So I want to try something a bit quirky. I saw a setting for Extra points for two-legged affairs in previous versions and have never got it to work the way i expected it to.

So here is the set up, or at least how I think it should work…

Each team plays against the others in the regular 2 legged league system, but as an additional quirk each “tie” has an aggregate score. If a team wins on aggregate, they get an additional bonus 3 points. If aggregate is a tie, there is a penalty shootout and the winner gets the 3 points.

so here are some examples of what im expecting

Example 1

Leg1:

Chelsea 1:0 Arsenal

Leg 2

Chelsea 1:0 Arsenal

PTS:

Chelsea 9 - 2 wins (6pts) + aggregate (1pts)

Arsenal 0

Example 2

Leg1:

Chelsea 1:0 Arsenal

Leg 2

Chelsea 0:1 Arsenal + Arsenal penalty win

PTS:

Chelsea 3pts - 1 win -

Arsenal 4pts - 1win + aggregate

Example 3

Leg1:

Chelsea 1:1 Arsenal

Leg 2

Chelsea 0:0 Arsenal + Arsenal penalty win

PTS:

Chelsea 2pts - 2 draws

Arsenal 3pts - 2 draws + aggregate

What is actually happening:

FM seems to only take the second game into account when doing the aggregate score. So Arsenal got the bonus score vs brentford as expected. As did Villa. However Palace vs Leicester was 2-1 in the first leg and a draw in the 2nd. For some reason the game went to penalties - that may be to do with the penalties settings and I could remove that.

The weirder one, is Everton vs Newcastle, this one I would have expected to go to penalties, but Everton have been awarded the bonus point. It looks like FM doesnt care about the aggregate but only the result of the 2nd leg.

Anyone any idea about what is happening and how to fix it? Screenshot of the 2nd leg results below and the editor advanced settings at the bottom.

Quick update when I removed the penalty setting, it always awards the extra point to a team that wins the 2nd leg no matter what the aggregate score was. 😢
