This file is intended for version 14.3.0 of FM14, and will need to be re-applied if/when patches/updates are released to ensure full compatibility. This is due to the fact that some files which are removed when installing this file are re-installed when patches come out.
The sortitoutsi real names fix changes the instances of fake names in Football Manager 14 to the proper, real life names for awards, cities, stadiums and competitions, in cases where the actual name is not licensed. It will also fix the fact that the German National team doesn't call up real players. These are fully save-game compatible.
There is also a club name changes file, which changes the names of clubs in a way which ensures that any nicknames entered in the default database are retained. This file includes the proper names for Italian and French clubs to circumvent licensing restrictions. It also adds real-life media and journalists, with 23 media files added to encompass all major footballing nations and continents. It also includes a small file to correct some incorrect national kit colours and ones whose kits were not displaying. Finally, it includes a small file which corrects the 3-Letter competition names to correspond with any changes made in the lnc files. For all these files to work, however, you will need to start a new game.
Magrippinho very helpfully created a YouTube video on how this file should be installed. Some of the contents are different - but the procedure is identical, although of course you use the equivalent folder for FM14.
Or, you can follow the below instructions to install this file:
Step 1: Go to
PC
Step 2: Delete the dbc, edt and lnc folders from the folder above
Step 3: Copy the dbc, edt and lnc folder from this download into the folder mentioned in step 1.
Step 4: Go to:
Step 6: Keeping the folder in step 5 open, go back to the file you downloaded and open the folder named "editor data files".
Step 7: Copy everything from the folder in step 6 into the folder mentioned in step 5.
To check if the file is working, go to the Champions Cup and EURO Vase, and they should be renamed to Champions League and Europa League respectively. If you are in the middle of a save-game, German national teams will be populated in the next instance that players are called up, and not instantly.

Is there any file I need to also amend for the change of player name to work?
Also is there any way to amend the competition colours? e.g. Champions League colour from navy & white?
Thanks for any assistance.

Make sure you delete the existing dbc, edt and lnc folders, before copying over the files from this download. Seems to me like you haven't done this. Can you show me a screenshot of your 1430 lnc folder?
This is the entry for the Romanian top tier in this file:
This is correct, I believe. Are you perhaps running some other editor data files alongside this file? They may have amended this entry...
How are you trying to change the player names? Is it through an editor data file or through an lnc file? As it's not directly related to this file, contact me via PM so I can help you directly, rather than taking up a whole page on this thread.
Re the competition colours, you can remove or not utilise the colour changes.dbc file when starting a new game, or you can open it with the FM pre-game editor and remove any entries which you don't like...

Yes, buy an original version of the game.

What you need to do, therefore, is going to 1400>lnc and delete all the files and folders which were recreated when you verified the cache; i.e. make sure that this is what it looks like.

As promised, please find attached the most up-to-date lnc files.
For those who already download v2.0 of this file released this Friday, just remove the existing lnc folder and replace it with the one attached to this post.
If you have not downloaded an earlier version of this file or are unsure which version you have, just download the whole file and you'll be sorted

I did not modify anything except applying this fix and was trying to start a game with 14.0 database.

I installed it fine, as always, and I'm pretty sure that in previous iterations fix worked with both databases, so i figured it is the same this year.
Any chance you add version for 14.0 database?
I'm sure a lot of people just like me was waiting just for match engine update and want to play with real (at that time) squads from July 2013.

This is a link to the latest version prior to the release of the 14.3 patch.

If I replace dbc, edt and lnc folders inside %path_to_steam%\Steam\steamapps\common\Football Manager 2014\data\db\1400 with the same folders from link in this post:
and replace dbc, edt and lnc folders inside %path_to_steam%\Steam\steamapps\common\Football Manager 2014\data\db\1430 with the same folders from latest update (v2.1)
and keep editor data folder from either one of them (they are the same), will both databases work fine (in case i wanted to start 14.3 database game sometime in the future)?

I wanted to delete the old lnc folder, as I do after almost every update, but the "common" folder doesn't appear in "steamapps" or in any other folder!!!
Can someone please tell me how to fix this??
BTW I'm using Windows 7 if it helps...
Thanks!

Apply the files included in v2.0 onwards when using the 14.3 db. Use the previous versions of this file when using the 14.0 db. Looks to me like you've swapped things around, somehow, so you'll need to re-download both versions of this file and re-apply them both.
I'm not understanding you. Can you post a screenshot of your FM14 installation folder?

thanks!

I already deleted the folder "dbc", "edt" and "lnc" and pasted the ones I downloaded but when I open the game still can not select the German national team. How can I solve this problem?
Folder
National Team of Germany (Alemanha in portuguese) does not appear
mons
Yes, look through the older posts in this thread.
Can you post a screenshot of the contents of the lnc folder please?
padaviro
I had taken these files from another site to the default version but the national team of Germany worked well. Do I have to use these file to the folder 14.0?
EDIT: 've Got! Not sure how but I ended up copying the same files to the folder 14.0 and now I can now select the national team of Germany
