Hey, I have had several backup goalkeepers over the past decade in my game and I can keep non of them happy. I always have their squad status as backup for the first team!

Long story short how can I keep them happy???

I always play my backup keepers in the cup matches and the group stage of the Champions League or Europa League. This way they don't get unhappy.

Without playing them you simply can't keep them happy. The Steve Harper types who sit happily without playing for several seasons in a row simply don't exist in FM.

Whenever they start bitching, talk to them saying you'll give them game time but don't bother.

Should keep them happy for a while until they become unhappy again.

Helps generally if you have an old keeper who signs a back-up contract, but generally play them in cup games or vs easy opposition.

Don't play a keeper on the bench and just let them play all your reserve games. If they become unhappy, tell them they're needed for back up. Works for me.

My method is let the back up keeper take all the cup games, including the final itself. The Champions League is of course a whole different story. Another is to sign a youngster as a backup keeper, normally these youngsters are less prone to whining for first team football and if they do, flog them on loan to your feeder club for a few months.
