With this Out-of-Possession role the Tracking Centre Forward is asked to track back defensively as the opposition advance into his own defensive third in order to support the midfielders behind him, dropping back into a deeper defensive position. The player is expected to actively support the team defensively against central attacking threats.
You’ll notice the Tracking Centre Forward focusing on central defensive work, dropping into an AMC-like position and, if needed, all the way back to the space just outside his own box.
