Not really a transfer ban and more a ban of being able to register any new players. They can still freely buy players as normal.

A piss weak punish to be fair, they should have been banned completely from being able to sign anybody, period.

They should but it's kind of tricky to enforce that sort of thing properly. It's way easier to enforce a ban on player registration than on transfer negotiations.

Is Bacca really that good?

He scored 28 in all competitions for Sevilla last year and he's got 7 in 20 for Colombia. He's probably not a world beater but he's pretty good.

You would have said the same about Dortmund in 2010 or Atletico in 2012.

Things can change quickly in football, especially given how weak the competition behind Juventus is right now.

There's no comparison with Atleti at all. In 2012 they had won two Europa's in three years. Milan aren't even close to being as good, they could qualify sure, but there's no way they are going to improve quickly enough to challenge. Things can change quickly but they rarely, if ever, change that quickly. You seem to be suggesting that there's a reasonable chance of Milan jumping from 10th in Serie A to Champions League contenders in 3/4 years - at a time when the group of teams challenging for the CL is probably the most predictable it's been in years. You're kidding yourself.

Duncan Castles has become a parody of himself and it's not even funny anymore.

I always enjoy his attempts at hyping up Mendes clients on Twitter whenever they do anything vaguely noticeable. He's so biased to Mendes/Mourinho/Ronaldo it's almost laughable.

Argentina absolutely bottled it. Martino's substitutions were awful and they got worse as the second-half went on.

If the transfer speculation was anything to go by, his options were Milan, Inter, Roma and Liverpool. Milan is as good an option as any of those.

And I think Milan could be a CL contender within 3 seasons with some investment and the right man on the bench.

Yeah, the other options aren't great.

There's no way in hell they will be a 'contender' for the CL within 3 seasons.

There's a much greater potential for long-term success at Milan than there is at Sevilla. Milan is a club that has potential to win the CL, Sevilla will never even win the league.

Bacca turns 29 in two months, so this was probably his last opportunity to sign for a big club. Milan makes as much sense as the other clubs he was liked with.

It's not a team that has the potential to win the CL though, certainly not within the time he'll be there given that he is, as you say, almost 29. He's not exactly a long-term signing and as it's probably his last big contract, it's a slightly odd choice unless he's being given a bid wedge of cash (in which case it's entirely understandable).

Milan have a new co-owner who has been investing money.

And Milan are a much bigger club than Sevilla, CL or not.

And? Since when is that the deciding factor in what club a player joins? They tend to be more interested in wages and the potential for success.

It does makes sense if they're actually spending money, I've got so used to Silvio being stingy I hadn't really considered that as a possibility.

Yeah he's going to be getting shitloads too with their new co-owner. Him & Luiz Adriano are good signings for Milan, they're probably going to be getting CL football whilst Bacca is there regardless if they carry on spending.

Going from 10th to 2nd/3rd would be pretty impressive tbh. It'll be interesting to see who else they bring in, maybe they'll finally get rid of Philippe Mexès and bring in an actual good centre-back.

Milan is still an absolutely massive club even though they're wank

He's moving to an average team in an inferior league and giving up Champions League football in the process. I realise they're still a big club but that still strikes me as odd. I hope he's being paid a lot because that would explain it but Milan haven't exactly splashed out the cash over the last few years.

I'm pretty surprised nobody else has tried to sign him either.

Apparently Richard Dunne and Sven-Göran Eriksson makes anyone look good at CB.

The great centre-backs always do.

Weirdly every shite club sees Micah Richards as a messiah at CB. Because he had a good 3 months at RB 4 years ago.....

Yeah, he's just not a centre-back. He had a decent spell there about 8 years ago. He's struggled basically every time he's placed there since.

Poor Oldham. For a while it looked like they would strike a jackpot thanks to him.

They really missed out there. Fairly certain they rejected a buy-out offer from City for their percentage too.

Apparently we have signed Micah Richards. Decent signing if true, though the club has yet to confirm it.

Really hope it works out for him, I'm not convinced based on the last few seasons though. Apparently Sherwood might be using him as a CB?

Nearly all players go through good and bad form, it's a non starter as an argument as he's usually very consistent.

Absolutely, but not all 29 year-old players sign 4 year contracts on £100k+ p/w. In that context I'd say it's a very valid argument.

Milner is horrendously underrated, he's a really really good player. There's very few amount of people that put as much graft in as him - and virtually none as good as him on the ball when they get it. Great signing for Liverpool.

He was horrendously underrated, now he's coming close to being overrated. He can't be faulted for his work-ethic, that's virtually always good, but his end product can vary pretty wildly. He has spells of very good form and then spells of poor form that tend to be masked by the aforementioned work-rate.

Milner cost like £8m and is getting 150k a week, not exactly fantastic business

The problem with the Milner signing is less about the money and more the length of the deal. A four-year contract for a 29 year-old is a bit excessive, it was the main reason I wasn't fussed about him leaving. He'll probably be fine for another two years but after that? I wouldn't fancy keeping him on at 32-33.

Milner should be a good signing. Can always rely on him to do a good job and he seemed to be playing really well for City when he started getting more game time.

He was really good for the first half of the season and pretty average for the second half of the season. It'll be interesting to see how Liverpool use him though, because he's fucking gash as a central midfielder.

I'd prefer Laudrup or Garde tbh.

But Vieira is more exciting than McClaren - who was awful at Forest, average at Derby, awful at Wolfsburg, awful at Twente when he went back and awful at England.

Fair enough. That I can understand.

Aye. He's failed at his last 5 jobs.

I'm not particularly advocating for McClaren, I was asking because I'm not convinced Vieira is ready to manage a Premier League team yet. He's done alright at City but while the EDS have been pretty good, they've made a habit of letting leads slip and he seems incapable of properly organising a defence.

A consensus is emerging that McClaren will be appointed NUFC manager this week.

Great. More bad news.

You'd prefer Vieira?

Yeah, he'd easily get into this current City team, and even with the raft of new signings this summer he'd still probably get a regular game.

Aguero does it again, putting in a top performance against weak opposition so he can fade out again when it matters. Saying that, he is City's only striker that actually suits the way they play. Whilst Dzeko and Bony are decent, they don't suit City's style at all imo. Maybe they will next season under another new manager.

Fuck off

I don't think I've seen a player as criminally mis-managed as Di Maria in a long, long time.

I think Rodgers has come close with a few players this season (although admittedly with players who aren't quite as talented as Di María).

SportsDirect is growing though, Skepta and the UK grime scene are popularising it massively; as is the garage scene with DJ EZ.

Absolutely and this is a massive concern due to the huge influence of the grime scene.
