This file is intended for version 14.3.0 of FM14, and will need to be re-applied if/when patches/updates are released to ensure full compatibility. This is due to the fact that some files which are removed when installing this file are re-installed when patches come out.
The sortitoutsi real names fix changes the instances of fake names in Football Manager 14 to the proper, real life names for awards, cities, stadiums and competitions, in cases where the actual name is not licensed. It will also fix the fact that the German National team doesn't call up real players. These are fully save-game compatible.
There is also a club name changes file, which changes the names of clubs in a way which ensures that any nicknames entered in the default database are retained. This file includes the proper names for Italian and French clubs to circumvent licensing restrictions. It also adds real-life media and journalists, with 23 media files added to encompass all major footballing nations and continents. It also includes a small file to correct some incorrect national kit colours and ones whose kits were not displaying. Finally, it includes a small file which corrects the 3-Letter competition names to correspond with any changes made in the lnc files. For all these files to work, however, you will need to start a new game.
Magrippinho very helpfully created a YouTube video on how this file should be installed. Some of the contents are different - but the procedure is identical, although of course you use the equivalent folder for FM14.
Or, you can follow the below instructions to install this file:
Step 1: Go to
PC
Step 2: Delete the dbc, edt and lnc folders from the folder above
Step 3: Copy the dbc, edt and lnc folder from this download into the folder mentioned in step 1.
Step 4: Go to:
Step 6: Keeping the folder in step 5 open, go back to the file you downloaded and open the folder named "editor data files".
Step 7: Copy everything from the folder in step 6 into the folder mentioned in step 5.
To check if the file is working, go to the Champions Cup and EURO Vase, and they should be renamed to Champions League and Europa League respectively. If you are in the middle of a save-game, German national teams will be populated in the next instance that players are called up, and not instantly.

Search in the award section of the editor for the entry with UID 125798-801, those are the UIDs for Goalkeeper - Forward of the Year.
They are already edited in the Awards.lnc file so you can edit them in there using Notepad.
This one can only be opened with the pre-game editor.
Kevin
I have searched in editor for them but I can't find them so I want to know what to look for as I have tried the ID number and nothing comes up and also tired goalkeeper etc but nothing comes up.

Sorry if this has already been answered before!
EDIT: I've bought the game as a Steam download, does this influence anything? Actually can't even find the Pre-Game Editor.

However, this year I have a small problem. I am sure I installed the files correctly. The competition names, team names etc are all correct.
However, the German and Japanese teams are still populated by fake players.
In years past I remember having to delete a file called fake.inc
I don't see that in this years instructions. Am I missing something?
And again, thanks for the continued effort you put into this every year.

Yes, the first post and the thread title will always indicate the most recent version. I will also announce if a new version has been updated by posting. Since v1.2 of this file was released, I have not really made any changes to the files, which will work with all the recent patches.
I do not envisage releasing a new version until the official post-January transfer window data update is released, for the simple reason there really is no need for the time being
If you open the preferences in-game, you will see a User data folder path, that is where the editor data files should be placed.
The pre-game editor is a separate (free) download, but you don't really need it for this file. If you want to download it, just read the instructions on the official manual on how to do so
If you have an original version of the game, that's where the game's location should be Try using your computer's search function to look for the 1400 folder within the Steam directory...
Thanks for you kind words, much appreciated.
I suspect that you either copied the contents of the folders in this download rather than replaced the whole folders or that some of the folders were recreated with one of the recent patches.
To solve this issue, you need to delete the fake.edt file in the edt folder and the all folder within the lnc folder.
You'll have to wait until the next time that the national squads call up squads for this change to be effected in the middle of your save-game. If you're not sure that what you've done is right, just post a screenshot of the two folders and I'll confirm accordingly.

I have only one objection - FC Red Star Belgrade is wrong name. It's the English name of club and I see every other club has original name.
Please change to FK Crvena Zvezda (Beograd). Belgrade/Beograd is not part of official name.

I had the fake.edt file deleted. It was the all folder that did the trick
I just purchased FM 14 on sale over the holiday so no mid season game for me. As soon and I finish doing my edits of the database I will start a new game and make sure that the national teams are populated correctly.
I have no doubt they will be but just in case something is still not right, I will report back.
Thank you so much for your support and again, thank you for your years of service to the FM community.

This change is already in the Club Name Changes.dbc file, which unfortunately only takes effect once you start a new game...
You're welcome and enjoy your game!

Lastly what is the difference between doing it this way compared to doing it this way?
-----program files (x86) --> steam --> steamapps --> common --> football manager 14 --> data --> db --> 1400 --> edt
Then delete the files that say 'fake'.-----
Thanks in advance
Whiteblack
I've same problem and i've not unique ID activated. Does anybody know how to fix it?
Thanks.

You will get the proper German and Japanese national teams plus the correct award, stadium and competition names. They will all work in your save-game.
I've no idea what causes it, but it's not related to these files...
