You're right, let's not discuss football things here.

I'm glad Carrick has got the recognition he deserves after a terrific season. I think Bale will win it though.

Nastasic not being up for YPOTY is the most baffling tbh.

Team of the year:

De Gea, Zabaleta, Ferdinand, Vertonghen, Baines, Carrick, Mata, Bale, Hazard, RVP, Suarez.

Harsh on Nastastic and Michu, imo.

Ferdinand has been better than Nastasic, but Nastasic is in his debut season and is much less experienced. He'll be in plenty team of the players to come. Don't understand all this Hazard stuff though, he's certainly not justified his price tag on this season's performances, Michu should certainly be ahead of him there.

No, he hasn't. Nastasic has been exceptional.

I agree on Hazard, though. I like him but he hasn't been that good.

I'd have him ahead of Vertonghen though, mostly because Vertonghen has played a fair few games at left back and partly because he's trailed off recently.

Nastasic and Vertonghen have been the two best centre-halves this season.

Yeah I'd take Vertonghen out for Nastastic.

As for Hazard I think he's been quite good given he's adapting to a new league, pressure with the big transfer fee and when you consider the bullshit that's gone at Chelsea with in regards to management.

In saying that I don't think he deserves to be in the team of the year.

If I score 40 goals, but then rape a dead baby the day before voting on player of the year, I still deserve player of the year. No excuses.

Although I don't think he deserves POTY, at least we've avoided the stupid situation where he's somehow the best player in the league but not the best young player.

Hardly surprising either.

I just don't think Suarez is the best for that team, bite or no bite. Just like I think the Bale awards are a farce.

Bale was clearly the best player this season.

He wasn't clearly anything.

He had a very good purple patch at the time the votes were cast and its in no way a 'farce' he won, but RVP and Suarez had better seasons, if you ignore the hype.

I'd have voted for van Persie, even though I despise him. I do hate Bale too, though. Oh, and Suarez.

It's been a bad year to be an Arsenal fan.

Former Liverpool hero John Aldridge has claimed that Luis Suarez should have won the PFA Player of the Year Award rather than Tottenham's Gareth Bale, because the latter is one of the league's 'biggest cheats'.
Bale won both the Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year awards at Sunday night's ceremony, while Suarez, who was in the PFA's Team of the Year, was booed by his peers during the course of the ceremony.
Aldridge's description of Bale as a cheat was based on his reputation for diving, a charge which has also been laid at Suarez's door during the season.
More infamously, of course, Suarez is now serving a 10-match ban for biting Branislav Ivanovic.
"It was no surprise that Suarez didn’t win the PFA award after what’s gone on but he would have been my pick ahead of Gareth Bale," Aldridge wrote in his column in the Liverpool Echo.
"Some will say I’m biased, but over the course of the season I believe Suarez has been the best player.
"Bale is a brilliant talent and I’d love to have him at Liverpool but he’s also one of the biggest cheats. Suarez stopped diving and now the PFA Player of the Year needs to do the same and clean up his act."

Oh the irony.

I think Bale has five yellow cards for diving, but only actually dived for one of them.

I think the thing that drives my loathing of people who support Liverpool is their, almost universal, lack of humility.

In all fairness there has been a few times he has dived and gone unpunished which evens that up

My response was to Jaygull's statement, not Aldridge's
