#289343 So, challenge mode
Phoenix Arrow
Ok, so Nuremberg. The team is known as "Der Team" according to the information screen so they will be known as that forthwith. In the 1920s, they were (probably) the best team in Germany, winning 5 titles from 1920 to 1927. But to give that context, at the same time in England, Huddersfield were the team to beat. Times change and recently they've been little more than makeweights. If we say modern football started in 1990, their best position has been 6th and their worst has been one season in the regional leagues. Most of their time has been in the top flight though. The qualified for the UEFA Cup 5 years ago, where they got knocked out in the first knockout round. They've got a pretty hefty stadium, perhaps most famous for hosting Nazi sports events. To be honest, I could've picked a team from a town that's less associated with the Nazis, but there's a joke I wanted to make. We'll get to that.
So, what's the first challenge? I will be attempting the one what is about winning stuff with young players. How does this work? The game gives you 5 (presumably) randomly generated players. These players have to be amoung your 11 most played players. They've basically got to start in over half of your games. I'm sure there are sneaky way to do this, but I'm doing it by the book. If they're fit, they're starting. I'm also setting myself a rule of not buying anyone over the age of 21. Here are "Der Lads".
Tidy players, but what's the end goal? To win a trophy. I assume it can be either the Bunderliga or the Pokal or whatever it's called since we aren't in Europe. They haven't won the league for over 40 years and are predicted 13th so that might be a challenge. But that's 13th without the bonus players so we'll see.
SO THEN. WILL NUREMBERG RALLY? AH HAHAHAHA.

Oh god. I think this is my favourite so far. That photoshop. It's also a good summary of why I don't like saying I'm pansexual.

But Football Manager wants to make challenges, so I'll do those for a bit. The plan is to do all 4 of them. Each time I start a new challenge, I'll do it in a different country with a different team. Should I fail a mission, I will move onto another and will redo said mission at the end so I'm not just stuck doing the same thing over and over again. I'll also use a new team. Probably. I might go all unfinished business on it though.

Yeah. I loaded it up today, started a game, thought "hey, this looks cool... but I can't be bothered I'll go play something else."

I know I'm being unfair, for what it is, it's a good game. But what it is is a game one guy made in Unity. It's basically a university project and I've played enough games industry university projects to last me a life time.
I will give you the sound though. That was well done.

#9566 Football Manager 2013, Steam and You
Phoenix Arrow
First of all, we all know how Steam works at this point, right? Rather than buy a game as such, you buy the ability to download a game. The game shows up in your library tab and you can install and uninstall it at will.
I got this from somewhere which isn't Steam, what do?
Because SI don't want you to pirate the game, you have to play the game through Steam. So, if you buy the game from an external site, what they'll do is send you a game code (exactly like the ones you get in boxed PC games). This code will let you attach a copy of the game to one Steam account.
To do this, go to you main Steam page, and click where it says "Add a game" at the bottom left. Click activate a product on Steam and then click next and I agree. Now, paste in your game code and keep clicking next until it gets bored. Now, the game should be linked to your Steam account and you can begin downloading. You can install, uninstall and reinstall this game just as you would a normal Steam game.
What happens on release day?
I can't say for 100% what will happen. What I can tell you is the last 3 games I preordered from Steam allowed you to pre-install the game a day before release. I don't think all companies all Valve to do this, but I'd be suprised if SI didn't. If you can do this, you will be able to play the game at midnight. The first time you go to play it, it will have to unlock the game which won't take a minute or two. If not, you'll have to download the game at midnight. But I fairly sure you'll be allowed to preload it.
What happens when it comes to official updates?
The only way to download these updates is through Steam. This should happen automatically any time you're connected to Steam in online mode if you have updates enabled. To check this, right click the game, go to properties, go to the updates tab and there will be a drop down box with two options. One saying allow updates and the other saying not. Updates are enabled by default.
How do I download the editor?
Navigate to your library tab. Underneath where it says library, it should say something (all games usually) with an arrow next to it. Click the arrow and click on tools. Here you should find a tool called Football Manager 2013 editor. You can install and launch it from there. This will only show up once the game is released, but that is where it will be. Probably.
Do I need to be connected to the internet to play this game?
No, you only need to be connected to the internet to install, activate and update the game. To play in offline mode, click Steam on the top left and select go offline. You will also get the option to start in offline mode if you load up Steam when you have no internet connection but sometime that doesn't work properly so I recommend doing it the way I described if you know you're going to be without internet.
This is what happens when I'm bored. Ask any questions and I'll try to answer them. Or someone else will.
#9541 This is not a photoshop
Phoenix Arrow
Yeah. I have a full time job and like a life and shit so the time I have to play FM is fairly minimal. FM Classic makes sense for me to play it for that reason. I have no intention of buying any of those perks and I think splitting the careers section will just make people look down on FMC users.
