Giroud has been immense today. Run them ragged all match and made both of the goals.

Poor decision, incredibly poor. If that was a foul then Kompany's tackle on Ronaldo was. Minimal contact.

Then again Madrid should have killed the game after 20 minutes.

That push on Ronaldo was worse than the one he gave a penalty and sent Arbeloa off for and he doesn't even give a free kick.

Don't think this ref likes Ronaldo.

Good performance in the end, Montpellier never really tested us. Giroud was superb, Podolski's goal was fantastic. Wilshere's looking better in every game.

Genius Mexes.

Hmm, not working. He scored an amazing overhead kick anyway.

Malaga, Dortmund, Barcelona, Manchester United - Pot One
Milan, Real Madrid - Pot Two
Porto, PSG, Schalke, Arsenal, Shakhtar Donetsk, Bayern, Valencia - TBD

Looks most likely that it'll be-
Porto, Malaga, Schalke, Dortmund, Shakhtar Donetsk, Bayern, Barcelona, Manchester United - Pot One
PSG, Milan, Arsenal, Real Madrid, Juventus, Valencia, Celtic, Galatasaray - Pot Two

Pot Two looks as strong as Pot One based on that- the only uncertainties in there for me is Porto/PSG Pot 1 or 2, Celtic or Benfica in Pot 2 and Shakhtar/Juventus Pot 1 or 2.
Regardless- the last 16 is going to be absolutely superb- some huge draws.

Based on my prediction, my favourite draw would be:
PSG v Bayern
Galatasaray v Barcelona
Celtic v Malaga
Milan v Schalke
Arsenal v Dortmund
Juventus v Manchester United
Valencia v Porto

We're going to get Real Madrid and we're going to get decimated.

In all honesty, I'd only really fancy us against Celtic, Valencia and maybe Milan.

I'm praying that Arsenal and Celtic (if they qualify) don't meet in the next round. Literally no clue who I'd be rooting for.

Who did you support when they played each other in a qualifier a few years back?

Celtic, I think. I was a relatively new Arsenal fan back then and Celtic were big underdogs. If I remember correctly Eduardo took an awful dive in that game and I found myself shouting at the television. It's tough. Realistically, Arsenal have some chance of going far in the competition so losing in the round of sixteen to Celtic would be a bit of a disaster, whereas a win for Celtic would be historic.

I'll cross that bridge if I come to it.

I started supporting them around 2006, I think. My girlfriend at the time was a big fan and I wanted to adopt an English team.

I meant I was a relatively new fan in comparison with how long I supported Celtic, which has been all my life.

Holy fuck, that's a good goal.

Nastasic was quality tonight. He's unbelievable for a 19 year-old.

I'd just like to point out the assist from Giroud as well. He hit it first-time and weighted it perfectly for Podolski.

I have to say, that ref last night was a disgrace Minimal (if any) contact for the peno and Ronaldo was blocked off about 1 million times, Zaba's was the best though in all fairness \o/

Unbeaten at home in the CL this season, WORLD BEATERS!

Skip to 3:50, the goal is eerily similar to Podolski's last night.

Yeah, he wasn't great. He'd clearly lost control by half-time.

Couldn't believe when Joe Hart tried blaming the ref, he was crap but I'd say Real had more reason to feel aggrieved.

Yeah, how dare the ref give City a dodgy penalty send Arbeloa off for nothing and refuse to give Ronaldo a decision. That really cost them.

If/ when (but more likely when) Arsenal go out, I'm going to be rooting for Dortmund. They deserve so much credit for how they've performed this season. Improved so much in comparison to last year's campaign.

This. I love the way Dortmund play, am tempted to put a bet on them winning the whole thing even though chances are it won't happen, 17/2 is so tempting for a tenner

UEFA is considering expanding the Champions League to 64 teams and scrapping the Europa League, president Michel Platini has confirmed.

The changes would allow seven English club teams and five Scottish sides to enter at a preliminary qualifying stage and could come into effect in time for the 2015 competition.

"There is a debate to determine what form the European competitions will have between 2015 and 2018," Platini told French newspaper Ouest France.

"We are discussing it, we will make a decision in 2014. There is nothing decided yet."

The possibility of a breakaway European league, as mooted by Barcelona president Sandro Rosell, was dismissed by Platini who questioned the viability of such a competition.

"It's a question that is regularly brought up," he said. "I can't see how it could work outside the Uefa framework. Who will referee them? In what stadiums will they play?"

Rosell, who is chairman of European Club Association had previously said: "If UEFA and the ECA reach an agreement, we would like to increase the Champions League under the umbrella of UEFA. If not, the ECA is entitled to organise their own champions competition."

Platini also hinted at the introduction of video technology to aid officials' decisions, but underlined that it is by no means a foregone conclusion as of yet.

He added: "There is a complicated thing for which we might, and I say might, need video, it's offside. Because it is very difficult for the referees to rule on that."

Would be better imo.
