I agree.
I thought a wonderkid is a player that is a relative unknown playing in the Conference, League 2 or any lower division. How can smaller teams ever get that magical breakthrough if there are not some gems hidden away somewhere that a big team (normally Arsenal) would pay 10 million for when they are 16/17, i.e Ramsey and Walcott.

A wonderkid refers to the person's age (very young) and relative skill, it has nothing to do with the division he plays in, most certaintly has nothing to do with a country!

You can call them "world class players" if you wish, but to make them distinguishable from the likes of Cristiano and Messi (as in, their age) they are called "wonderkids".

Perfectly reasonable IMO.
