Would appreciate the feedback.

However, if you view the images on a transparent dark background, there is some snow on the left-hand side, particularly in the second cut, which is quite easily removed or rectified by the snow removal video in the OP.
Hope to see more of your work

My first work,is that good?
bakizp
This is how it looks on the black background. And image dimensions are 202x180
Go HERE ,download Transparency Change Action for all versions (ESSENTIAL) from the opening post, double click that ATN file when downloaded.Open Photoshop, press F9 to show Actions panel.Find "change to black" sub-menu in "facepack transparency" action ,press "play" button in the bottom of that panel.
Then watch THIS VIDEO to learn how to remove "snow" around the hair.
Also when you use the Crop tool fix it's dimensions to 180x180 (upper left empty boxes).

There's a bit of snow around the head. It can be easily removed using this technique. Also, the face looks slightly squashed - did you narrow it perchance?
mons
In addition to this, that is an extremely hard source to start learning how to cut out images. Try something a bit more simpler, such as players with shaved or close cropped hair, then work your way up to harder images such as that

photoshop cs3 im using, this was the original image, i just copied just under the chin so top half of image pasted into new image used magic eraser touched up what i could with the backround eraser then changed the image size to 180x180.
p.s. what is that box on the right side where the transparency is made black i cant find it
bakizp
Don't use magic eraser because it is not magic when cutting faces.Otherwise we would have thousands of cuts done in one day.It is only good when removing background from simple objects like squares, triangles, circles. Please read this guide from page 1.
Don't use Image Size option.Use Crop tool, set it like shown on image below. It will always be in perfect square shape, you just need to move it to desired position.Grab the dots placed on the middle of the lines of the square, and drag them. You can use keyboard arrows to move the square.Once you are satisfied with result press enter, and image will be automatically resized to 180x180.
Note: After you set the dimensions of the Crop tool to 180x180. you should also press the button left from dimension fields and save that preset,so you don't need to type the digits every time you start Photoshop.

Quite good for an initial cut. However, if you view it on a dark background, there's some snow around the head. This is quite easy to remove using this technique and means that the cut looks much better in-game

You can remove what we call 'snow', by using this technique
Parker26
I managed to remove most of the snow but I'm struggling with being able to smooth the edges. The last one had smooth edges, but had snow, and when I removed the snow the uneven edges came
Parker26
Had another go but I can't get the image to 180x180 without it being squashed
Baja
Not bad at all, just remember that it should be 180x180
mons
What you could do is change the canvas size accordingly
Parker26
Thanks. Would this be good enough to go into the facepack? cos if it is, I'll continue and do others
Baja
It will be,I've posted him in improvement thread, with correct size.If you wanna do cuts, try with easier at start, that's my advice
Parker26
Okay, will do. Thanks
Parker26
What size should i make the canvas to get the image to 180x180? And do i do it before i start or once I have finished?
Baja
I'm doing it after I finish my cut,at the end.You have image resize, and image canvas size, that's two different things. For example if you have image 500x500,just do resize to 180x180,but for example if you have 500x300,then resize\fit height to 180 and you'll get 300x180.After that just do canvas size to 180x180.Hope you undestrand what I mean

For example this one is not good.He looks too small, make sure that his top of the head\hair,and chin are much as they can be closer to the up and down border. Also, edges are way too sharp.I'm sure that there is some video here where you can see how it should be done.
Parker26
Is this one any good?
Baja
No mate, since there is a too much empty space between chin and down egde\border and top of the head and up edge\border.
.He should be croped on this way .Also egdes on the cut around face, ears and hair are too sharp, they should be smooth. For me you're cut for Brugge player was really good, try to cut all of them as he was.
Parker26
Alright, thanks. Sorry that I kept posting, I actually enjoy cutting and have wanted to do it for a while. Should I keep posting in here or shall I put it in the other forums?
Baja
At the start try to avoid improvement thread.I saw last two in missing thread.Black guy is done nicely, but German goalkeeper is missing a hair details. So as I told you before, try to avoid complicated images, with a lot of tiny hair details.Keep up the good work mate
