This file will need to be re-applied if/when patches/updates are released to ensure full compatibility. This is due to the fact that some files which are removed when installing this file are automatically re-installed by Steam when official patches come out.
The sortitoutsi real names fix changes the instances of fake names in Football Manager 15 to the proper, real life names for awards, cities, stadiums and competitions, in cases where the actual name is not licensed. It will also fix the fact that the German National team doesn't call up real players. These are fully save-game compatible.
There is also a club name changes file, which changes the names of clubs in a way which ensures that any nicknames entered in the default database are retained. This file includes the proper names for German, Italian and French clubs to circumvent licensing restrictions. It also adds real-life media and journalists, with 26 media files added to encompass all major footballing nations and continents. Finally, it includes a small file which corrects the 3-Letter competition names to correspond with any changes made in the lnc files. For all these files to work, however, you will need to start a new game.
Magrippinho very helpfully created a YouTube video on how this file should be installed. Some of the contents are different - but the procedure is identical, although of course you use the equivalent folder for FM15.
Or, you can follow the below instructions to install v2.0 of this file (if you are installing a previous version please use the 1500 folder instead of the 1530 folder:
Step 1: Go to
PC
Slightly more detail in this post
Linux
Step 2: Delete the edt and lnc folders from the folder above
Step 3: Copy the edt and lnc folder from this download into the folder mentioned in step 1.
Step 4: Go to:
Step 6: Keeping the folder in step 5 open, go back to the file you downloaded and select the folder named "FM15 Real Names Fix Files from sortitoutsi.net v2.0".
Step 7: Paste the circled folder directly into the folder mentioned in step 5.
Step 8: This should be what your editor data folder looks like. There may also be a config.xml file in this folder and can be safely retained; it is generated by FM every time the game starts.
To make sure the files have been applied correctly, go to the Champions Cup and EURO Vase in your saved game, and they should be renamed to Champions League and Europa League respectively. If you are in the middle of a save-game, German national teams will be populated in the next instance that players are called up, and not instantly. Club names (including the German ones) are only changed if you apply the editor data files before starting a new game. For a workaround if you've already started a new save-game, then please read the opening post of this thread.
Some of these changes may not apply in FMC...

thanks for your guidance but as a note these awards names are not specific like Ballon d'or. For example; I manage Real Madrid, I do not know Spanish and my game user interface language is English. So these Spanish awards names do not mean anything for me.

EDIT: nvm, forgot you need to start a new game to see changes.

Thanks for this - will be changed in the next version
Same with this
What player names are you referring to? As far as I know the game contains no fake player names, unless you choose that as an option before starting a new game.
I appreciate that, but I feel that having award names in the mother language adds an extra layer of realism. You can open the Awards.lnc folder with notepad and edit/remove any entries you want to.
I'm sorry but I don't have a Mac. Try googling for the location of the Steam folder within your OS and maybe you'll manage to sort this out. If you do, please let me know so I can add the details to the OP

I originally changed it due to the feedback from Serbian users and I'm afraid I do not intend to change it back again. To remove it, once the full game is released, open the FM pre-game editor and manually change the names back to whatever you think is correct. This change will take effect once you start a new game.

Thanks for the suggestion! I found the solution here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x4qmoYjTMoE

mons, in my file it has Red Star as Crvena zvezda - should be Crvena Zvezda!
Thank you for this - it's ace!
(Two tiny changes - Saltney Town play at Saltney Community Centre, and Llanfairpwll play at Maes Eilian)

If these are only a few changes you could do them within a save game by right clicking on the nations name and adding a nickname. This is save game compatible but will only work with that one save game.

Isn't dbc's make you unavailable to leaderboards... That's why I have 2 types of saves... (1 for no customization via dbc for leaderboards... 1 for extra lower leagues etc...)
That's why I prefer club name changes via your lnc file...

The one in the attached picture is an example, can you possibly change that background to the Europe League colours (dark yellow/orange) and CL to dark blue like FM13? I know other users have mentioned it but it would be good if names for teams such as Schalke 04, Bayer Leverkuson, FC Bayern Munich
Except for this, fantastic again!

Which version of the game are you running? Can I see some screenshots of how this issue is affecting you?
It could well be that the second teams of clubs in the top two German tiers will also need to have their names amended when the full version of this file is released. Thanks for this spot, I'll have to check them all
I seem to recall that some Serbian users recommended that it should be zvezda in small letters, but I'll check again and amend if necessary. And thanks for the two proposed changes
Can you upload your amended lnc file please? So I can see that what you've done is correct.
I've posted many times in this thread about how and why club name changes can be changed, please take the time to read these posts - I can't be writing the same things all the time.
I suspected so but it never crossed my mind previously. I'll fix it by the time the full game is out...
Thankfully, no Sometimes, when a patch is released, some of the files removed by this download are automatically re-generated by the game. Everytime this happens, I generally release a new version of this file which one should download and apply. In all the instances this has happened in all the versions of the game this file has been used in, never has starting a save game been necessary, and I hope SI won't change this policy...
Details, man. Help me help you!!
I could have sworn I fixed that - but I must have overlooked it. I'll make sure it's correct in the next release
I appreciate that - which is why I manually add (and hide) all the club name changes to the lnc file in addition to the dbc file. This way, people like you who for whatever reason can't or don't want to use dbc files can, with very little effort, change the lnc file according to their specifications
The UEFA competition colours are something which completely escaped my mind and which I will definitely be re-including in the version of the file released closer to game release date.
As for the German club names, you need to apply the Club Name Changes.dbc file before starting a new game and the problem'll be sorted, as explained many many times elsewhere in this thread

If you want, when editor for FM15 will be out, I can update this file with newer source, like websites/newspapers/tv programmes.
mons
I'll edit it out then. You can edit the existing file with the FM14 editor if you want...

I have two questions:
1. Did I have to start a new save game every time you make a update to this?
Eg: Today I start with this file, If you release a new one in December, did I have to start all over again?
2. And what about new FM updates? Start all over again, or it will be fine?
Sorry if my English is not very well.

As explained elsewhere, you won't have to start a new game every time an update is made to this as most of the changes will take effect in your save game.
Sometimes, when an official patch is released by SI, some of the files removed by this download are automatically re-generated by Steam. Every time this happens, I generally release a new version of this file which one should download and apply. It looks like you've not applied the files correctly, then. Can I have a look at your lnc folder please? Please make sure the folder path is showing clearly
Use WinRar to extract it.
