Nope, actually is a smart use of the laws of physics... it's not like he's hovering above the ground, you can see the trail he leaves behind

Rooney's agreed a five and a half year contract worth £300k a week. Will be confirmed later today.

I'm not sure what to think about it really. Ridiculous amount of money.

It's definitely very impressive, he's treated the club like shit, acted like he's bigger than the club, and gets a huge extension and pay rise.

Annoying.

The last question, what the fuck is he on about?

Basically, our plight is everybody's fault except his, and the PL are loving it.

I can't help but feel that the Rooney deal is a big mistake. He's almost become bigger than the club.

Madness to think that £550k is being paid to Rooney and van Persie every week.

£300k on the wage bill- that could be Kroos, Vidal and Shaw with change every week.

PS. Don't mistake that point for any sort of belief that United are capable of making any of those signings in their current state.

His answer to the squad rotation question is fucking weird too, only a good answer if Utd were actually doing well.

And what the fuck is the last answer about at all

Rooney's contract has been confirmed, four years instead, and he'll be club ambassador when he retires.

Well, interesting.

That press conference just makes me feel like he doesn't know what he's doing.

Wtf was with his last answer?? Does he think there is some Premier League or FA conspiracy against the club??

There's something inherently sad about Moyes' and his continued failings as manager of Manchester United. He used to be someone who was pretty much liked and respected by all but now he looks like a broken shell of a man who has just been worn down by the pressure. Some of the stuff he comes out with is just bewildering.

I take plenty of pleasure from seeing United suffer but on a purely human level it has been an uncomfortable few months watching Moyes and listening to some of the stuff he comes out with.

But personally? I still can't stand the cunt.

Anyway, clear proof already that these figures should be taken with a pinch of salt.

Rooney has signed a 5½-year contract worth the same £250,000 a week as his outgoing deal, which was due to expire in June 2015.
But while the contract has now been signed, Telegraph Sport understands that negotiations between United and the player’s
representative, Paul Stretford, are ongoing over the 28-year-old potentially tapping into the club’s hugely-successful global sales team to boost his earning power from his own personal sponsorship deals.
Such an agreement would see Rooney, who has deals with Nike and Samsung, maximise his individual earning potential with United’s commercial staff working on his behalf to secure lucrative endorsements across the globe.
United will continue to benefit from Rooney’s image rights, with the player contributing to the club’s commercial programme as before, but such an agreement would be the first of its kind in the Premier League and one which it is anticipated would take the England international’s earnings beyond £300,000 a week.

You were highlighting his new deal as if it were an exaggerated price to pay as if your own club didn't waste 50m on Torres with 150k a week being spunked on him.

I'd take paying Rooney 300k a week over some of the dross Chelsea have on stupid money.

No I wasn't. I merely posted up what he's costing United to keep him, which was listed on the Daily Mail site. Was actually nothing more than that. Good to see people are eager to jump the gun though.

I wasn't highlighting it in any light ffs. I merely posted the bloody breakdown of what Rooney will be paid as it was interesting to see, without any comment passed.

Again, people on here are too fucking trigger happy at times and jump the boat on anything.

For the record. I couldn't give a shit what United pay Rooney. Do I think he's worth it? Not at all. Do I think Rooney has made United look a little silly? Absolutely. That's about the extent of it.

Utter bollocks. The last post you made before the one you are being criticized for was 'Moyes and United have just had their pants pulled down', and then you followed it with a breakdown of his contract. You provided the context, no-one else.

Roy Carroll: Olympiakos ready for 'nervous' Manchester United

They look nervous. Every time you watch them this season you just feel that the opposition will score. It's weird - you don't associate that with Manchester United.

Well, we certainly felt that when you were in team, Roy!
