Looks like Scott Parker was suitably horrified enough - nothing, nothing, nothing, then as soon as it comes out he's gone to Fulham.

Neville is a million times better on a show like this, rather than commentating on a match. Commentating on a game he's like most commentators, boring & uninsightful. Complete opposite on this MNF.

MCFC: Hart - Zabaleta, Kompany, Lescott, Clichy - Navas, Fernandino, Y. Toure, Silva - Aguero, Dzeko
NUFC: Krul - Debuchy, Coloccini, S. Taylor, Yanga-Mbiwa - Tiote, Jonas - Ben Arfa, Sissoko, Gouffran - Cisse

I get the feeling we are going to be killed.

Why no Cabaye? He's not injured, is he?

He got through 45 against Braga perfectly fine and hadn't been a doubt. A lot of fans think Arsenal's antics have been a contributor, which wouldn't be a surprise.

No doubt Pardew's already got it ready as his excuse for a post-mauling interview, rather than playing everyone in the wrong position. Again.

FURTHER EDIT: Cabaye apparently is not even at the stadium.

Yeah, it seems too much of a coincidence to not be related. I read earlier on the Guardian website that he was expected to start tonight.

He was.

Pardew said the bid is the reason he's not playing.

Fucking hell. You're moaning about a guy making excuses before, he's made them. And already complaining about people playing out of position before they've even kicked off.

Pardew was not happy. I can't blame him though.

There were people saying that he would use it as an excuse at lunchtime when the reports started. He has also said he was dropped because of the bid.

Jonas Gutierrez in CM has the hallmarks of a bad idea. Admittedly it worked in 2011-12 when he played in more of a central role, but a CM of Jonas and Tiote on their own is not a good idea. Although saying that, Sky are saying Sissoko is playing in a midfield 3 with Tiote and Jonas.

Every club has their agitated elements to their fanbase anyway.

Yes people have said it. But people will criticise an unpopular manager for anything.

In Pardew's defense this is very, very unfortunate if true, as losing an influential player on the day of the game is going to disrupt any manager's plans unles they have an excellent backup on the bench ready and waiting.

If a popular manager plays players out of position then it's a masterstroke he's sacrificing individuals for the team. No one criticised Pardew two years ago when he moved Ba to the wing and Jonas to CM.

Man City will probably win tonight, regardless of Pardew does, they're a lot better than Newcastle.

Tbh the best I was hoping for with or without Yohan was a draw or at the very least not to lose 4-0 like we did earlier in the year. The Cabaye mess is a handy excuse, albeit very unfortunate as you say. It happened back in January when Chelsea had a bid accepted for Demba Ba on the day of a game against Everton.

It's not exactly a comfortable time for the club atm - the mix of unpopular owner and DoF, and manager in reduced standing is hardly potential for greatness. But then its tricky to know when game one is only 6 minutes old - some pundits had us as going down at the start of the 2011-12 season.

1-0 after six minutes. Ah fuck.

If Spurs pan out how I think they will then it will genuinely be nice to watch a league that has four genuine title contenders. I don't think there's any other first class league in Europe can boast that level of competition.

Much as Jonas is frequently maligned by the fans, losing a player to injury is not helpful.

Sky are laying on their NEWCASTLE IN CRISIS narrative a bit thick. They've barely mentioned Man City once and they've been very good.
