#386447 Uncle Sam's FM 17 Career
Uncle Sam
The Seattle result was epic. It's rare when everything comes together like that and the guys are just ruthlessly clinical. I started with my Counter strategy, and after it was 3-0 they went defensive and I immediately went to my control strategy and kept pouring it on. I usually have a fitness advantage over the MLS clubs in the Open Cup because I rest my players in the weekend match before the Cup game, but Seattle hadn't played a match at all for a week prior so their guys were just as fresh.

Yes, if you click on the player and go to Contract -> Contract Info, there is a box for "Salary Cap Impact for 20XX Season". Here there is a slide bar where you can use your "Remaining General Allocation Money" to reduce the impact of the player's contract against the salary cap.
Below is Ricardo Clark's salary cap impact:
As you can see, I have $1,321,000 of General Allocation Money left (mostly the spoils from the Torres transfer). You can drag that blue dot as far to the left as you can, reducing the "Salary Cap Impact" of the player contract. I could reduce Clark's contract all the way down to ZERO if I needed to. So obviously, allocation money can really help you in MLS. You can acquire allocation money through trades within the league, by selling players to foreign clubs, and through league performance (winning the Shield, winning MLS Cup, qualifying for the Champions League, etc).

Our General Allocation Money now shoots up to $1.3M, which I can use for MLS transfers or to buy down the salary cap impact of specific players.
MLS TIP: This is basically how I run my club in MLS in FM. Here in the USA we call it "moneyball", and it can be especially effective in MLS. By selling players for big profits to foreign clubs I can keep my overall wages lower while also being able to give bigger contracts while staying under the salary cap. Obviously it sucks to lose Torres, but I can replace him and develop his replacement to earn another big pay day.

Side notes: Zach Pfeffer came on as a sub and scored his first goal with the club. Also, I delayed Torres's transfer so he could play in this match. What a brilliant move that turned out to be as he scored two goals and served up four assists.

I have to assume I'm losing ET now. I fully believe that Mauro Manotas is ready to step in.
His backup could be any number of players, Alberth Elis being the most likely until the end of the season. Where I would really like to bring a guy during the summer window is at center back. Leonardo, De La Garza, and Machado have been getting the job done, but I could use an upgrade. I'll be sending scouts to Spain and Brazil to look for a loanee replacement.

Complete dominance. One of those occasions where no one flubs their lines and everything goes according to the script. Obviously the red card helped, but it was already 3-0 by then. The only blemish would be Torres' missed penalty in the 34th minute.
League: 1st (11-4-2, 32 GF - 12 GA, +20 GD, 37 PTS)
We have 5 more goals than the next highest team, and we are 7 goals better in differential than the next best team, however our position is somewhat precarious as our lead is only three points. We do have a game in hand on the next highest team, but it could unravel quickly.

Rio Grande Valley (USL) - 5th place (8-4-5, 31 GF - 18 GA, +13 GD, 28 PTS).
--Prospects. The best prospects are the three guys I have loaned to the club. Rafael Ramos (DR - 7.52), Christian Lucatero (MC - 7.35), and Cristian Roldan (M/AM RC - 7.02) are all carrying high ratings. Charlie Ward (M/AMC - 7.21) is a decent prospect who is producing, and Jorginho James (DM/MC - 6.97) is another player I like but isn't getting a lot of playing time.
Dynamo Academy (USSDA Frontier Division) - 1st place (10-4-1, 22 GF - 7 GA, +15 GD, 34 PTS)
--Prospects: My son (Jayden) that I added to have random attributes with an editor file (that I forgot I still had in my editor data folder) actually looks like a decent prospect in this game. He has a 7.14 rating from his M/AMC position. Goalkeeper Adam Bocanegra (7.03) and David Stern (AML - 7.35) are also rated to be prospects worth having a look at.

It's a tough draw, as 15 of the 16 teams left are MLS clubs, and we will not be hosting a match until the final.

Obviously not a world class player or anything, but Zach will provide some depth at midfield and we hope he can get a little better.

Houston Gets: 1st Round SuperDraft Pick 2017
NYC FC Gets: Oscar Boniek Garcia, 100K General Allocation Money
This was a tough deal to make because Boniek is a good player that can slot into several positions, but he is over 30 and we do get a first round pick in next years draft and we clear $245K of cap space.
