Lots of player seem to be have like that now to get moves, although that is pretty arsey.

Its fairly established now that this is not a result-motivated call (which hints he could've gone even if the Terriers won last night). Seems a bold call that could backfire, but clearly they're prepared to do it. Curiously, the Telegraph is claiming Klopp's former assistant David Wagner has rejected an offer to join him as he wants the job, although how much truth that has remains to be seen. Presumably the hope is Uwe Rosler or Nigel Clough don't turn up.

Also noticed a number of Charlton fans want Powell back. Given how he and their madman owner parted, maybe not.

Yeah from the outside looking in, the Powell sacking looks a poor call, and not least given its a results business and Derby bought a key player on deadline day with no replacement.

Apparently Elliott is now injured as well as TK and KD, so Freddie Woodman or emergency loan is looking like the option for at least the game at Bournemouth on Saturday.

I'd say the battle is still fairly open, and will be for a while yet. But I'm not quite sure yet who it is that will fall through - merely just being confident its not going to be us.

Kevin Macdonald is a fine youth team manager but last time he was in caretaker charge we got beaten 6-0 by Newcastle before Houllier was appointed.

I remember that episode. Andy Carroll grabbing a hat-trick on his first appearance at home in the Newcastle number 9 shirt. Good times.

To think it's all been downhill for him from there.

Newcastle's appeal against Coloccini's red has been successful, with the FA saying that the referee "made an obvious error", and yet they still charged us with failing to control our players.

Weird. But still fundamentally irritating on so many levels.

I thought that was basically Adam Johnson's celebration.

I hate the expression stonewall. It makes no fucking grammatical sense. I don't know about penalty or not but plenty of those get ignored. Red was harsh, but I'm more annoyed we didn't take a chance before that, and that the long-haired cretin felt the need to do that.

And tbf, Cattermole cleared out Wijnaldum seconds before that penalty, and the referee ignored it. Had he done his job, that would've been done first. Same ignorance with that same chav taking out Colback just now. I hate these games enough without dipshit cunts like that blowing the whistle.

I think Timmy's time is up, I said last season that he wasn't the answer long term. He could make a successful career in going into troubled clubs and giving them a shot of adrenalin with his enthusiasm but he hasn't got a clue when it comes to a long term plan.

I think he needs to drop down a division and try to get a high-end Championship club up. Boost his experience and whatnot. But it does look to me as though his time is running out and the sacking question is now when, not if.

UEFA have charged Man City for their fans booing the Champions League anthem.

Bet the idiots fine them more than Dynamo Kiev get for the reports their fans assaulted black Chelsea fans during their game.

Nice goal that. With any luck we won't give a silly concession in double quicktime.

Surprised no one has thought of doing it before.

I wonder how many managers/club officials have ever made reference to a player being 'too old' as a reason for selling / not offering a new deal.

Withholding the new deal is not the primary reason. It doesn't specifically say what incidents are cited but it looks to me like the claim is to do with everything since the initial diagnosis in summer 2013. Not least given he slagged off the club's treatment of him both when he went public with his cancer, and when he returned to the first team earlier this year.

In any case, the trial will be in March, so presumably evidence will start emerging then.

Holland 2-0 down against Czech.

No Euros for them.

What a header by RVP to make it 3-0 CR.

But yeah, no Euros for Holland. The fuck happened?

I do believe. That with him in our defence, we will be lucky to keep a clean sheet at any match.

Apparently the number is 13. I recall in 2006, we had 13 out and threw in the kids, who were often better than the overpaid lummocks they replaced. Maybe it might be worth trying to repeating history... if nothing else, the U18 have managed it themselves, given they also lost 6-1 to their Man City equivalents.

Colback is injured as well.

I thought he'd come back to fitness during this break?

So that's the potential of an Mbemba-Williamson-Coloccini-Lascelles back 4 protecting Elliott... I get the feeling a League One team would find joy against that, nevermind a BPL one.

Amazing - How we're down to our 3rd choice 'keeper so often. It's seems nearly impossible.

Its the second season in a row this has happened. Let's hope whomever is thrown in is more capable than Alnwick.

Equally of concern is the fact Janmaat, Taylor, Haidara, Dummet and Mbabu are all out, leaving us with 4 centre-backs to make a defence from - 2 in terminal spirals and 2 new to the BPL. Although I'm guessing its going to be Colback at LB and Gouffran in CM... which doesn't bode well.

That leaves us with Elliott and 3/4 teenagers. Oh dear.
