Benitez is being linked. He'll be leaving Napoli at the end of the season too. Lel.

Wouldn't be the worst choice in the world but he's not exactly top notch. Could live with him in the short-term, mind.

Ancelotti might be available in the summer.

Seems like the only manager of that ilk who might actually be available.

Aye, they'll go for Ancelotti I think. And sack him after winning the title but narrowly missing out the season after or something.

Horrible football club.

Yeah, okay.

Bye bye Pellegrini. Hate to imagine who they'll get to replace him though, you just know it'll be someone top notch.

There's not really a lot of options that fit that description to be honest.

Considering Florentino Perez is the man in charge, that's an entirely plausible guess.

How do you know he actually slept with her?

Ched Evans allover again, no proof released, but instantly, he's guilty.....

Except Ched Evans was found guilty in court...

We don't need to be "good enough" we just need to start actually giving a shit and grinding results out if possible

That's kind of my point. We aren't going to do that, we aren't good enough at the moment.

Title race is hardly over. If I know Chelsea right, they'll fuck it up against West Ham.

Nah. We're not good enough to catch up to them.

Coutinho was great today.

Allen had probably his best game in a Liverpool shirt.

Can't believe how tactically clueless Pellegrini seems at times. Can't see him in that job next season.

All Bony did when he came on was elbow/forearm smash Lallana and foul Toure.

I think he's done. I just don't see how he can come back from this. For a start he has very little to fall back on now it's going badly.

Actually amazed that Kompany might get through this whole game without picking up a booking

I was shocked he didn't get sent off. He quietened down a bit but he was a liability for the first hour.

If you go out of the CL next week do you think Pellegrini might be job hunting in the summer?

Quite possibly. It's certainly something they should be considering anyway, he's had an absolutely horrific season in basically every respect. The big question, and it's one that can't really be answered, is just how convinced Txiki/Soriano are by him. They seem fairly patient and determined about following a set style (and the Sheikh and Khaldoon definitely are) but to me, Pellegrini doesn't seem to following that style all that closely. He plays a lot of lip-service to the idea of playing positive, attacking football but I'm not convinced how much we've lived up to it. His team is the only one in the entire City set-up that doesn't play a Barça-style 4-3-3, the kids do it, the women's team too and I believe NYCFC do too. He seems absolutely set on trying to succeed with his 4-4-2. It's bizarre both as a personal preference and in relation to the club's wider plan.

All that said, if Pep decides not to stay at Bayern then Pellegrini will be out on his ear.

Barcelona had stopped and that's why City looked better in the second half. Tie is over now for me and can't see them scoring at least twice in Spain.

Unfortunately, I think you're probably right on both counts.

We don't play with intensity though. That's one of our things, it's something we save for special occasions in small bursts.

Awful but utterly predictable first-half.

So Dzeko is playing because Barca are 'weak' in the air. Surely Navas should be playing then? Its not like Nasri is going to sprint down the wing and whip crosses in.

That's a terrible reason to be playing him too. He's tall but he's not even that good in the air.

The City team for tonight: Hart; Zabaleta, Kompany (C), Demichelis, Clichy; Fernando, Milner; Nasri, Silva; Dzeko, Aguero.

Subs: Caballero, Sagna, Mangala, Fernandinho, Lampard, Navas, Bony.

We're going to get pumped.

Aguero's had a header ruled out for handball (slightly harshly) and been booked for it (very harshly).

We've been shit other than him, though.

I'm not sure its just a Man City problem. It seems like the majority of Premier League teams at the moment don't know how to take a corner, and the majority of all corners taken seem to find the first defender.

Whilst that's true City are worse than most at the moment. We've scored one goal from a corner all season I think (and that was in September).

The worst part about City's form atm is the fucking corners. Everyone single one is diabolical and frustrates the crowd

I'm not sure that's even the worst part any more. There's so many things being done horrifically.

What on earth has happened to your home form? Thinking of today, the Boro, Burnley, Stoke etc games....

It's not just the home form to be honest. We've been below par more or less all season but have scraped wins and now the moments of inspiration are drying up we're finally suffering the consequences. We've had the same problems crop up consistently since Pellegrini arrived, they haven't been addressed and now this is the result. He's not the only one responsible but Pellegrini has had a shocking season and it's difficult to honestly say he's improved the team, most of the summer signings actually seem to be getting worse with every game which suggests to me that he's not having a positive effect.

I posted this slightly longer rant a couple of weeks ago:

Awful result today but I think a result like that has been overdue, we've had narrow escapes in basically every match since Boxing Day (Burnley, Sunderland, Wednesday and Everton). We've kept picking up results more or less all season but all the same problems have kept cropping up - dodgy defending, slow inaccurate passing and blunt attacking - and today was the first time we've done them all at the same time and been properly punished for it in the league this season.

Aside from the systemic problems, we've also got personnel issues that are ridiculous given the money spent since Pellegrini arrived and the heights we've reached in his time. Two unconvincing keepers, one consistent full-back who has been played into the ground, no truly reliable centre-backs, a midfield that hinges almost entirely on the whim of Yaya Touré and the diminutive genius of David Silva and a front-line that is embarrassingly lacklustre when Aguero's knackered.

And all that without even mentioning how unbelievably shit our set-pieces are. Bit sick of Pellegrini at this point to be honest.

The only thing that has really changed since then is my opinion of Pellegrini.

I'm certain I've read that Chelsea and Liverpool have penalty clauses in their loan player contracts? Clubs get fined if they don't play the loan players?

Not sure you can do that. I think the legal way is for the parent club to pay the player's wages when he is playing games, and the loaning club to pay the wages when he isn't playing.

As an Arsenal fan the only one I really read regularly is Arseblog. I'd recommend checking out Tim Stillman's column (he does one every week on there) as he's one of the best football bloggers out there in my opinion.

I regularly read his column and I don't even care about Arsenal.
