Skins in Football Manager 26 work very differently compared to previous versions of Football Manager. In earlier games, skins could completely change layouts, panels, and widgets across the interface. In FM26, that level of customisation is not yet possible. Instead, current skins focus mainly on visual enhancements such as colours, backgrounds, contrast, and overall readability. While this may feel limited at first, the difference in clarity and presentation can still make a big improvement to long-term gameplay sessions.
This article explains how to download and install FM26 skins correctly, where to place the files, and what to do if something doesn’t work as expected:
Downloading FM26 Skins

FM26 skins are created and shared by the community and are available on our FM26 Skins Section. Each skin page includes screenshots so you can see how it looks, along with update notes and specific installation instructions.
Once you have chosen a skin, download the file and locate it in your downloads folder. The file will usually be compressed and needs to be extracted before it can be installed.
Extracting the Files
After downloading the skin, extract the contents using software such as WinRAR, 7-Zip, or any similar extraction tool. When extracted, you will see the files that need to be placed into the Football Manager 26 installation directory. At this stage, do not copy anything yet until you have located the correct folder and backed up the original files.
Locating the Football Manager 2026 Game Directory
Installing skins in FM26 requires access to the game’s installation files rather than the usual Documents folder used in older versions. The exact location depends on your operating system.
On Windows, using either Steam or Epic Games, the standard installation path is:
\Steam\steamapps\common\Football Manager 26\fm_Data\StreamingAssets\aa\StandaloneWindows64\
On macOS, the path is slightly different and is usually found at:
~/Library/Application Support/Steam/steamapps/common/Football Manager 26/fm.app/Contents/Resources/Data/StreamingAssets/aa/StandaloneOSX
Because these folders contain core game files, it is essential to proceed carefully.
💡 Before installing any skin, make a backup of the existing files in the target folder. Copy them to a safe location, such as a folder on your desktop. This ensures you can restore the default Football Manager interface if anything goes wrong or if you want to revert back later.
Installing the Skin
With your backup safely stored, copy the extracted skin files and paste them into the appropriate FM26 directory. When prompted, confirm that you want to replace the existing files. Once the files have been replaced, the skin installation is complete.
Loading the Game

Launch Football Manager 26 and load a save. The new skin will apply automatically, and you should notice changes immediately on the loading screen and throughout the interface. While menus, panels, and widgets remain structurally the same, the updated colours, backgrounds, and contrast create a cleaner and more modern look.
