNd6yqCNPP.png

A very frustrating loss. They scored early on and we just failed to show up as a team today. They could have been 2 or 3 up, or we could have brought it around to a draw. Disappointing to come away with no points.

Ok restarting the series now, hopefully will be able to continue it. I will be adding a new rule - I have to go up the FIFA World rankings, just to make it a little bit harder.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/mQ0eSu0mMNiPmp0hHyUzaopS4yV9kDuCekmjStci.png

New club is Elman, the premier club in Somalia. Will be looking forward to this

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/XQ2kmgJRUmNKcN8b2Ep7FjphlQQtfDxVPKd47W0n.png

Club history. As you can see, a distinguished history, which I will be looking to add to.

The lads. Many strengths, but many weaknesses. We might have our work cut out to win the division.

Absolute bummer when you're save gets broken, my career game I had the same and reloaded back a full season, .aybe you could follow my save bro?

Good luck in Somalia, it's a country I've never managed in despite most of my games being in lesser countries.

Lots of things to tell you about, so lets get into it.

Fixtures:

Somalie Cup:

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/HO1aA2z1gMob0qHpB91Sux3KJmHpq0MzNaxDje4z.png

A good victory, and a good way to start off the competitive season. We welcomed mid-table outfit Muqdisho to the Mogadishu Stadium, and we came away with three points on the day. An early set-piece header from attacking midfielder Jamaad Elmi and another header from striker Musse Yusuf gave us the win, although I am slightly unhappy at the loss of our clean sheet late on.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/YCpsv3sST1POyqkeNFsmhLr0ZWBmxjYdqQW0j8UQ.png

This was very confidence boosting. Gaadiidka are not a bad side, and we certainly struck gold with the 4-0 thrashing. We dominated them completely, barely allowing shots, creating loads of chances and dominating possession. A sending off did not help Gaadiidka's chances at all. And the results were clear, as right winger Mohamed Amin Ali and striker Musse Yusuf helped themselves to braces in a great all-round performance.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/uId5ljdtc7KRAd72vqn9mIjCDoaKvLpA9oHE0FGA.png

A nice, expected 3-0 victory over amateur lower-division outfit Feynuus. Musse Yusuf was once again in top form, scoring another brace to take his tally to 5. Winger Jorbateh Getamesay punctuated the victory with his goal. Another dominating performance, and we are through to the quarter finals.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/hMqR4CQmo3S6QxaSz6CIU58G7goh4z51v3fI1Jg2.png

Another amateur side, another dominating victory. Once again, dominated play, created lots of chances and barely allowed a shot. Musse Yusuf took his tally to 7 with a hat-trick of braces, while centre-back Kifaayo Elfadi's set-piece header and Jabril Hassan Ali Roble's finish rounded off another pleasing performance for the Xamar Stars.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/rHK4Zl0iNQgSJ4El2y1fYX3EweDSmxGQu5uUwuE1.png

We took on Gaadiidka once again, and this time they made more of a game than the group-stage game. They were tight at the back, and despite our rampant creation of chances, it took till the 78th minute for the breakthrough, as Jorbateh Getamasey scored the winner from a header. A good win, and a Final spot is booked.

Its Cup Final Day. Could Elman bring home their first Somalie Cup ever, as well as the first trophy in 4 years?

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/bpBbKXoGi9obfxZgJ0EvZUNmsNMBRyctDzQa4H5g.png

Hell yeah we could (excuse the OneDrive popup)! Not to say that it was easy though. Horseed are one of the best teams in the country, and we struggled to break them down, despite the massive amount of chances (sorta like the semi-final). Jamaad Elmi even had a penalty saved in the 17th minute. But then, like a Somalian Stevie G, Yebeltal Abdi scored a 20 yard screamer in the 87th minute to gift us the Cup. Abdi, you beautiful beautiful b**tard.

Transfers

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/0sssLuzeoSNStmihcxi6GQSfLry6FPlktkwRjtHQ.png

Prospect for the future, Could prove to be a useful squad player over the course of the season.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/dZT80Ft0VDW73TvKsYmxGNSL7J9Q66FONZnvZUZA.png

Another prospect. Could also be pretty good in the future.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/zwarrP8QQt2NxNTJqqm2i16cYvddYqQdnkZ5T0Lk.png

(Again, apologies for the OneDrive popup). This one I'm properly excited about. Yusuf has been a phenomenon so far, but he's not highly rated by the staff or the league. Abdi already looks a proper choice, thanks to that 20 yard screamer in the Cup Final. The stuff of dreams, mate

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/ojznWkldvcpGsflpGkeRzOlVLOdfCvkkAGiOfoVe.png

Another exciting signing. Probably the biggest talent in Somalia, he looks like the ideal replacement for our 35-year-old captain, Sheikh Abdulkadir.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/eIAetWTq0CNi6waWDbdd8i5ch3N8OIkh5XIFwNqZ.png

(I'm not apologizing for the popup anymore, just deal with it). A first team starter, for sure. Looks extremely good for this division. Could prove to be a very key player for us.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/MXIkh7sUrQy0GnabBJIM4iNUhZdZRxr072ZEAJ7D.png

Prospect. One for the future. Can't go into detail cause there's too much else to do. Moving on....

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/opATb8Y7qsNhCwTbckCMbUqqAhsKYVNFKOO6MbzM.png

Same as above, if slightly better.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/jAdZ2UTUhdqJughepYGddZLRwYLOiATvC2Ne9WhC.png

Same as above, but slightly worse.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/PDVqQsKu7QERYnkVCUo4369JPLk8w3ZpPSj40xic.png

Looks half decent at just 19, and could push for a first-team spot before long. Him and Abdi are my earmarked "breakthrough stars" for us.

Celebrations

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/PWyEKLEAKEmxlMFbQSnSS8rMhFho4ONPHmzHLYNf.png

Nice to see that we conceded 1 goal in the entire competition.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/2426JEsHWoLNjEhdulV6HDXAdlOghyi4vzZHiIVq.png

Goal-scoring machine Musse Yusuf got the Golden Boot (or whatever its called around here), and midfield star Jean Jacques Burale picked up the award for the most assists. Fantastic stuff to see.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/NCXkRXaS97jWoiUDSY02pKhmaIt9iZIpTh2SHHku.png

The board didn't really care about this, but at the end of the day, silverware is silverware, and a first time win in Somalia's premier cup competition is only gonna earn me browny points.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/gDb1bO3eYOAVnKmVHRWtNMkEIA4daXgxvsdxFohm.png

Glad to see that the fans have such faith. To many more successes then.

Miscellaneous

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/4AJlqLufby38eMKeRKpasMC9fVmAbkb05RR9NRH2.png

Just a side note, but in the recently picked international squad, 9 players are Elman players, the most from any club on that list. We are all but the biggest club in the country.

Apologies for the loooong post, I had my exams so kinda hard to post stuff, will try and keep updates more short and sweet in the future. Peace out! (Is it cool to do that anymore? Whatever, call me out of date)

Well done on the cup win mate, looks like you could either build on this with this team or use this victory and club as a stepping stone. Will definitely be keeping an eye in this.
