Dear Friends,

This is a tactic I created two years ago and is my best yet. After I guided Woking to the Prem I stayed in mid-table for a few seasons before I switched to this tactic and went on an incredible trophy run of 30 trophies in 7 seasons, becoming the best team in the world.

But now, two years later, the tactic isn't doing what it is supposed to. My idea in this tactic to have at least five players behind the ball at all times (The 2 centre backs, the inverted wing-backs and the half back) and then have a fluid front five creating chances and scoring goals. But I now especially struggle with the defensive part. I'm being carved apart far too easily and I don't really know how to solve it. I bought players fitting into the roles so they shouldn't really be a problem. I understand my squad is young (average age is 22) and needs time to grow, but still it should be working better than it is doing now.

Does anybody have any tips?

This also happened to me, until I realized that the standard tactic we use is how our team will defend and not how it will attack, then I noticed that the "support" and "attack" roles are how deep it will be to defend the first phase of construction, and not how he will attack, I have videos that showed this in my gallery of repeating the game 4 to 5 times, changing the roles with the same tactic and everything changes without changing the tactic. Example "inverted winger" if placed as "support" he will be less aggressive defending the full-back and slower to attack the space in our attack phase, if placed as "attack" he will be more aggressive defending the full-back in pressure and will be faster to attack the space, but it will play the same way both ways

Sometimes this small change will make a big difference, and if it were me, I would remove all those focuses in the construction phase and let them decide, because they play very well in the team's fluidity.

So basically if I want them to defend in the 3-2-4-1 that would appear in the attacking phase I have to set up my team like that too? Or should I make the midfielders more conservative in their playing roles? Cause my concern is defending the middle cause my full backs drop back into their wide positions too quickly, leaving open the space in the middle for counter attacks

How do you have to "attack" this player will never help you defensively, he will probably put pressure on the opposing full-back or the opposing defensive midfielder, so this defensive midfielder of yours will be the only one to defend in your defensive midfield, since your sides return to position.

I don't know if you know, but for example, the opposing defenders don't receive pressure from our team, if our team has interior forwards or inverted wingers, sometimes it's necessary to observe that too, sometimes it's maybe better to place your wingers as support to close from the inside

I played with your tactics, notice kulusevski (11) is not defending he is putting pressure on chilwell, but Yamal (21) is not putting pressure on Reece James, why? because he is an attacking winger, so he went to put pressure on the central defender

another thing, notice Sarr (29) has nkunku on his back, completely alone, because he is playing as a mezzala, in these situations the best thing is to change the defensive midfielder to the side, pass the sarr to mezzala but on the right side and the defensive midfielder to the left side

Otherwise everything is very well balanced, what do you think?

I would very much like to have contact on Discord that would be great. I feel like I'm interpreting some player roles wrong so I could use help with that thanks
