I don't really watch wrestling. But saw a couple of Raw's recently and had a look online at hat's happening. Two guys have facial hair based gimmicks ffs.

And I hate Daniel Bryan, I don't care how good a wrestler he is, his character is annoying and reminds me of Jim Duggan.

Also it looks stupid, how every wrestler while walking to the ring or doing a promo has their merchandise t-shirt over their wrestling clothes.

Even with Sanogo and Flamini as our only signings as of now, our squad is still far better than yours. It'll be even stronger if we buy one or two quality players on top of that.

No, it isn't.

PSG apparently pull out of Cabaye negotiations.

Gut feeling right now, is Cabaye to stay and Newcastle to not sign anybody. Maybe one signing - Gomis if most of the work is already done.

They weren't being bought as replacements. We've made a profit so far this window on transfers, and cut down on our wage bill, the money is there to spend.

I'm not sure the £1m or so profit this window, will quite offset the £80m or so of losses in the past couple of years

Do the NUFC related media actually believe all the shite they talk about? Or are they going on some Fox News style complain and lie as much as possible to get hits, followers and readers?

Two articles published in the past two days, have complained about Man City outspending Newcastle ffs.

Suarez bid 'insulting' and the club activity 'embarrassing' is ridiculous. You thought Suarez had a clause in his contract that let him leave when a bid of £40m was made, why should you pay a penny more than that if that had been the case? I mean, I guess it's a bit embarrassing that you went after as despicable a cunt as Suarez, but that's not what you meant so I assume you don't really care about that.

It's disappointing, from your point of view, to so obviously need players and not get them but people have been spouting that embarrassing line about United all summer no matter what we do and it's ridiculous in both scenarios. Sometimes you just have to trust that things will turn out alright in the end and support your club, there's no point twisting the knife in when everyone else is waiting to do that for you anyway.

I blame Twitter, it's constant deluge of shite makes people think that things are happening when they aren't.

They're paying several pennies more than necessary.

Suarez bid was not 'insulting', it was smart. And the Cabaye bid was made on Sunday, Pardew just mentioned it on Monday to deflect from the fact that he was gonna get hammered by City anyway

That sounds like bullshit.

Aye considering we got beat 4-0 by City in March with Cabaye in the side, its not exactly justified using it as an excuse this time round.

By that logic Newcastle have improved by the same magnitude as Man City. We've improved by £70m from last season.

Someone mentioned a week or 2 ago that it was no surprise that City and Spurs (and Chelsea to an extent) have done the best this transfer window (getting deals done early etc.) as they are the clubs with a proper structure and a proper Director of Football

I think intent is the more important factor.

Man City want the title back and have appointed a new manager and are willing to go and buy his targets. And Spurs are probably desperate to avoid a repeat of the last couple of years so are really going big this summer.

City and Spurs had DOF's last season and both had poor summers.

Yes, I know what the Bechdel test is.

Do two male characters even interact in Girls, aside from the episode where Ray and Adam go to Staten Island? The only other conversations I can remember is Ray and Charlie, but Shoshanna was normally there.

I mean it's called Girls and the main character is incredibly self-obsessed, it couldn't have been that surprising.

Yes people have said it. But people will criticise an unpopular manager for anything.

In Pardew's defense this is very, very unfortunate if true, as losing an influential player on the day of the game is going to disrupt any manager's plans unles they have an excellent backup on the bench ready and waiting.

If a popular manager plays players out of position then it's a masterstroke he's sacrificing individuals for the team. No one criticised Pardew two years ago when he moved Ba to the wing and Jonas to CM.

Man City will probably win tonight, regardless of Pardew does, they're a lot better than Newcastle.

He got through 45 against Braga perfectly fine and hadn't been a doubt. A lot of fans think Arsenal's antics have been a contributor, which wouldn't be a surprise.

No doubt Pardew's already got it ready as his excuse for a post-mauling interview, rather than playing everyone in the wrong position. Again.

FURTHER EDIT: Cabaye apparently is not even at the stadium.

Fucking hell. You're moaning about a guy making excuses before, he's made them. And already complaining about people playing out of position before they've even kicked off.

Compete for what? Top 4 or title?

I've heard Grenier turned down Arsenal, and Kondogbia is third party owned, so there might not be enough time for that deal. Romain Amilifitano may be available though.

Although Arda Turan's agent has just said he expects an English club will meet his release clause.

I thought Kondogbia was already meant to be practically signed for Monaco?

Regarding Gourcuff, I saw a Ligue 1 journalist talking about the Gourcuff/Gervinho swap saying that both sides would view it as a good deal. As both had good reputations but had been poor for ages. Although Gourcuff has apparently had a good start to the season.

Rubbish!

We had Gouffran on the bench when Sissoko was stuck on the wing.

I don't get what you're trying to contradict? Gouffran isn't rated by Pardew as a key player. So he'll be sacrificed, to try and get Tiote, Sissoko and Cabaye into the same team.

That's probably the thing that annoys me the most about Pardew, his mismanagement of the fringe players. Gouffran will always be first sub off regardless of performance level.

That's where Cabaye plays. Cisse and Sissoko on the sings were logical solutions to selection problems.

No doubt it Newcastle were losing with Cisse/Ba and Sissoko on the bench , people would complain about Pardew droppin the better players.

club statute has a lot more to it than where you finished the previous season. Fanbase, ability to make money, history, the playing squad, facilities, stadium all play into the notion of club size. And suggesting Liverpool are on the same plateau as West Brom, Norwich and Swansea isn't harsh, it is just wrong.

When Newcastle were in the Championship they were definitely a bigger club than the likes of Burnley, Hull, Portsmouth and Wigan despite those all being in a higher league. Same with Wolves and Yeovil this year. And Juventus will have been one of the biggest cubs in Italy when they were in Serie B.

If say Manchester United struggled without Ferguson and finished 6th two years running, they would still almost certainly be the biggest club in England.

Christ.

Loads of Newcastle fans seem to be very bitter about missing out on a transfer target they didn't even want. One bad season and football fans turn into petulant children demanding the club spends as much money as it can on anybody, ignoring value for money, and willing to pay over the odds just for the 'boost' of having someone to parade around the club website. We need to show our ambition and sign Darren Bent on £70kpw then not play him as he's not good enough.

Same bunch of fans who will complain that transfer deadline days are boring, because Newcastle aren't desperately panic buying.

Unconvinced by so many of the current England side. Welbeck was about the only one I'm happy with. Cleverly had his moments as well.

Sturridge should definitely be given his chance as first choice striker. And I'd like to see Lennon brought back into the side.

Rodgers' Swansea had like 80% possession against Newcastle and lost 2-0 yet they were widely praised over their performance for playing football the 'right way'. The right way to play football is to win

Newcastle were worthy winners as well. All Swansea could do is work the ball wide and back again. Newcastle actually created a couple of chances.

By Poe | Permalink | On 14 August 2013 - 17:11 PM
Not really, we never hoofed to Carroll and hoped it worked - a lot of his goals for us were scored with his feet (contrary to popular belief)

Newcastle would have been relegated if this was the case. Barton is so slow he would be so easy to stop and with Jonas on the other side, we wouldn't have ever got the ball to Carroll.

Direct football can be entertaining, the 4-4 with Arsenal or when we beat Manchester United 3-0 are probably two of the most entertaining matches I've ever seen and iirc we were extremely direct in both of those games.

It will work as well as its always done.

Playing shite football to a big target man has always been just about good enough to keep you in the league. But sooner or later you're left with the dilemma Stoke are in. Adapt or stagnate, that's when the real challenge comes.

Totally oversimplifying a method of playing football.
