Hi. I'm hoping someone can help me. I had some difficulties after my initial installation so I decided the best thing to do was uninstall and reinstall. But I also cleared the Football Manager 2023 folder from my Main Hard Drive, not just the Steam files. When I reinstalled those folders (editor data, tactics etc) didn't return.
What have I done wrong as is there a way to fix it?
Thanks
Brett Bayley
So when you reinstall the game and launch it those files will automatically repopulate in the drive and document folder.
If you are trying to install the game on a larger harddrive that is different than the default C: drive follow the instructions on this video https://youtu.be/N720ocWl0gA, which require a minor edit on the steam folder. Don't forget to include the all important quotation marks around the path: --user_data_location="path"
How To Change Your User Data Location - Football Manager 2022
Whilst Football Manager 2020 finally added back the option to view this location from within the Preferences menu, FM22 no longer hides this option so you should now be find the exact location for your computer by following the below instructions;
Go to the Preferences Menu, Select the Advanced option then in the drop-down menu on the right select General, then scroll down until you find the Location option that should look something like this:
If you select the 'Change Folder' option a folder select dialog will popup and from here you can browse to and select the new location you want your User Data Location to be located at.
Once done click confirm, exit and reload the game and the game will automatically generate the needed subfolders (such as games and skins).
Though if you are adding custom graphics you will need to create the graphics folder yourself.
Also note that if you have already created anything in game with the default location set (such as save games, shortlists, or tactics) you will need to manually copy the items over to your new location.
To reset your User Data Location to the default location, then go back to the Preferences Menu, again search for 'location' and this time select the 'Reset to Default' option, Confirm your changes then exit the game, and then copy your files back over to the default location if need be.

Thank you so much it seems like this will work. I think I did this but stopped one folder short when I did so all the folders are there but not in a Football Manager 2023 folder, should be a case of creating one, moving the folders and adding that pathway
