I'd prefer Arsenal to win the league than any other of the teams who might win it.

"Gerrard in this new deeper role" or something along them lines from the commentator. Erm, he played deep for the whole of last season.

I was out but apparently we played like drains again, save for Sammy Ameobi and Gouffran somehow failing to score.

If we don't beat Fulham next weekend then it could be a problematic campaign.

Nah Newcastle played pretty well, probably shaded the first half and improved after the break. Dominated the final twenty minutes. Newcastle didn't ever really look like scoring. Although West Ham had two really clear cut chances, they didn't create much else.

Pardew deserves credit for actually shaking up team selection, and making better substitutions, such as taking Cisse off and leaving on Shola on.

Fans were a lot better than last season, but still a few moments of negativity, such as booing substitutes (Sammy looked a lot better than Marveaux) and booing possession. Newcastle fans really hate having the ball. But they actually got behind the team for the final 20 minutes.

Anyway it's amazing how many fans are determined that Newcastle are in TURMOIL and are almost certainly going to be relegated, yet scoff at a point against a well organized West Ham.

Yeah really solid performance from us, didn't play brilliantly but its nice to see us grind out wins in games we'd have drawn or lost last year

Good result for Liverpool. Mignolet's save a few mins from the end was very good.

At the near post? It had a lot of power, but you'd be disappointed if it went in. Saying that, Reina loved letting them in at the near post.

Just as well Villa didn't equalise though, not sure what Clattenburg thought happened when Guzan took Sturridge down

It's so nice when your side wins in the early kick-off as it actually allows you to enjoy the rest of the weekend without that frustrating, angry feeling you get when you lose.

All the reports I've red from NUFC fansites and the media say West Ham had the best moments of the game. Though it says a lot of both team's attacking abilities that there was 1 shot on target in the whole game.

Tbf a point off West Ham is 1 more than we got in the home match with them last season, which I guess is a start. Three woulda been nice though. We also sounded better than the shambles at the Etihad on Monday, although it would have been an achievement to have been any worse.

We still need some new signings though. Fuck knows where from though. Apparently JFK was watching Marseille's Ayew but given all the false dawns for signings I'm waiting for any deal confirmations before getting excited.

We should be beating West Ham at home - no two ways about it.

Again too negative. Enjoyed the support of Pardew though - glad to see most fans know the predicament we're in is Ashley/Kinnear's fault not his.

Newcastle fansites are written by absolute morons though. (With the exception of NUFC.COM, whose match report who didn't mention West Ham at all in their match report.)

I don't even think Newcastle are in a 'predicament', most fans just seem to think the grass is greener.

What support for Pardew?

I don't get this negative stuff at all, imo Pardew has never been particularly negative. The main problem at Man City was Newcastle were far too open.

We haven't scored a goal in about 4-5 home matches and the last shot on target our main goalscorer had was against QPR last season. The likes of Jonas as an attacking player just doesn't work - he hasn't got a clue.

Pardew is incredibly negative with his tactics - his constant reliance on Shola is annoying too - the man is barely good enough for the Championship now.

We're definitely in a predicament, we have a clueless director of football, a manager that doesn't manage and a greedy as fuck owner who isn't willing to invest to take us forward. Oh, and our best player is refusing to play for us, whilst our captain tried to fuck off last year and main goalscorer is only with us because we caught him gambling. We can't score goals either, Cisse looks a shadow of a player he was when he arrived.

The regularity of chants supporting Pardew was what I meant.

Btw Cabaye can be sold for all I care now - fair enough wanting to move away and better your career, but refusing to play is scandalous.
