I have created a 48-team Bi-Annual “FIFA Club World Cup” which is possibly going to be created in real life for 2029. The tournament starts in 2027 with 12 groups of 4 with the top 2 teams qualifying and the best 8 teams who finish 3rd also qualifying.
I have used the coefficient rankings for each continent to use real teams for 2027. With the qualifying, Europe get 18 places. South America 10 places, North America 6, Africa 6 places, Asia 6 places, Oceania 1 place and 1 place for the host nation. All based on the coefficient rankings for 2027 and no more than 3 teams from each Country. So, you will have to go down the rankings to maybe 10th or 12th to get the next team.
I have copied the fixture structure and knockout rounds as the same as the “FIFA World Cup” and used the host nations very similar. So, 2027 the host nations are U.S.A., Mexico and Canada, with 2029 being Spain, Portugal & Morocco etc.
From 2029 onwards the teams are picked as following, the European qualification would be the last 4 winners of the ‘UEFA Champions League” with the other 14 places entered by the top places in the Coefficient rankings. Unfortunately, I can’t control how many teams come from each Nation. I would like to keep it to 3 from each but there is nothing in the pre-game editor to control this. The same would be from South America etc, with the last 4 Winners of the Copa Libertadores and then the best 6 top rankings via coefficients. There would also be a spot for a Host Nation team and from testing the first host nation gets the spot.
All the histories for the 2025 competition have been updated, With Chelsea winners etc. Also, there is a rolling coefficient qualifying process I created so in 2029 the qualifying process will be based on the top teams registered in 2029 and so on.
I have created similar awards to real life with the Golden Boot, Young Player of the Tournament, Dream Team, Golden Glove and Fair Play Award.
The Fifa Club World Cup – 48 teams, 12 groups of 4, 16 venues from each host nation, similar to real life as with the “FIFA World Cup”, top 2 teams qualify with the best 8, 3rd placed teams also qualify. Group stage> Round of 32>Round of 16>Quarter Finals>Semi-Finals>Third Place Playoff>Final.
If I find a way of adjusting the qualification process where only 3 teams from each Country are picked for the tournament from 2029 onwards, I will update.
I have included a logo to run with the competition with the ID 2000534810 but depending on your files loaded this may change and you may have to change the ID and create a config file.
Once FM27 is released I will update the file accordingly.
