#735571 CONCACAF Expanded Universe - US 10 Tiers, Canada 4 Tiers, and Continental Competitions
Chris Nielson
Yep! For your purposes you'll want to use the basic database - there is a bug in the game that causes lower level saves to crash to desktop on August 23rd of the first season. There are a lot more features in the advanced db, including the immersive deadline day experience and ffp rules, but I started a save with the basic one and it was a fine experience.

I just updated to 23.4 for all of the files in the database. It's also live on steam if you are subscribed over there. Thanks everyone for your patience!

Yes! I needed to take a little bit of a break after getting it out for 23.3, but I'm planning to hop back in and start upgrading. I'm hoping to have it done by the ebnd of the weekend - I'll post here when it's done.
Also, Airi - my guess is that one of the hardcoded MLS teams is causing the break in the file. I'll have to dig in and figure out what the problem is. Thanks all!

Based on the test I just ran and Airi's tests, I think everything at and below Peacock League one (the third tier) CTDs on August 22nd.

Hi Trey! Also thank you for your work. I'm attaching two options for you - an advanced and basic one. They have the same cash values, and this way you can look at it either in the higher or lower levels. Thanks again for taking a look!

Hi Airi! Thanks for beta testing this file for me. It looks like the August 22nd date isn't connected to anything in the game - there was a cup draw on that date, but I moved it and it still crashed to desktop. We had a similar issue in FM 22, (https://community.sigames.com/bugtracker/previous-versions/football-manager-2022-bugs-forum/pre-game-and-in-game-editor/10-tier-database-ctds-in-january-of-first-year-r6026/?tab=comments#comment-40720), so I'm afraid it's probably a bug in the game. I'd suggest using the basic database then if you want to do a lower level club.

I did make the packs. It's good to know about St. Louis City (I had to remake it for this edition because of a change in the database) and the league logos. If you let me know the other ones I'll make the changes and re-upload it. Thanks Airi!

Hi Trey - the league rewards were an attempt to combine US TV rights with the prize structure of the Premier League, and it was an intentional part of the design. However, it seems like this is presenting an issue for some, so if you want to test the file in this post out and let me know what you think I'd appreciate it (I cut the D1 prize money by 70% and the D2 prize money by 30%.)

As a Zealand fan, I feel obliged to sing the LOANS song to you (look for loans to fill out your team (essentially a short term contract where the player returns to their original team at the end of it.) You get up to six, so choose wisely.) If you want more FM tips, I found his youtube channel helpful.

I'm glad you got it figured out. For others who are curious, my guess is that the Canada and US databases weren't active. Since it replaces and expands the leagues in both, you need to make sure they are both checked to have them in game - otherwise you get the error message Airi did (ie- you can't use the Concacaf champions league structure by itself and expect the US and Canada to be playable.) Hopefully this is helpful for other users, and thanks for asking for help Airi!!

Hi everyone! The full CONCACAF EUD is live. I ran two tests with the files for stability - there were no crashes, one went 20 years and the other 45, so I feel pretty good about the state of the set. Additionally, the kits and logos should be updated for 22.3. If you run across issues with the editor files or kits and logos please let me know and I'll work to address them (I have notifications on for this thread now.)
Also, as a heads up, there is one change I still want to make to the club competitions (I want to have losing teams in the group stages qualify for lower competitions), but that is proving more difficult than I thought, so I wanted to share what I have and think represents the whole imaginary world. Thanks all!

Quick update for those following the thread - I found a workaround for the continental competitions, and will hopefully have a first draft of the broader Concacaf EUD and the advanced rules for the US and Canada done by the weekend for people to start playing around with.

Hi Tarajos! MLS is notoriously hard to modify in the editor - there is a lot that is hardcoded in it, and that makes it challenging to make changes. You're probably better off renaming one of the existing clubs if you want to do that.
#730901 CONCACAF Expanded Universe - US 10 Tiers, Canada 4 Tiers, and Continental Competitions
Chris Nielson
A quick note - I mentioned this at the top, but right now CONCACAF continental competitions aren't showing up in game when they are modded. Because of this I'm going to hold off on releasing the continental competitions and the non-active concacaf nations for now. I'll probably do a version of the US and Canada databases in advanced mode eventually, but may go a bit slower now. Thanks to all of you who are playing this mod - I hope it brings you a small bit of joy!

Yep - thanks for noticing Ongston! I think I know what they are - I created a Vancouver FC prior to the actual expansion team that is now in game, and still used Edmonton FC (which went extinct), so there are a couple of issues. I'm working on an update since 23.3 fixed a number of the bugs that were present before, but it may take a couple of weeks because I'm able to do the advanced rule changes that weren't possible before.

I'm waiting until the rules error is fixed before I start working on other countries in CONCACAF. I tried doing a few and it crashed out of the game, so it isn't available yet.

It depends on when the editor gets fixed. Once the bug has been resolved I'll get to work on it. My hope is that it'll be done 1-2 weeks after we can edit us databases.

CONCACAF CLUB COMPETITIONS
The other fun part of this mod (for me at least) is imagining what it would look like if CONCACAF had a developed continental competition. The Competition file has five competitions:
The top 3 competitions are 32 team, 8 group competitions in the fall with a four round knockout tournament in the spring. The money for the competition is about 75% of UEFA's, so particularly for teams in smaller countries entry can be make or break. Like the US and Canadian Files there are advanced and basic versions - the advanced versions have more complicated roster registration rules and participation money.
(5/31) I created a new format for the CONCACAF competitions that expands the number of teams involved, added drop downs between competitions, and created a coefficient. It is below as the CONCACAF advanced file with dropdowns.
ADDITIONAL CONCACAF NATIONS
I think it's kind of fun (and rounds out the world a bit) to have some more CONCACAF countries playable as a part of the tournament. I gave the Mexican competition a lot of TV money (to hopefully help it compete with the US teams a bit more than previous iterations) and activated the top 20 nations in CONCACAF (who all participate in all three competitions.) The competitions are all made in basic mode, so they reflect some of the roster rules and realities of the respective competitions (transfer deadlines, dates of the competition (based on wikipedia), restrictions on the number of foreign players, playoff structure and relegations, etc.) The one big exception is that a lot of the Central American competitions have an opening/closing (apertura/clausura) structure - for those competitions I included a midwinter break to imitate the structure. I also activated (or created) several lower level divisions to create more opportunities for promotion and relegation.
The 16 countries are

Thanks for playing Diamundium! I really appreciate it. I do have an updated version of the Canadian logo and kit pack - you can find it here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1iRuL2bHWJo4sqZOwI-MfW_zYAYEZaQ3S/view?usp=sharing. It's for FM 23, but I think it should mostly work with 22.

Chris Nielson
In anticipation of FM 23, I rebuilt the database from scratch (I learned a lot along the way that I wanted to incorporate into a new version.) You can find it here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1OmS-37BFEvuIbX6QumFwtjRFkfczfS6t?usp=sharing. The top four levels of the US database still reflect the original clubs from Raysox game, but I kept the USL clubs and used the current leagues (USL, NISA, UPSL, and NPSL) for the lower levels. I took out the midseason break in January, so all the teams play straight through from August-May now. I also created regional reserves and U19 divisions, along with cups for the respective tournaments, and added FFP rules for USL and above (because US sports have to turn a massive profit for their owners.)
For the Canadian database I added two more levels and a U21 competition for the upper two levels based, again, on geography. There are also some FFP rules in place now.
For the CONCACAF mod, the top two teams from the CONCACAF Champions League do qualify for the Club World Championship. I couldn't figure out how to make automatic qualifiers work for future years for winners of the other competitions, so I decided to ignore that. I also boosted the Mexican League's TV and positions money (to hopefully balance out the US a bit) and added a few lower leagues for the other CONCACAF nations that I don't think exist, but it added some more teams and competitions.
I'm mostly putting this out now because I am planning to roll it forward for FM 23, and want to see if there are any noticeable, game breaking bugs I'm missing. If you're at the end of FM 22 and are looking for a new(er) challenge, I would love to have you take a look at this for me. Thanks all!

So, this is a weird issue with the database sometimes. Try unselecting one of the other nations and see if the US is playable then. If it isn't send me a dm and we can troubleshoot from there.

Hi Trey - yes, it is a pretty fixture heavy mod, especially in the early going. It was particularly bad in the older versions of this file because of the limits of a basic database, but it should be a little better in the latest version. Squad depth is key though.

This was a quick fix for me in the editor, so I just did it and uploaded a new file. The short version is because the Islanders' competition nation is set to the US, it didn't allow the team to scout Puerto Rico freely. I tweaked it so that there's a relationship between PR and the US, so the team should be able to scout Puerto Rico.
This is a bit more work. I'll get at it over the next couple of days and let you know when it's re-uploaded.

Good news! It appears that the youth intake and crash to desktop bugs are fixed in the latest version of the game. I'm going to take the next couple of days to switch the US database back to advanced mode and make the appropriate changes, and repost sometime next week. If you're interested in doing a beta test for me feel free to PM and I'll send you the files when they're ready.

Hi Ins,
It may. I posted a couple of bug repots on the forum (the crash to desktop and youth intake issues) and those bugs weren't fixed in v 22.3. I'm waiting to see if I would need to do a complete rebuild to make them work, or if I can do a simpler adjustment. I'll post here when I know. Hope that helps Ins14!

Hey Iguto - I'm sorry for the slow reply. First, a lot of the CPL teams will not have reserve teams on because that's the way the league operates right now. I looked in the editor file and Montreal does have a reserve team listed with “not used” checked. I think you should be able to go to club vision → Networking → and there should be an option to ask for a reserve team. If it isn't there I don't think it's available to Montreal.

Oh! I didn't make any adjustments to the Canadian database in terms of U19s and Reserves, so whatever the teams had in the vanilla game should be present in the Canadian database. Did you try asking the board for a U19 team or a reserves team? (Also, the CPL doesn't really have reserve and U19 teams, so you may have to schedule a lot of friendlies for your teams.)
