Just back from seeing it now, I thought it was fantastic. Made for an enthralling watch even though most of it was people sitting around talking. A really fascinating story.

I love Sicario but I wouldn't have it for Best Picture.

I think my perspective on Spotlight may be somewhat influenced by the fact that I watched All the President's Men just a few months ago. The latter sets a standard for the investigative journalism genre that is pretty much impossible to live up to.

Seeing Spotlight tonight. Last of the Oscar nominees I've not seen yet.

I watched it yesterday. Good film, not anything amazing though.

So far none of the Best Picture nominees that I have seen have been better than Sicario.

Bet 365 asked a question on FB/Twitter yesterday asking where PSG would finish in the Premier League, and unsurprisingly there were a number of people (who are probably spoonfed their football knowledge by Sky Sports) saying around 5th or 6th. Reasons given genuinely included not being able to deal with two domestic cups and matches such as Stoke away

English clubs could never cope with playing both the Coupe de France and the Coupe de la Ligue!

Banished to the reserves for the rest of the season and fined €180k.

I guess he's played his last match for PSG.

Jesus haha, that's pretty grim. And his girlfriend's in there listening to all that

And she'll probably still stick by him, at least for his first year or two in prison.

Fucking hell, what's the age of consent in these places, 14?

Frightening to be fair

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/4/42/Age_of_consent_in_Europe.svg/500px-Age_of_consent_in_Europe.svg.png

Cyan is 14, light blue is 15.

That difference of year or two, decided arbitrarily by politicians, is clearly what separates the vicious, morally repugnant child predators from the good, unquestionable citizens.

Grooming a minor for sex isn't an offence in most of Europe?

Can't groom someone who is over the age of consent.

Not that it makes him any less of a nonce, but what he did wouldn't have been a crime in most of Europe.

Any word on what kind of sentence he'd be looking at when convicted?

BMI is a load of bollocks

If you're extremely tall, a professional athlete or very old. It's a perfectly good measurement for normal people.

Watched the first three episodes of the new X-Files. The first two were giant piles of shite, but the third was right up there with the very best comedic episodes from the original run.

Wtf do you do for work if you're burning 4,000 calories everyday?

I work here. I build and dismantle exhibition booths, furnish the conference halls etc. I expend about 3,500 to 4,000 calories just by walking around in that massive building for 8 to 12 hours a day, then there's the heavy lifting etc.

Basically, I expend that much because I work with my body.

Remember that 2,500 is the average for an adult male who sits on a chair in an office all day long, and that an adult male expends about 2,000 just by laying down in bed the entire day. IIRC soldiers in the field burn over 6,000 calories per day.

At about 4000 atm, protein shakes are helping a lot tbf. Just tough maintaining that amount whilst also training and my jobs not exactly a set routine so just making sure to always stop and make sure i have something every couple of hours.

Jesus Christ!

I suddenly understand why you're struggling to eat enough. That's roughly what I expend when I am at work, and I lose several kilograms per week even when I eat something each break.

Healthy and consuming lots of calories seldom go together.

Products aimed at athletes, bodybuilders and such are sometimes full of calories while being at least superficially healthy. I've bought a protein-fortified chocolate milk that has close to 400 calories per 0.5l bottle a couple of times, and iirc your typical protein shake has something like 200-300 calories per serving.

Comments:

A much calmer window than last year, with only two incoming players and no outgoing permanent transfers. Did a double signing of players who had failed to make a single appearance in any competition for Manchester City this season. Delph is a former England international who adds experience and gives us an alternative to Rabiot in our midfield while Roberts is one of the biggest talents in English football and will give us a left-footed alternative to Phillips on the right wing.
The only notable outgoing transaction is the loan of John Souttar to Blackburn, after only six substitute appearances in the league and one start in the FA Cup I felt loaning him out for some first-team football was the right thing for his development.
