Increasing the Chances of Board Approval
- Timing is Key: Request budget increases or facility upgrades when the club is financially stable.
- Show Progress: If your team is overachieving or performing well, the board is more likely to grant requests.
- Use the Media to Apply Pressure: Publicly discussing ambitions and growth in press conferences can sometimes sway the board.
- Negotiate and Compromise: If the board declines a request, they may offer an alternative, such as a smaller budget increase.
What to Do If a Request is Rejected
- Wait and Try Again: The board’s stance may change over time, especially with better finances or improved performances.
- Improve Your Reputation: Winning titles or achieving board objectives strengthens your influence.
- Consider Moving Clubs: If the board consistently blocks your vision, it may be time to look for a club with more ambitious owners.
