Can't join a friends FM24 Data update save file

Hey so I've downloaded the Enhanced FM24 Data Update and me and my friend were planning on running a multiplayer save together will all the updated players. We both have the database and are both able to create saves using it. However, when it comes time to load into the game in multiplayer, it holds on the joining online save screen and then just stops without a warning or error.

I've cleared cache and removed a bunch of face packs etc and I still can't connect to my friend in multiplayer. We've played different databases together before without issue, so I'm not sure what's causing it this time. If anyone's got any ideas, I'd love to hear them, as this is the first time I've ever encountered this problem when joining a network save.
