Olympique Lyonnais

Unlike John, I've only managed to bring in one signing this transfer window. Even though there are still two weeks of the window left, I don't feel as though I need to make any more, until January at least.

I welcomed Jordan Veretout to the club - a 21-year old midfielder from Nantes. Signed for a total fee of £6m, some of this will be paid over 24 months. Yohann Gourcuff was the only player to leave the club, he joined Villarreal for £6m, freeing up £78k p/w in wages, allowing me to make the move for Veretout.

Well rounded mental and physical stats, I'll be looking to improve his tackling in order to make him a better box-to-box midfielder, with Clement Grenier taking up the AMC spot, although the two will be able to swap positions.

Overall, a decent start to the season, friendly wise. We both let our assistant manager's take charge of the friendlies, but a good start.

We were drawn against Turkish side, Karabükspor in the qualifying stages of the Europa League, winning 7-3 on aggregate. Veretout made his debut in the first-leg, notching up two assists whilst the pick of the bunch was a 30-yard goal from Jordan Ferri. Yassine Benzia scored two goals in the second leg, with Grenier assisting both.

Our first game of the season is at home to Stade Rennais.

Olympique Lyonnais

Having not won the league since the 07-08 season - Olympique Lyonnais have been on a slow and painful downward spiral. Here's to hoping we turn things round over the next couple of seasons.

The first port of call was to sort out the expiring contracts. Umtiti, Dabo and Gourcuff's contracts all expire at the end of the season. Umtiti got a £2k p/w wage rise and has now signed until 2018 whilst Dabo has signed a two-year extension on the same wages. Gourcuff on the other hand is on £78 p/w. I have no intention of keeping him round for the season and I'll look to sell before his value decreases.

Poor end to the season but onwards and upwards

Any positions you're looking to bring in new players for?
