Yeah, the idea of having one massive stand and 3 smallish ones don't really appeal to me. Reminds me of the Aviva stadium but the other way around

It looks fine, i'm happy to see were just going to increase the capacity rather than build a new stadium. Especially seeing as the stadiums proposed were only 60K capacity so this is the best of both worlds, also wont cost nearly as much.

The Palindrome is a class stadium, and there's a reason it looks like it does

Going back to injuries, we have a much smaller squad than the other top 4 teams, so I think we've dealt with it pretty well.

Which is a bit bizarre to then see people suggest you haven't been lucky.

To an extent you can control muscle injuries, but Liverpool have had virtually no long term injuries of any sort.

Liverpool have been incredibly fortuitous for lots of reasons this season, its why most have a sense that this is your year.

They've been just as lucky as everybody else has when they've been the best all season.

Yeah it's not a dig.

Most title winning teams have more than their fair share of luck.

Bigger clubs get more decisions from referees. Man City have had more than their fare share this season.

Im not even sure thats really the case, i just think the decisions for the bigger clubs tend to be more important so they tend to be remembered more than one in a game between say Newcastle/Southampton.

Bigger clubs tend to get more referee decisions going their way because they tend to control the possession in games and create more scoring chances.

You're not going to get many penalties if you're never in the penalty area.

If a referee gives a dodgy penalty against a top club then there name generally gets dragged through the mud. It generally doesn't happen in games between WBA and Swansea.

Howard Webb is the prime example, his bottling of decisions allows him to referee World Cup finals. If he fucked up against Ferguson's Man Utd, then I really doubt that would have happened.

Howard Webb's not given us a decision for about 3 years.

How does Liverpool doing lots of attacking, for example, stop the referee incorrectly not sending off Suarez or not giving 2 penalties alone in the City game?

Liverpool have had a very, very good season and probably play the most watchable football in the league but to deny that a lot hasn't gone their way, whether it be in terms of referees decisions, complete lack of injuries to key players or even the coincidental non existence of any real top quality teams to challenge them just doesn't stack up.

They can still be deserving champions whilst acknowledging that virtually everything that could have gone their way this season has done, with possibly the exception of their disappointing summer transfer window.

It's also fairly funny watching Liverpool fans give the explanation in terms of why big teams get more in the way of penalties despite spending a good part of the past 2 decades whinging and moaning about it when the shoe was on the other foot.

That's pretty much spot on for me.

Bigger clubs get more decisions from referees. Man City have had more than their fare share this season.

And we've also had more than our fair share of shocking decisions from referees with offside goals losing us matches, and potential leg-breakers going virtually unpunished.

Naaah Im not buying that. Im not saying we havent had our share of luck etc but it all evens itself out. City game for example we had the Sterling goal dissalowed when we lost. Suarez should have probably been off but it wasnt even as bad of a decision as some. What I was implying is the way we play, at such a high counter attacking tempo theres always bound to be opposition players going in late, leaving a leg etc hence our higher number of penalties. Suarez has also cut his diving out a little this year to be fair to him (hes still a cheating cunt etc). As for injuries weve had Gerrard, Sturridge, Coutinho, Lucas, Agger, Enrique etc out for large periods of games. The difference was players like Flanagan who have come in and done a superb job.

As for the lack of top teams comment I wont even go there. Chelsea, City and Arsenal are in better positions than when United won it last year

Nah, Suarez hasn't cut his diving out at all - that's wrong.

I agree with the rest of your post though.

This season, compared to previous, it has dramatically reduced. Seems to have came back into his game in the past few weeks, but before that you could probably count the dives on one hand.

He dove against Newcastle once and Sunderland once - as I watched both games live, these were both before Christmas.

Since about February he's been back to diving once or twice a match too.

To be fair he's been diving a bit more recently so it's making it look worse. Plus the one against City was highlighted a lot so that doesn't do him favours. But he is definitely diving less than last year, there's been many times this season he could have gone down but tried to stay on his feet and it actually would have been better to go down to be fair.

I'm not saying he doesn't dive btw, he does, just a lot less than last year.

Even using your example and nothing else those decisions meant you lost a game you should have drawn and won a game you should have lost. Thats a 3 point swing in your favour for the Sterling decision (-2 from City +1 for Liverpool) and a 6 point swing in City's favour (-3 from Liverpool and +3 for City) meaning that you're 3 points better off than if the correct decisions had been made.

'Everything evens itself out' is one of my least favourite football cliches because its patently not true. Take this adjusted table from a season or two ago and then disregard everything it says, except for the fact that it clearly shows that some teams will over the course of a season benefit more than others.

When it gets tight the finest margins decide the difference between champions and also runs, and luck is one of those fine margins, something that has gone Liverpools way this season.

I'm not sure where you're getting two penalties in the City game or whatever, but I'm not even going to argue about it cause it doesn't really matter. The result isn't going to change and we can say what could have happened for ages, but who says we still wouldn't have won with those 'penalties'.

And yeah we have had luck. But so have City and so have Chelsea.

he has definitely improved to some degree aye. But there was a period of about 10 minutes in the City game where it seemed like gravity was just too much for him and that was pretty frustrating to watch. But annoyingly it seems to be a part of the game now with the whole 'anticipating contact' debate, its definitely one of my biggest annoyances when watching football.

and as much as I hate to say it Liverpool do deserve the title, regardless of decisions. They could get a bunch of horrible decisions next season, these things happen.

I don't actually know how you watched that game and can't think of the incidents I'm talking about.

I'm not attempting to deny you deserve to win the league, or asterix your achievement or whatever. Champions having luck is as true for you as it was for City, Chelsea, or us in virtually any season you care to remember. Just a Wenger-esque blindness to its existence is just a bit weird.
