Can't see us going through. Needed to win the home leg but failed to convert all those early chances. Paulinho needs to be dropped and then sold in the summer, he offers nothing and we are always a worse team when he plays.

I don't think he was ever going to take it, such a fuss about nothing as is fairly normal when Balo is involved, i can understand everyone talking about it if he'd missed but he didn't so its a completely moot point.

If anything more should be made of how greedy Sturridge was for the whole game, disappointing performance from him

It looked to me as though Henderson was the designated pen taker, Balo took the ball off him and Sturridge was trying to tell Henderson & Balo that Henderson should take it because thats what the manager had decided before the game.

This. He's a very average player, nowhere near Gerrard's ability.

The fact that Brenda is grooming him to be the next captain just adds to the hilarity of the situation.

Why? The only thing he does wrong at the moment is trying to mimic those Hollywood long balls. Other than that he does his own thing, awesome player although maybe not captain material yet

The time he tried to grab the England captaincy from Rooney too - he's a good player, wouldn't say awesome.

Certainly shouldn't be starting week in week out for a top 4 side.

Aye but Liverpool haven't relied heavily on Henderson all season.

He's alright in a midfield 3, too technically limited to perform well in a midfield 2 though. Although he did have a good game yesterday in a two.

Same number of assists as Carzola and more than Hazard (although you could counter that and say Downing has more than them all!).

We can only really get away with playing a three at the moment, since Lucas (who's been brilliant recently) & Gerrard don't have any legs.

Too technically limited? Surely it's a physical thing.

Unlikely to ever see Silva, Cazorla, Erikson etc. in a two, where as they might in a 3.

I think he's one of our most important players. People underestimate what he does for the team. I'm not saying he's actually a world class player or anything, but he fits in perfectly and does the job needed

Which was a touch ironic given Gerrard's comments at the beginning of the season about him being the second choice taker. It's all a mountain out of a mole hole sort of deal.

Exactly, was a dick move from Gerrard and not something a captain should be saying on tv. Also what if he'd come on of the bench, i bet he'd still have taken the penalty so he's talking rubbish.

Really don't understand why one of Balotelli or Sturridge haven't been taken off, that goal was coming due to Liverpool being overran in midfield and simply not keeping hold of the ball.
