With this Out-of-Possession role the Pressing Central Midfielder is asked to step forward more often from his position to support the team's press higher up the pitch. The player will often take up a higher starting position during early phases of the opposition attack in order to be in a better position to engage players ahead of him. Because of his higher positioning, it's important to ensure that there's enough defensive cover behind him from his teammates.
You’ll notice the Pressing Central Midfielder pushing high and aggressively in the middle and attacking thirds, stepping out of the team’s structure to close down the ball. If the ball carrier is already under pressure, they instead press the nearest opponent. In single-striker systems, they will often join the forward to create a two-man press, otherwise will look for the free opponent ahead of him.
