- It was the start of this great adventure and our first game was a boring 1-0 win to the team of Bourne at home. The team was on the local bookie with 22/1 odds of going to the next level and it was pointed out that a good result would be anywhere above the 5th place, so a 1-1 draw away was not a bad result either on the second match. For the FA Cup I just rested most of the first team players that due to the age and the lack of physical training were already killed and a 3-0 defeat was not worrying as this competition was never in our cards.

- The next 3 games resulted in a win and a draw away as well as another win at home. What made me think about the team display a bit was a home defeat on the 6th round, home against St Neots. We are still trying to find our way, but opposite to the pre-season, the team is defending well but not scoring as many goals...it is still early and although Oadby seems to be winning it all, the distance to the second place is still only 2 points...

Great Season, but maybe now is time for a change since your performance in Europe does not seem to be an easy one...and it will be difficult to get top players to such a remote place

- A bit in here and a bit in there we were able to gather, not a team, but a group of players that would be able to pass the ball between each other but due to the whole amateur status of the club even the training was deemed a challenge. The fact that all had to work somehow left little time for training and even when I managed to gather half of the team, they were mostly interested in going to the pub than actually doing some training. Some even, the free transfers, hadnt played a single game in 2 years...

http://s14.postimg.org/50n3prv8x/Transfers.png

- Between so many bad players it was easy to spot the gems, starting with Harris, a central defender that had a body of a central defender and could do some good marking and tackling, he will be the one I relly on as the voice of the defence. Rowbotham, the other central defender is a big boy that I found playing with friends in an underground club. He is tough, not very good technically, but with the help of Harris and given the fact that he is only 19, a good prospect for the season. Finally I count on another experienced "player", Weston, the man who will command things in the midfield. Just a bit better technically than the rest of the squad I hope that he will be able to provide a good transition from defense to attack...

http://s14.postimg.org/7gox3mdbl/Weston.png

- The friendlies were all between teams not that far away from Northampton as the players dont want to spend money on gas and the club bus is....well, unexisting. A lot of goals and overall a very good performance during the 6 friendlies made me wonder if the team can really get into a good position in this 10th tear, but given the fact that also all other teams of the division are unknown to me, it is hard to acess our chances...lets wait, and while we wait lets drink another one...

- There are defenatly some positive things of owning a bar as the president and pub owner manage to agree with Artois a contract to serve this beer at the pub and on the contract besides some tab logos and some other merchandise, it was agreed that they would provide the club with addidas gear. We might not have players but we already have better equipments than all the teams in our division! Here are the beatufil (or not) jerseys that Northampton Spencer will wear this season!

- So after around 20 interviews on skype, I was called to england for a contract as a manager/bartender at the Northampton Spencer... I had never been to London let alone Northampton, but I was desperatly in need of money and with this I would be doing the two things I loved the most, coaching football and drinking...and I would even be able to do some money plus tips at the pub.

- I took the ryanair flight to London and a train that took forever to get to Northampton. Awaiting me was the president of the club (and also owner of the pub) and I was told that the club at the moment only had two players so I had to find others in order to get a squad that would be able to gain a respectable position in the United Counties League Division One. For this I had at my disposal a chubby guy that was a supposed "scout" and knew the kids from the area... At night in my 200 euros a month 10m2 rented appartment, I tought to myself if it wouldnt have been better to stay in Portugal and live on welfare...

http://s28.postimg.org/e2x2axhbx/mapa.png

- The next day in the morning I was resigned that this would be my place for the next months at least and I went to check the stadium. Kingsthorpe Mills is a 2000 seat stadium with worse conditions of training and youth development than some 3rd division belarussian clubs...but at least it was grass! I was also surprised by the season ticket prices...is anyone really paying 54 euros a year to see a team like ours?

http://s28.postimg.org/f7r4gb3st/clube.png

http://s28.postimg.org/40ia872f1/estadio.jpg

- I heard a shout coming out of nowhere...it was my "scout" and he had a guy next to him probably turning 40, both of them had cans of beer in their hands. He said "Hey Mister, this is the first player that I bring to you! Look, he is very experienced!"....mother of god!

Unemployed vol. 4. - "The top is so far away"

http://s28.postimg.org/6ij5wh4e5/banner.png

- So first of all let me explaine why this save is called Unemployed vol 4. Unemployed because I am starting unemployed and with the experience of a sunday league footballer, "vol 4." because there were other 3 volumes before this one in a portuguese forum (the first one took around 10 months in FM10 (11 seasons long); the second volume took me 17 months in FM12 (15 seasons) and the third volume already in FM14 was only 3 months (5 seasons). I do expect this one to be as long as the second one. To give you all an idea, I am running close to 200 leagues and I am interviewing in circa. 20 clubs without a manager, all from lower leagues...

- The story will have LLM rules, except for the fact that not all updates are official due to the fact that I want to have lower levels of existing countries and other playable countries. Down you can see the rules I will use:

Further Explanation of the LLM Guidelines

Many newbies complain that the LLM rules are too strict, when they’re actually referring to the guidelines. The guidelines are exactly that; a broad outline of what types of things are considered acceptable in an LLM game and used as a reference point for one’s own game, if needed.

The most important thing about LLM is the ethos; the way one plays the game. If a player desires to play the game as realistically as possible, using his/her own mettle alone, within the framework of the game, then the guidelines can be used to guide them in areas where the game allows more scope than real-life managers have.

It’s important to remember though, most of these guidelines shouldn’t be regarded as ‘rules’ – they are there to help you in areas where the game allows more scope than reality – YOU are the final judge of what is realistic in your game. Let your conscience be your guide.

No Cheating

Although technically a guideline, this is so integral to LLM that it can be considered an absolute hard-and-fast ‘rule’. Think of these as guidelines to this rule.

There follows a list of some of the things considered ‘cheating’ in LLM, but the maxim “If you have to ask if you’re cheating then you very probably are” is a pertinent one and should be borne in mind whenever there is confusion over what is and isn’t considered cheating

Using other people’s tactics or training schedules.
The tactics and training schedules you use should be entirely your own work. Real-life managers do not give tactical advice to each other. Further, the point of LLM is in doing things yourself and getting tactical or training advice from tactical forums (or downloading same) is considered against the spirit of LLM.
Getting advice on which players to buy from anywhere outside the gameworld.
Real-life managers use their scouts, who in turn use their network to discover players. No real-life manager has access to a higher dimensional all-knowing ‘player forum’ where every detail of every player can be revealed and passed down to them. It simply isn’t realistic, so it’s cheating, plain and simple.
Use of editors or any utility designed to display more information than that which the game provides
If a real-life manager could create themselves a wonderkid with god-like tools or give themselves a mega-rich sugar daddy and millions of pounds, I’m sure they would. But they can’t, so doing the same is also forbidden to LLM players.
Quitting the game without saving.
A real life manager cannot quit the game, without saving, after losing a match and therefore neither should we.
Using quirks of the AI, loopholes, bugs and/or strange things the game throws up to gain an unfair advantage.
You play this way because you want to play the game realistically, without cheating – presumably nobody’s forcing you at gunpoint… – so you should be able to recognise when something doesn’t look/feel right (e.g. being offered an international job when your reputation doesn’t warrant it, offering players full-time contracts on part-time wages, or making use of some kind of ‘bug’ as an infallible way of winning games or getting goals&hellip. As always, let your conscience be your guide.
Further detail on cheating (or how not to) is available here.

Scouting and the Player Search function.

Despite the oft-used justification that managers use internet searches and the like in order to find out-of-contract or transfer listed players, none of these methods provide anywhere near as much information, flexibility or are as exhaustive as the Player Search function. It is so easily open to abuse that, after enormous amounts of debate, it has been concluded that this method is too easily used to ‘cheat’ and gain unfair advantage and therefore should not be used.

Basically, scouts are your prime realistic means of highlighting players to sign for your club, so use them.

There are, however, more ways to discover players than solely from your scout’s searches:

In-game media news items (including player of the month, top scorer charts, etc.) – if a player is mentioned in the in-game media you can send a scout to have a look at them. Players are advised to use their discretion when utilising in-game charts to highlight players to scout as not all may be entirely realistic.
When playing a team, if an opposition player plays well against you, then it would be acceptable to send a scout to find out more about them.
Recommendations from your own players and staff.
Some less zealous LLaMas may use the player search screen sparingly in emergencies to find transfer listed or ‘available for loan’ players, but generally, beyond the first season especially, the search screen should not be used – let your scouts do the job they are paid for. If, in a dire emergency, you feel you must use this screen, ensure that it is filtered realistically (e.g. no attribute searches).
In all cases the player should be given the once over at least by your scouts before making an offer, unless…

If a player has been released from his contract and you are unable to scout them, it is acceptable to invite them for a trial and have your Assistant Manager or coaches look them over.

In the real footballing world, scouts are extremely important to any club and the guidelines on scouting are there in order to replicate this, including the difficulties with ‘crap’ scouts or not having any at all. A personal LLM take on scouting is discussed in more detail under the “Detail: Scouting” page.

3rd party updates

While the makers of these updates may intend to make them as accurate as possible, there is no way to ensure that this is the case. Therefore, in order to ensure that the integrity of our games is maintained only official SI updates and patches are considered acceptable (with or without transfers).

Staff Search limitations

The job centre should provide a reasonably realistic list of candidates, so staff should be recruited using this method. However, this being only a game, should you not find any suitable candidates within a reasonable time-frame, then it is considered acceptable to resort to the staff search screen when all else fails.

Feeder Clubs in the UK and Germany

SI are using the terms Feeder/Parent club to apply to a range of ‘affiliations’ which could cause some confusion. Applied literally, it is expressly against German and English FA regulations for clubs to have official feeder/parent relationships with other German or UK teams respectively. Apparently, SI have taken this into consideration to an extent (i.e. first options won’t be available), but to some LLaMas it’s a very contentious issue, to the extent that many cancel these links as soon as possible. In any case, care should be taken that the use of any affiliation is kept within realistic limits (e.g. no overuse of loanees). If you need clarification on any issues related to this feature, please don’t hesitate to ask in the forum.
