Unai Emery, the man who has just taken on the challenge at Aston villa after Gerrards Sacking. Today we look into this 4-4-2 system which he uses alongside the 4-1-4-1.
We tried to replicate his defensive approach, by sitting back when defending and letting teams commit before we go out and create our own attack.
It only felt right to test with current side Aston villa, but as per usual we needed 2 more teams to test. Therefore we decided to go with Villareal and PSG.
This tactic really did surprise me of how well it managed to do in the testing, especially with current side Aston villa. Managing to secure UCL football with villa in the first season.
