So I've taken the reigns at Old Trafford on an initial one year contract. Eventually I'll mould, shape and produce a team of my own, but honestly I doubt I'll change much in my first season at the club. Perhaps I'll send Anderson, Alexander Büttner and Ashley Young on their way, but that just depends on potential suitors obviously.

My first piece of business was to introduce myself to the players and I let them know I'm confident we can win the Barclays Premier League this season. The board expect me to challenge, which is fair enough, I've agreed to that, although as current champions I'll be hoping we can retain our crown and the players seem to agree with me.

Clearly star striker Robin van Persie is going to be my bff (best friend forever) which is nice!!

I'll be beginning the game in January 2013 as it allows me to choose my own pre-season fixtures.

After looking at the squad I noticed a few players that I believe will feature heavily over the next season or two for the club have contracts expiring soon, so naturally it was time to negotiate and secure their futures. Patrice Evra, Fábio, Nemanja Vidić, Michael Carrick, Adnan Januzaj and Jesse Lingard have all signed new deals.

Heading into our pre-season our transfer business is pretty much done and dusted. I decided the Manchester United careers of Anderson, Alexander Büttner, Ashley Young and Federico Macheda were over so they all left, to be honest no real surprise there. The surprises come with the departures of Danny Welbeck and Nani for a combined amount of £52 million. Personally I think we've enough midfielders to play with one up front if needed and I believe Javier Hernández is a better goalscorer than Danny Welbeck so I reluctantly decided to let him go for £22 million.

I had my eyes on Xherdan Shaqiri and when Chelsea decided to part way with £30 million for Nani I decided to accept. I've brought in Keisuke Honda as I feel he can offer another option and is a very creative player, whilst I broke the clubs transfer record to secure David Alaba who can play competently in no less than eight positions.

Pre-season is over and we managed to win every game which will hopefully build confidence heading into my first season at Old Trafford. In total we scored 23 goals and conceded just 5 during pre-season, so I'm confident going into the season that we can challenge for the Barclays Premier League title. Chris Smalling and Darren Fletcher are the only unavailable players for the upcoming McDonald's FA Community Shield clash against Wigan Athletic.

Alaba can play in so many positions and will only get better with age, a must buy if you can afford it I reckon. As for Shaqiri he can play on either wing and I felt is going to be a better option than Ashley Young or Nani.
