Ha, that's intriguing. It is one thing I love about Football Manager, how the world moves around in the background and interesting things like these happen.

Those are our expectations for the new season, 2030/31.
Overall, that's a terrible start.
We began with lucky wins over newly-promoted duo Guiseley and Stockport County, before getting randomly thumped 4-0 by Burton Albion; they scored four times inside the first 17mins, unexplainable. We then drew 2-2 to Woking, despite leading 2-0. While Gateshead scored in the game's only highlight to secure a 1-0 victory. We've been unfortunate.
We're sitting 15th after the opening month, though just 4pts off of early leaders Havant & Waterlooville.

A good start to September, though we suffered some already crucial dropped points towards the end.
Victories were secured over Hereford, Billericay Town and Ebbsfleet United, with a Scottish Challenge Cup win over Kilmarnock sandwiched in there too; we'll play Billericay, the only other English outfit invited, in the next round of that. The month concluded with a loss to a poor Kettering Town team and a disappointing draw at home to Stevenage.
Our position, with a game in hand, is 11th. As it stands, we'll be level with the play-offs should we secure the points in that rearranged fixture; moved due to the Kilmarnock match - which was my 400th career match.

October was absolutely stacked, as we had nine matches! That's literally a game every few days, it has been very busy. However, as you can see, it actually went pretty well.
We managed to gain some good form, losing just once to league leaders Havant & Waterlooville; only to a 93rd+ minute winner, too. Victories have occurred against Barnet, Sutton United, Maidstone United and Fleetwood Town in the National League, while we've progressed in both the Scottish Challenge Cup (beat Billericay Town) and the FA Cup (beat FC Halifax Town) which is pleasing.
All that leaves us inside the play-offs in 5th, 7pts off of top spot but just 1pt from 2nd; most importantly, the gap between us and those outside the spots is 4pts.

I'm mostly happy, we just need to stop dropping silly points here and there - though the National League is a bugger to get out of tbf.
TinakoFM
Nice little win in the FA Cup first round over League One side Mansfield Town, despite fielding our back-up line-up.
TinakoFM
A long, long trip down south guaranteed for the second round.
We await the winner of the Plymouth Argyle vs. Portsmouth replay, both of whom are also in League One.
TinakoFM
Followed by a loss to bottom of the league Darlington with my first eleven. Standard!

Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the FA Cup upset.
I should've saw this coming in truth.
Aside from the win over Mansfield Town, we've fallen off a cliff in regards to our form. Draws to Newport County and FC United of Manchester, coupled with defeats to Darlington, Linfield (Scottish Challenge Cup), Chester and Portsmouth (FA Cup). That defeat to Pompey, a team two divisions above that is fighting for promotion, could mean grave consequences for my time at Bradford. The board set an emergency meeting to discuss, and have demanded a positive result next time out away to Morecambe (6th).
If it was for our overall form I'd understand, but only due to a narrow loss to a team far superior to us away from home? Odd, but it is what it is. Gotta beat Morecambe!

Pleasing enough.
December saw us secure four National League wins from six fixtures; versus Morecambe, Bromley, AFC Fylde and Stevenage. The other two league matches saw a draw and a defeat, the tie came against Sutton United who we were leading 2-1 whilst the loss came to league leaders Havant & Waterlooville.
The one other game of the month arrived in the FA Trophy, which we left at the first hurdle as Gateshead beat our reserve line-up; festive period is always busy, so had to prioritise the National League. That aforementioned cup tie was actually my 100th match in charge of Bradford City. First time I've achieved that in the save; was two games away from doing so with Limerick.
We head into January sitting 6th. Havant are 7pts clear of us, while Woking (8th) trail by just 3pts. 20 matches to go!
Philip Brizell has asked to depart the club, following a transfer offer from Scottish outfit Rangers. They offered south of £80k for him, which I rejected. He complained, so I've agreed to sell if Rangers come back in with a bid worth £100k; which would mark a significant profit, given we signed him for £0.

Impressively inconsistent.
January was rather short with just four fixtures, all in the National League. We fought two teams fighting relegation and two teams chasing promotion, managing a win and a loss to one half of both. Stockport County are a top seven rival, as are Woking... we lost at Edgeley Park to Stockport, before securing the points at Kingfield Stadium versus Woking. At the other end of the scale, Guiseley were bottom of the pile yet beat us with relative ease, though we thankfully fixed up and beat then-fifth bottom Burton Albion.
Those two wins were crucial, as they mean we remain in the play-off positions in 6th. It's extremely tight at the top, as just 5pts separates us and table toppers Havant & Waterlooville; while Woking, in 8th, only trail us by 4pts. Just 16 fixtures left!
January also saw some major transfer business, as young starlet Philip Brizell secured a transfer up three divisions to Championship outfit Charlton Athletic. They offered £100k which met our valuation, along with the fact he didn't want to enter contract talks with us despite his deal expiring in June - it was time to cash in, the club needs the money. I tried inserting a loan-back clause but Charlton, and a few other clubs who had £100k offers accepted, didn't let me. However, he has been put in the Charlton U23s so I've made an offer to loan him which they've agreed to, just waiting for Brizell's response.
Another notable departure is Frankie Walsh, who joined Doncaster Rovers of League One. £11.25k is a decent fee, given we signed him for £0. A shame he didn't work out for us, he featured just seven times in the league. Joining the club are Gary Page (21yo, RB) and Mark Christie (22yo, RW) from Championship duo Stoke City and Sunderland, both on six-month loans. Page has Premier League experience with the Potters, while Christie has some appearances across a few of the noteworthy divisions below the PL.
Lastly, we've had a rumour of a possible takeover bid. I don't believe anything will occur.

An absolute nosedive in form. No wins, no goals scored.
Not much to note about March - we've been hideous. Despite facing teams from varying positions, we've managed to let them walk all over us - pretty much always letting them score with their first shot/highlight. We've been a shambles. Miraculously, we remain just 1pt away from the play-off spots as we sit a place outside them in 8th; AFC Fylde battered us last time out to go above us. Long time coming, lucky not to be further adrift to be honest.
Also, bit of transfer news, Philip Brizell rejected a loan back from Charlton Athletic - don't blame him!

More dropped points to bottom of the table? For the third time this season?
TinakoFM
Five games to save my job.
Must accumulate 9pts across games with FC United of Manchester (4th), Barnet (10th), Ebbsfleet United (13th), Billericay Town (6th) and Kettering Town (18th). Those positions are pretty meaningless, given we've been terrible against everyone recently.
Needless to say, I'm not confident.

That, eventually, turned into a rather pleasing run of matches.
It not only kept me in the job, but also reignited our play-off push as we've moved into 7th. FC United of Manchester, who were fighting for the title at one point, are just 1pt behind us. That Fleetwood Town loss was the only low, low point, as we got wins over Chester, Ebbsfleet United, Billericay Town and, crucially, Kettering Town.
There are just four more matches left to fulfil. We'll face relegation-threatened duo Newport County and Maidstone United, as well as promotion rivals Wrexham and Bromley; those two being back-to-back... a make-or-break period.

One. Game. To. Go.
Surely not even we can mess this up? We host 20th place Maidstone United, who still have survival to fight for, while FC United of Manchester will play Morecambe, who are vying for the title.
