No, it's a film with terrible dialogue, bad acting, boring action scenes, awful film "science" and a completely preposterous premise.

I hate this idea.
Of course, a lot of films are made just to sit back and enjoy, but sometimes you can't do that because you think the film is really fucking shit and boring.

I love how the majority of films we talk about haven't been released yet, and have just hit torrent sites.

That is what you are supposed to do with action movies. They are shit as a movie to take in but good i you just chill and take them for what they are.

Nonsense.
If you can't enjoy it, then you can't enjoy it. Some people can enjoy things others can't. This argument of "YOU TOOK IT TOO SERIOUSLY" is just horseshit.

If you don't take Die Hard too seriously then it becomes an average movie to watch. It works for Die Hard

Die Hard is pretty much a perfectly executed action film even if you do take it seriously.

Pacific Rim was comfortably the best blockbuster of the summer. Loved the world, loved the spectacle and loved the fights; I had a blast. Yeah the dialogue is corny and all the characters are stock archetypes but it's made from a place of love and from a person that understands the medium and power of awe. On a purely visual level it's astonishing.

I don't even think the acting is that bad -- it's not going to win any awards but it's decent and does enough to convey the emotions of the film. Plus it's a fucking original story (though heavily influenced -- but what isn't?) and that's something to champion. People like Del Toro should be allowed to make stuff like this.

Django Unchained. I liked it, and thought the first two-thirds were awesome, but I lost a bit of interest towards the end. Christoph Waltz was fucking excellent.

Pacific Rim was shit. I went in not expecting much, just a action film to enjoy. Charlie Hunnam still has that stupid accent from Green Sreet, Elba was utter garbage, that Asian chick offered nothing. I expected the story line to be over the top, but it was filled with such basic holes. I'm still not sure though if it was that shit it was funny, or just that shit.

Oh and why were the big robots named after a drink?

I actually enjoyed Escape Plan, I think it's the best film either of them have made since they've "come back."

I'm interested in seeing it, purely because it's been described as old school. I miss proper 80s action.

I wish they still made action films where the explosions are actual explosions.

Apparently most of that is meant to be incorrect. He's made out to be a hero on the film but the crew members on board have come out and said that he's a maniac and wanted to be captured and disregarded all warnings and continued to steer closer to shore

Watched No Way Out. Extremely pleased with the film, seriously good thriller and... well I don't want to let on what happens, just watch it. It has Kevin Costner, but don't let that put you off.

Prisoners, with Hugh Jackman. It's great. I love the premise, beautifully filmed and very engrossing. It deserve to do well because it's a great film.

Yeah Prisoners was great.

I put off watching Apocalypse Now for AGES because I had the ending spoiled for me, but I watched it yesterday. Amazing film, absolutely loved it. Every single scene was so well constructed and poignant. There were scenes I was watching which when they ended I just wanted to see again. Robert Duvall's character is brilliant.

Finally watched Oldboy this morning too, really fucking good.

Does anyone else use Letterboxd.com btw? I've got Abbott on there. It's a website for keeping a diary of films you've seen and you can rate films and see what other people have given it etc. Pretty cool.

Watched Insomnia. Al Pacino is awesome, as always. I also really like Robin Williams when he's not being a dick.
