POST ONE - HUMBLE BEGINNINGS

Well, well, well… This save began with me pressing the “PLAY” button on Steam to load up Football Manager 26 on my Laptop for the first ever time. Just a warning, I have played the game prior on PC, so I am not entirely new to the new UI and game details.

After giving it some thought, I have decided to load countless leagues from nations all over the globe. Full respect to the Women's game, however due to my very lacking knowledge, I have decided to leave it out of this save, purely because I would like the entire journey to be in a side of the game where I understand whether the leagues are at a high standard or not. I have also started on the Brazilian time period, this is just because I would like other jobs to become available quite early into the save, so that my path into management is going to be different to other FM players.

Time to get holidaying…

One week later…

I have now attended three job interviews, two at clubs in England's Sixth Tier, Chesham and Worksop Town. Personally, being from the North myself, I do have a bias on the North of England, which does mean that Worksop Town are a better fit for me in my eyes. The other side were called Midlands Wanderers, a side in the second division of South Africa who currently sit bottom of the league, six points from safety.

I waited another few days, honestly hoping for the Worksop Town job offer, however I got overloaded with job interviews three days after attending the previous three! I will quickly run you lot through how they went right now.

Alfreton Town: Certainly interesting, second on my list now, ahead of Worksop.
Eastbourne Borough: Honestly boring, do not like the idea of managing them, I will not be going there.
Briton Ferry: Intriguing, I do quite like the idea of starting in Wales, however the only issue is that I would have to play through a four month pre-season before the season starts as it has just finished.

King's Lynn Town: Now we're getting somewhere, definitely top of my radar.

My tune definitely did change when I saw that King's Lynn Town were set to announce another manager to take over the job, and upon re-assessing how good my options really were at Alfreton Town, I decided to take the job when it was offered.

Alfreton are in a good position for me to potentially have a first promotion on my radar in one season, with half a season left.

After twenty-five games, such an even results list, but Town (yes I'm getting to know the local lingo already) have won more than they have lost, which is a good sign for my job in the second half of the 2025/26 campaign. With twenty-one games left, I think the way I am going to post this is by month, each month I will post a monthly update, where I show off the results, league table, and any other little details that you lot as my assistant managers will need to know.

These were the results prior to my hiring:

As how recent form goes, we won't really find a team who are in much better form right now, which certainly gives me a little glimmer of hope, and with the club still being in the FA Trophy too, I could potentially even get to a decent round in that too!

This is the formation I will be running going into my first couple games, although this is definitely subject to change should we start poorly.

That is it from me, roll on this season with Alfreton! We have January to play through, so put your notifications on for this blog, and get notified every time a new post goes live from me, so then you will never miss a month of managing madness!

Thanks very much for reading, and I will see you again soon for January 2026 as the Alfreton boss!
