Yeah 3 in a row will be nice, then again there's going to be huge pressure on us to deliver, and I'm not too sure that we can prevent a choke.
Would love to, considering he'll be good for top-level football for the next 10 seasons if he develops properly.
I'd need to actually leave Smouha before that though, and that means actually winning the CL in 10 years...
-----------------------------
March youth intake update:
Unbeaten, which is good; dropping points against minnows Suez FC, not so.
Also you'll see that after the Suez draw Abdellaoui dumped 5 against another minnow after I forgot to sub him off when he already had his hat-trick.
Now I'm glad for his goalscoring exploits (that's 9 in just these 6 games) but he could do with more consistent scoring.
Still behind Al Moqaoloun, though it does mean the pressure would be on them, and there is still time.
Zamalek have properly shot themselves in the foot though, now that El Gouna have reeled them in.
But at least they're not Al-Ahly.
Champions League now:
Nervous, but eventually easy.
Easier.
We've met previously a couple of months, a win each in the Confederation Cup group stage.
No idea if they'll be as easy as they were least year, but they are top of the Ghanian top flight, so clearly it's not going to be a thrashing.
Transfers:
Bingo! A no-brainer to insert that clause considering his ability, but on hindsight maybe I should have held out for a bigger to get him, instead of selling him to a middleman club.
Nevertheless, I have to count my blessings, given our financial state.
And I've managed to farm Farouk out, too bad this happened:
Not the best news, but it shouldn't affect him too much, fingers crossed.
Youth intake now:
Not the best, primarily because I already have a left wing prospect, and I was hoping for a defensive prospect to cover for Zakaria's eventual departure.
More like "Dour Kamel" amirite? ....
Basically they have speed, and not much else.
Can I use them? We shall see.

We return with a match against Koroum, where we were unconvincing, took a lucky lead, then capitulated in spectacular fashion - needless to say the inevitable happened.
Luckily we followed that up with 2 straight 3-goal wins - only to pull another terrible performances out of our arses against El Gouna, saved only by a last gasp effort.
We then won our next 3 games with varying degrees of conviction, to go 6 unbeaten.
Al Moqaoloun had matched our results for the most part, only to falter in the most vital of stages, too leave us with these standings:
Basically, we only needed to match their result in Matchday 33 and we'll be champions - only thing is, we were playing them in said penultimate match:
Excellent show of our credentials - putting the ghost of our last meeting aside and giving them a taste of their own medicine.
Only problem I had with this was that we'd still be second-best if it did come down to head-to-head - not that I needed to care though:
Slightly clutching at straws methinks, when you find that our other trophy was the Super Cup.
Now that's a story.
Last match would be a dead rubber as a result, and I gave it the Instant Result treatment:
Meh.
So we win with a game to spare, but Moqaoloun managed to lose the plot completely and end up third, behind Zamalek, who did well to recover from their mid-season blip to qualify for the CL again.
But look at Al-Ahly, down in 11th - despite having an injury-prone rookie goalkeeper as their only shotstopper, their defence managed a (relatively) respectable 6th in goals conceded - it was their attack that was dire, 6th from bottom!
It's cost them a manager, continental competition for at least the next year and a half, and unless they actually sign another stopper things might get worse.
Players of the season:
Hands down signing of the season, probably my best signing ever.
He was never going to be as good as Mahmoud Ibrahim, but he wasn't here to do what Ibrahim did - he was here to be our set-piece expert.
Averaging a goal or assist a game, I've finally got a proper corner taker.
In fact he's so good I've decided to sign him on a Bosman, at his age it might be a risk but I do feel it's a risk well worth taking.
Player of the Season, but only statistically:
He's broken some records, but it's all good for show only if you don't do it with any sort of consistency whatsoever:
Just look at this, he goes on scoring droughts, then finds a shit opponent, plunders a hatload of goals, and goes around showing off his record numbers.
Not on my watch.
The pretender to the striker's throne has come to the fore, and earned himself a new deal.
Well it'll probably mean a better transfer fee if I'm honest, you can only hold them off for so long.
Now for the Champions League:
Terrible start, but our quality showed as we eventually romped to the finish.
Probably easier, unfortunately we took our foot off the gas far too early.
2nd best team in DR Congo, behind TP Mazembe - which isn't saying a lot, considering they've shared all the league titles between them in this career.
Are they better? Are they worse? Well we'll have to play them to find out:
Rode our luck slightly, but comfortable overall.
Without a doubt the most harrowing 2nd half I sat through, ever.
5 goals up on aggregate and with 2 away goals, you'd think it'd be enough.
Their 1st - "It's a consolation"
2nd - "Another consolation, meh"
After the third you start to get real nerves, then Soliman gets himself sent off to exacerbate our predicament, idiot.
Then their 4th goes in, then a 5th (through a dubious penalty) to set ourselves up for the most agonising finish to a match I've seen.
So the man I've signed to spearhead our CL assault will miss the 1st 3 matches, after which we might not even be in the running when he returns - what a fucking moron.
I wasn't sure about our chances in the group stages, but after that collapse all bets are off - I'll be happy with just the prize money for finishing bottom.
It's not too shabby too, even if all 6 group matches end in defeats and we finish bottom, we still get to pocket around 800k, which is 800k more than what we got in prize money when we topped the group in our previous Confederation Cup campaigns - this truly is the big time.
As usual, Egypt Cup updates match-by-match to follow.

Terribly easy performance, with Hafez putting in an impressive goalscoring display.
It's probably to celebrate this:
It's probably an awful amount of money to pay a 32-year old, but it seems that no money can buy Egyptian setpiece takers any more, so I'll have to stick with what I know.
It's actually a derby (we play in the same stadium), but apparently we've got no real rivalry of any sorts.
Eric Portapotty
None of them will play any further part in the Egypt Cup as a result.
On the plus side, cash money!
Rested the regulars as a result of the callups and in anticipation of the next cup round.
We weren't in any real trouble (bar a slight spell under pressure near the end), but it'd disappointing that we didn't pull away with a comfortable lead.
Bit early, at least we can get it out of the way earlier.
MORE CASH MONEY

We were regarded as underdogs in this match having has a couple of key players away for the World Cup, so it's commendable that their replacements stepped up to the plate to contribute.
We're now undisputed favourites, which doesn't go down too well with me, knowing that a possibility of buckling under the pressure will be higher than ever.
At least it's 2 more matches at most before the season ends and I can start planning for next season (and our CL campaign).
Eric Portapotty
Much easier than I expected, helped by the fast that 2 of their 3 best men were out with injuries, while the 3rd was also at the World Cup.
In the other semi:
So only Masry stand between us and a successful defence... shudders
Eric Portapotty
I was right to shudder, finals were always going to be difficult, and so it proved.
Hafez as top scorer, consolation I guess.
Probably a seasonal postscript to come, or just straight to preseason.

Real tough man, but some you win some you lose, I guess.

Same old, again naming the wrong player as my best signing this season.
Oh yeah, back to our old ways.
Not that this helps - despite winning a 3rd consecutive league title and reaching the last 2 cup finals the board has managed to reduce the sponsorship money.
Every penny counts, and with these we find ourselves in the black - only just.
Seems like it's quite hard to beat history even with sustained success, but at least we're making progress, however slight.
I won't mind overachieving, because it probably means that I'm not underachieving.
YES! The fans have been wise for once.
He's really been rather good, barring the very infrequent absolute shocker (e.g. the Confederation Cup final 1st leg and that match against Vita Club).
Time to expand the ground? Nah, since we now have next to no money.
You know me, I don't spend unless I'm daft enough to, so I'll play safe and guarantee a title challenge.
Here's the preseason schedule:
We've got 5 matches and 3 weeks to get our shit in order, and with Egypt going through to the knockout rounds the 3 Amigos with the national squad could well not be able to play a part in some of our group stage matches (well Soliman couldn't in any case, the stupid cunt), so I'll need to dip into the transfer market for some backups.

Going well as ever, congrats on another title

It's about to get more rotten, I'm afraid:
I'll try to restore a previous version, but doing so on Win8 is a bit of a faff, so this might have to come to and end.
Fingers crossed.

Looks like it's gone. I'll still keep the file, hopefully someone knows how to fix it.
... Well that was depressing.

Really, things could have gone quicker if I did the right things at the right times, but instead I'm facing being in the red just 5 seasons after being acquired by a tycoon.
Wasn't able to build on my 1st title, and it took still more time even with the injection of money.
Anyway, sent the save to the SI boffins, let's see what they can do about it.

This has been moved to the HoF, if revived by the SI boffins I will move it to the main forum too!
