With this Out-of-Possession role the Inside Outlet Winger is asked to avoid tracking back to help out the Full-Back behind him as much, instead looking to hold his position more in order to be in a dangerous position for a counter-attack when the ball turns over. As the opposition progresses play, the Inside Outlet also looks to drift into central areas. This allows him to start counter-attacks from the half-spaces, usually with the aim to receive direct passes between the lines.
You’ll notice the Inside Outlet Winger will contribute little defensively and only press if an opponent is very close.

- Holds high position for counters, minimal defending.
- Drifts inside into half-spaces to receive passes between the lines.
- Functions like a normal wide player in the opponent’s half.
