Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick believes new Manchester United manager David Moyes has the right attributes and the necessary managerial experience to succeed for years to come at Old Trafford.

Michael Carrick has backed new Manchester United manager David Moyes to succeed as the long term replacement following Sir Alex Ferguson's replacement. The 31 year old believes Moyes has the right attributes to be successful at Old Trafford and thinks the time the new United boss spent at Everton gives him the necessary experience needed to succeed.

"There is no doubt in my mind that the new manager can succeed at the club. He's the right man for the job and so far he's impressed every player at the club in training since taking over from Sir Alex. He knows what he's doing, he's confident and he knows what he wants in every session, that instills confidence in the players," says Carrick.

"At the highest level the little things make a huge difference and the new manager prepares for everything. Nothing is left to chance and that is fantastic for the players, we all know what's expected and what our jobs are," added the midfielder.

Carrick has been at Old Trafford for six years after Manchester United paid Tottenham Hotspur £14 million in 2006.

The 31 year old has made 180 Barclays Premier League appearances for United scoring 14 times and has become an integral part of the squad winning four Barclays Premier League titles in that time along with the 2008 UEFA Champions League.

Carrick has been capped 22 times by England and is yet to score for the Three Lions.

The midfielder has featured in all three of United's pre-season games under new Manchester United manager David Moyes and is expected to start against Benfica tomorrow afternoon at Old Trafford. The Red Devils kick off the new Barclays Premier League season against bitter rivals and current champions Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium in 15 days.

Manchester United recorded a 2-1 win over Ross County this evening in their latest pre-season fixture as second half goals from Ashley Young and Javier Hernández saw off the Scottish sides valiant challenge.

Another pre-season game and another win for Barclays Premier League giants Manchester United.

Second half strikes from Ashley Young and Javier Hernández ensured that the Red Devils finished their tour of Scotland on a winning note as they comfortably beat Ross County 2-1 at the Global Energy Stadium in Dingwall.

United boss David Moyes would have been pleased with his sides commanding performance, although he'll be hoping they begin to show a more clinical edge in front of goal as they move close to their opening day Barclays Premier League fixture against arch rivals and current champions Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.

The new United boss has just two pre-season games remaining to prepare his side for that opening day clash with City at the Etihad Stadium, the first against Portuguese side Benfica in just three days at Old Trafford. The Red Devils then finish their pre-season preparations a week later with a trip to Belgium to face Royal Antwerp.

Premier League title our priority says Nemanja Vidić

Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidić says the Barclays Premier League title is the clubs priority this season after they suffered the heartbreak of losing their title on the final day of last season.

The United skipper admits that the club will be focussing on regaining the Barclays Premier League title this season after they dramatically failed to retain their title last season on the final day of the campaign as injury time goals from Edin Džeko and Sergio Agüero against Queens Park Rangers at the Etihad Stadium handed Manchester City the title on goal difference.

"The title this season is our main priority, that's the trophy we want and need to win the most, especially after what happened last season when we let our lead slip and paid for that on the final day of the season," said the defender.

"We still want to win every competition we enter, but the main trophy is the Premier League," added Vidić.

United coincidentally kick off the new Barclays Premier League season against City at the Etihad Stadium and Vidić believes a good start under new manager David Moyes could give them the momentum they need to go on and win the title.

"The first game of the season against Manchester City will be a good test and I think very tough. We hope to start well and it's important we get a good result in these big games. The momentum from a good start could help us in winning the league also and a good start with the new manager will make everyone confident that we can win the league," said Vidić.

Vidic, 30, has made 167 Barclays Premier League appearances scoring 14 times for the Red Devils since joining the club in 2006. The former Serbian international cost the club £7 million when he left Spartak Moscow, that fee proving a bargain as the no nonsense defender struck up a fantastic partnership with Rio Ferdinand at the heart of the United defence.

A stretched posterior cruciate ligament for Chamberlain. Much better than a rupture and having surgery, considering it's nonsense to suggest he'd be back inside six months, more like a total rehab of about nine to get back properly.
